  1. I remember hearing about the power problems we have for our catering units and the difficulty in what wasn't a joined up approach to the four buildings that make up Villa Park in terms of power and water and so on - I guess there's a benefit to fixing the kind of infrastructure problems we wouldn't normally know or care about. "Lowered" would be the key word here - if it's six centimetres to allow for some cabling, then I'm guessing we won't even notice.
  2. £2m is a 2010 price. We've reached the point where an average Premier league player (top half bench player?) costs you £15m. I think £7-10m for a back up striker would be about right.
  3. He must have made quite an impression during those 25 days they were together this summer, especially since I'm not sure Reading played a friendly during that time. I'm guessing he got good reports from the other coaches, but I'm not sure we can necessarily take Jaap Stams opinion on Tshibola as any kind of authority.
  4. I guess this should go here. http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld201617/ldselect/ldhs2/83/83.pdf The bit you want is right at the bottom. I'm not sure what "three group companies" means. I did like this line: It's interesting that our claim to some extent rests on being able to shout at players properly.
  5. Is it? Hutton is a better right back than Bacuna in my opinion, I think you'd find a lot of people that would agree - Hutton's not brilliant, but his selection over Bacuna is hardly baffling. Westwood (or Gardner) over Tshibola again is hardly baffling - I'd have expected maybe Tshibola to feature a little more, but he's been very flat for the reserves and if he's training in the same way then you can see why he wouldn't get a game. Westwood is our most mobile midfielder and possibly our best passer of a ball too - he's also got a dreadful mistake in him, Gardner is less mobile but less likely to cost you a goal. Our midfield is terrible, but selection wise you'd expect to see Gardner and/or Westwood regularly based on what we have to select from - I don't see that as baffling. On Gabby, I'm surprised we're seeing so much of him, we've Ayew and Grealish who can play the same position - there's the ACN thing though so I guess it might be as much to do with that. I agree with pretty much all of the rest of your post, we're reliant far too much on individual brilliance, and it means we'll struggle for consistency - but in terms of how far we can go as a team that wins without playing well (without a midfield) - then I think the selections have been pretty good and pretty much as you'd expect.
  6. Jedinak doesn't really like the ball does he?
  7. Yep - Bacuna down the left. That might work and does make us more attacking. Hutton with a shot. I haven't seen that for some time!
  8. 4-4-2 wouldn't be bad - it means sacrificing Bacuna - he's nowhere near a left mid - but it makes things simpler for both of the front two. I haven't seen Bacuna yet, so I'm not sure if it's just sky.
  9. SKY think Bacuna plays at left midfield - it's possible and would solve the problem of McCormack being isolated, but I'm not sure they've got that right.
  10. Fans singing Sherwood give us a wave at TV Tim - I think you've given us enough thanks very much. Tit.
  11. I agree alreadyexists - the question being whether we can get a result today while we teach a few the value of hard work.
  12. I can't see us planning on dominating possession and flying out of the blocks with this line up - I think we'll be looking to play on the counter - keep them out for the first fifteen or twenty, settle the crowd, then grow into it and snatch one on the break. We have a defensive mindset and we struggle to string four passes together.
  13. Yup. I'm not sure this is a line up so much for today as a warning for the rest of the season to a number of players.
  14. It's difficult, because we're going to be asking a lot of Amavi if Kodjia is narrow - he's not going to get a lot of cover from the naturally right sided Gardner or Bacuna and Jedinak hasn't got the energy to be coming out to the left hand side. Amavi might be capable of covering the left side on his own anyway. Adomah on the other hand naturally wants to be out wide - if he's forced narrow, then we've got both him and McCormack doing roles that aren't quite natural for them and Kodjia doing the one he likes but most of us would prefer to be his second option. I think McCormack will be very isolated I think we'll be defensive and occasionally break and hope that the ability in the front three finds a way to overcome that. 0-0 or 1-0 to us.
  15. It's the opportunity McCormack needed - but in a role that's going to be very difficult for him in this team.
  16. I think Kodjia is better upfront and McCormack behind - I can't see how this line up can put them there. Adomah will definitely be out right, so it looks likely that this is Kodjia on the left wing and McCormack as a lone striker - I don't think that's a natural position for either of them. Bruce has dropped players who've not performed and sacrificed the shape to do it. It's an interesting gamble. I hope it pays off.
  17. I hadn't noticed Bunn. Christ.
  18. There it is then! Interesting to see how that lines up - I'm guessing Kodjia will be on the left, Adomah right and McCormack down the middle - if Kodjia doesn't come inside to support, that's a very isolated role for McCormack and he's not the most physical striker, I guess the support comes through Bacuna - which doesn't sound the best of prospects. Three in the middle I like, it's a bit more solid - and it's a chance for Gardner and Bacuna - even though I think the three we've got out is pretty weak. I like that back four though, I think it's got a solid look about it. A good side with three weak midfielders, no natural support for the centre forward and no natural left sided player.
  19. I've been avoiding installing other browsers, but...if i ever want to watch anything online again I suppose there's no choice. It's weird, I can get any site at all to use flash, or ask if I'd like to use flash, except those where I watch a stream - those can't be persuaded to ask, if I could persuade them to ask, then I'd be fine. I'll try chrome - ta Tegis.
  20. I prefer him up top, and in the squad at the moment I think he has to play there. One of our issues with balance is that he prefers to come in off the left hand side of the pitch as a striker, like Thierry Henry used to, unfortunately, so does Grealish. And Ayew. And Agbonlahor. For the good of the team, I think Bruce needs to be telling him to stay central in so much as is possible.
  21. It's difficult not to feel sorry for them* and there's a genuine chance that Coventry City Football Club won't exist as a league club next season, they don't have any money, they don't have a ground, they don't have a training ground, at times in the last couple of years they've had to field squads with a lot of a academy players in and their owners don't care. It's a horrible situation for any football club to find itself in and their supporters are most likely looking at a renamed, rebranded Coventry starting again from non-league football at some point before too long. *Difficult, but not impossible.
  22. Last season he really impressed after christmas after taking a while to settle. He's a very good midfielder of exactly the type we're missing. It's a pity we couldn't hold onto him.
