  1. I'd guess they'll sell the likes of Kepa, Lukaku, Broja and maybe Maatsen - players that they won't particularly miss, plus they'll have the £28m for Lewis Hall from Newcastle and whatever they're getting from Galatasary for Ziyech - so they will have a chance to raise some decent money and retain what they've got as a starting point.
  2. There's a link on the beeb about Liverpool allegedly preparing for bids of £150m for Mo Salah, according to the always hilarious Football Insider. That got me to thinking - if Salah wants out this summer, when he'll be 32 and perhaps starting to fade, how much do you think a Saudi team would have to pay for him? I'd think Liverpool would be quite happy to have his £400k a week off the wage bill at this point - £150m would be an absolute fever dream. I reckon they'd let him go for £30-40m
  3. If Chelsea beat Spurs I reckon one more point might well be enough. If Chelsea beat Spurs and we beat Brighton, we may even be able to live without the horror of it going to the last day.
  4. The Travelling Wilburys have let themselves go.
  5. I don't come in to this thread very often and must confess I hadn't heard that there was a Shogun series that had been made (or of anyone that's seen it) - from the reviews here it sounds like it's fantastic - is there any likelihood of it being re-broadcast on the type of channels where people actually see stuff? Seems a shame for it to be hidden away.
  6. I am satisfied with the first half efforts of Arsenal. I am also satisfied with Brighton's new direction and hopeful it continues next Sunday.
  7. I think most people recognise that Chelsea are a good side, I don't think people were expecting us to perform as badly as we did. We've played some good sides off the park this season, but last night, we barely played at all - we got our plan wrong, our shape and balance wrong and our distances wrong and then we passed the ball so badly that we gave Chelsea complete control of the game. Unai got this one wrong in terms of the plan - he's human and he's got so much right this season that you won't find me moaning too much about that - thankfully, the determination and mentality we have, and a bit of individual excellence got us a point. We'll be better in the next one.
  8. The system and the passing let Ollie down last night - not the other way around.
  9. Good to note that on the Sky commentary (from the two minute highlight thing they did) that the commentator says "that's a foul on Diego Carlos" and then seems amazed the ref let the goal stand initially - Andy Townsend on co-comms also backed him up and both absolutely expected the goal to be chalked off on VAR. It's always nice to know that others can see the obvious in front of them.
  10. Salah isn't the first player and he won't be the last to struggle to come to terms with the effect that time has on athletes - he's still a very good player, but he's not the force he once was and he's taking that frustration out on a manager that's using him based on where he is now, not his reputation.
  11. In a complete rebuild of course - but in terms of the existing corners - you'd be looking at building something very similar on top of the corner flag restaurant but not much more - you can't have seats further back than that glass so there isn't the possibility to put a seating block in that corner - they wouldn't be able to see the pitch.
  12. There's absolutely no way we get 3,000 seats into the gaps between the posts of the North Stand and the stands next to them - we'd be lucky to fit 400 in there. It might be suitable for a couple of container type hospitality boxes but 3,000 seats is the same as the Lower North Stand.
  13. He was poor tonight. I don't worry about him and he'd still be on my team sheet for Thursday.
  14. It was bleedin' freezing today - felt like January!
  15. It's interesting that mentality and physicality keeps coming up in this thread. I think we were tactically badly organised tonight and technically really poor on the ball. I think it's our mentality and physicality that got us a point despite that.
  16. I thought we were really poor tonight - regardless of the way the game went, the referee, the opposition and anything else that might get bundled up into it, we were really poor. Our passing was atrocious - initially we started the game by allowing them to come onto us then playing quick balls into the corners for Bailey and Digne - the injury to Tielemans affected our shape, but that plan had killed off any rhythm we had in the game and we simply couldn't pass the ball - getting even two or three passes together seemed beyond us and we ended up just lumping long balls in the vague direction of our forwards, passes that Thiago Silva and Badiashille just ate up - we didn't pass it, we didn't work off the ball when we had it, there was a lack of movement, a lack of shape, a lack of all the things we've become used to under Unai. For me, this was our worst performance under this manager. In terms of the result, I'll absolutely take it, we didn't deserve a point and that we got one was down to our workrate, some individual excellence, a bit of luck and the baffling toothless tiger that Chelsea are. They're a really good side in an awful lot of ways, they pass, they have good movement, they can control a game, they're quick everywhere, they have players that are technically excellent and they have a good manager - they're a top six side - but they could be a lot more than that.- the fact that Cole Palmer is in the race for golden boot I think probably exposes how much Chelsea miss a proper striker or a bit more of a pattern in the final third - there are some young players up there that are greedy, needy and rash when they get a sight of goal. Whatever, not my circus, not my monkey - they were the better side throughout tonight and dominated proceedings. Being 2-0 up at half time felt a bit like we'd picked their pockets - at half time they'd had 71% possession and I was still a little confused as to whether that was down to their plan or ours - in the second half it become clear that whatever plan we had, it wasn't working. Both of the disallowed goal decisions were correct in so far as I could see, to the eye the first one was offside and the quick flash of the lines on the scoreboard seemed to confirm that and you could see the big push on Carlos for the second one from where I was at the other end of the ground - neither were controversial - other than that, the ref was crap and his linesman on the Trinity side even worse. In terms of positives, I thought Iroegbunam did okay when he came on and Rogers looked lively when we wasn't charging up blind alleys. Oh and I thought that Olsen did okay when he came on, and the atmosphere was very good. The injuries are a worry, Tielemans seemed to be holding his groin and Martinez his thigh - Martinez is a massive character and Tielemans has become an important part of the side, we can't afford to lose either. I guess the bigger positive is the point - it might still turn out to be very important - it's a point that Tottenham have to go out and get, and hopefully Chelsea trouble them as much as they troubled us. I'll take it. The point is a lot better than the performance. In short, good team in confusing but rare poor performance draw with confusing team in rare good performance. A point gained.
  17. They need to get rid of a whole barrel of bad apples and buy about a dozen players - it'll take three seasons to bring them back even if they start getting it right.
  18. FT - they'll need to win on the last day - hopefully Hull keep Norwich honest.
  19. He's (perhaps also a bit like Chrisene) not quite got a position that's his - he's a reasonable defensive midfielder but with perhaps not enough of a burst to make it his own and he's an okay centre back but lacking the size and presence to be an exceptional one - there's a very good footballer in there, it's just hard to see exactly how someone will get it out of him.
  20. I've a feeling that it's a UEFA requirement to have a certain amount of space and it's built around that.
  21. The immediate plans for this summer are for the warehouse (which will hopefully not be GA+), the extended club shop and the refurbishment and development of the hospitality areas - I think we'll have to wait a while for the concourses.
  22. Thinking about where the hospitality seats might go, there was some talk of a dugout area for hospitality (Chelsea do it) which could I guess mean displacing some of those in the central Lower Trinity. Hopefully not, but I guess it's a possibility.
  23. The North Stand doesn't really have corners where you could put seats - it'd just be a load of restricted views.
