"The defence rests M'lud." Too often in the case of our defence already this season. The time has come to dismiss any decision that was made not to call John Terry back to shore up our leaking defence on grounds of age. Our season depends on it and it would be gross negligence not to act now without any further delay. Pick up the phone and call John Terry!

We last lost a league game at Sheffield United in 1991. We have since won three and drawn one up there. We are currently level on points and a win will bring us just two points behind early pace setters Leeds and Boro. We also need a win to compensate for our last two home draws. This will be a tough one and I would probably take a point but three would be even better. Make it so Villa.

I think we were confident that this one was going to happen until he had a late change of mind, we then tried for plan B with time running out but Aberdeen decided they could reject our offer for their player. It's not as if we didn't try to bring in a centre half. The only option left is to play one of our current players if our overlords cannot be persuaded to let us have our JT back.

Indeed it is, but in this case it can mean only one thing JT is coming back. It makes 100% sense so there is no reason that anyone at the club could have for not wanting it to happen. Make it so Villa!

Never in any doubt was it? Super Tammy was determined to sign for us all along and pushed Chelsea to allow his Villa dream to become a reality. I was wrong and I'm so pleased to have been proven wrong about this deal coming off. I doff my hat to Brucie and everyone else involved at Villa Park for getting this one done.

I think it's a case of anywhere other than a Championship club with this one. I hope he proves me wrong but if Chelsea want him out I suspect he will prefer Bordeaux to us.

He would be worth looking at but I guess the demands Plop make on clubs who loan their players and the penalties they impose it they are not met may make a deal for him unlikely for us.

The loan window slams shut on Friday at 5pm. Time is therefore fast running out to get the deals over the line that will have a significant impact on our promotion hopes done in the hours that remain before then.

Yes that is what he will be telling himself as he sits on a bench (occasionally) during September, October, November and December before accepting he was wrong in January and moving on loan to another relegation threatened PL side of to a team in Europe until the end of the season when he will spend another transfer window like he has this one.

If we sign JT again we can loan a left back and a striker. Job done. We don't have to put more than 5 loans in the squad at the same time (we can try a little loan player squad rotation).

I thought that we already had or are we just running a transfer policy of "buy any player that Celtic are linked with?" , If so, I hope they are linked with a left back and a striker soon.

He has a future in rugby league with that follow up kick from the penalty save last night. His goals and reliability last season kept us in with a chance of promotion when we could easily have dropped out of contention but his form left him as we approached the play offs and has yet to return. His confidence is shot and our new signings will put him under pressure. I hope he can motivate himself to get over his current slump in form and I will not be giving up on him doing that just yet. Even if he doesn't, I won't be getting on his back given what he has done for us in the past.
