Him and Clark would be my choices considering they are the longest serving members other than Gabby, and they are both very vocal on and off the field. Although, Sherwood... Gil for captain then!

1) That will be nearly 18 months ago by the start of the new season, which is a long time at his point in his career. 2) He's barely played competitive football for twelve months. 3) He'd be on massive wages. 4) His personal and family life is clearly problematic, to the point of being a huge career disruption. It's a funny old game

He's not got a good reputation - but he does work well with Sherwood and that's the important thing.

I think when you're hot property and know it, you'd want to go to a team with more of a chance of winning something or playing CL football. It's perfectly understandable that he's wary, it's not something that bothers me.

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind Adebayor on something like a 2 year deal? Sherwood managed to get a lot out of him and he does have a lot of ability.

I think he'd be fine in a back 3 but those three - Okore-Clark-Baker in any combination, seem to me be lacking a bit of leadership. Clark stepped up a lot last season but I don't know if that'd translate to the other two. It's also a little short of experience too, you'd like to see someone who's about 30 there. Like Vlaar or Senderos.

Without Vlaar, we've got Clark, Baker, Senderos, Okore and maybe Richards if he isn't playing RB. If we're going for a 3 at the back system, maybe getting another in isn't such a bad idea. I think Senderos might be off too, I don't think Sherwood rates him.

I agree.... why havent we tried to sign Buffon as our 3rd choice keeper.......everyone out!!!!! Problem is we need a 1st choice not third, we now have 4 keepers(hopefully 3 shortly if Given leaves) and still need another. We have a good first choice called Brad Guzan. Fixed.

He's clearly being brought in as a reserve - makes sense to replace Given with someone a lot cheaper.

There's that and also the question of how much of a part he's playing in all of this. There's Lerner, Fox and Reilly seemingly involved too.
