  1. As it stands, I don't think we should be spending 15mil on a striker - if Benteke goes, we'll need to get someone else in but other than that I think we'd be better off investing in the defence.
  2. In fairness right now Stoke to Villa would be considered a sideways move. Perhaps, but that's also a reason to move. Villa at their lowest ebb equals Stoke at their highest, so why wouldn't you jump ship in that scenario if you were offered it. They're going to finish 9th this year - we're not going to finish much higher than that any time soon. The money's the same, the chance of winning something is the same, there's no real point in him moving. If both clubs were in for the same player, we'd almost certainly sign him over them but that's a different kettle of fish.
  3. Unless he's on a free, it'd be quite a faff to get him. We'd have to pay a big wedge for him and we're not that much of step up from Stoke - we only are in terms of tradition, really. He wouldn't be getting paid a whole lot more, he's not going to win a whole lot more - just seems like a largely pointless move. Don't want him anyway Me neither.
  4. Lambert would never have said that in that situation, if that's what you're getting at.
  5. Not to mention the suicidal high line that Sherwood had us playing.
  6. Some of them seemed to be. Whatever, you guys need to get over it - we're not Liverpool fans, so there's no point crying about this.
  7. Sorry edited - I meant players and that definitely does make a big difference IMO.

  9. Totally different sort of thing - I doubt the QPR fans were getting aggressive with the Newcastle players.
  10. He's mental - not sure I'd want to run the risk.
  11. I couldn't care less if I'm wrong from time to time - it happens and it's not exactly important. Furthermore, you form opinions based on the evidence or your feelings at the time and if that changes, then that opinion isn't really relevant any more.
  12. The worst game he's had for us and possibly the worst he's had in his career. I like Ron but on the strength of that and his other slips in the last few games, I don't think we should be offering him a new deal after all.
  13. It's happened a few times for him but as you said he's a young manager - it's all part of the process. The test now is how he regroups the team and how we perform in the next two games.
  14. Come back Brad, all is forgiven!
  15. No team does ffs - it's a completely asinine thing to say, that's the point I was making.
  16. Every week? Give over. We sucked but we didn't concede six every week ffs.
  17. Indeed, but that shouldn't detract from the tremendous job he's done overall. Well yeah, that's the balance really. Sherwood's done a good job so far but that was worrying to say the least - the defence were beyond inept.
  18. We most likely would've been relegated if we'd kept with Lambert but that has nothing to do with today's result. Sherwood messed up and deserves criticism today for it.
  19. Diabolical today, as was Given. A bad, bad combo. I wouldn't call today symptomatic of his time here though, I'd say that it was easily his worst game for us.
  20. Had a **** mare today - Guzan was dropped for less, I expect to see Brad back in against Burnley.
  21. Absolute tosh from the team today, which of course lays squarely at his feet.
