  1. It seems it just takes a little blow and he's flat as a pancake.
  2. General, This evening I took in Villa Park on my drive home from work and caught sight of the end of one of the mosaics peeping out from behind the scaffold at the end of the Holte End. I couldn't see much but what I saw was absolutely stunning. It genuinely lifted my day. Thank you.
  3. I think it was a mixture of poor finishing and Arsenaling about, although the keeper did well in gathering or tipping away crosses in fairness to him.
  4. When I grow up..... Brilliant. Do you really like it, or are you taking the piss, cos I wasn't sure at first and it's really grown on me! Sorry Nick, hadn't noticed this, yeah, I like it a lot. Not sure why you think I'm taking the piss.
  5. It rotates between the winners of the Northern League and the winners of the Southern League, last year it was at Reading I assume.
  6. The winners of our league will play Liverpool at Anfield on the 7th May in the Play Off game. I'm sure we have at least one poster local enough to hope we can get there.
  7. General, Just to add to this, I was in the Holte prior to kick off and the young man behind the bar told a caller on the phone that they'd be open until eleven so I'm surprised by this and would love to know what changed.
  8. The table at the moment looks like this, The figures in brackets are the maximum number of points each team could reach. 1st...Aston Villa....P14........30pts........(42) 2nd..West Ham....P16........28pts........(34) 3rd...Reading.......P15........26pts........(35) 4th...Fulham........P16........25pts........(31) 5th...Arsenal........P14........22pts........(34) No-one else can catch us and it looks like two wins from our remaining four games would be enough to secure the title. Portsmouth next Wednesday is winnable, then we have Fulham away. Hopefully we'll have it all sewn up after those two as Chelsea away and Arsenal at home are altogether trickier.
  9. Yes, with no conditions. There are things he can do better, but I think he'll do better at them.
  10. General, Not the easiest of days to be a Villa fan this, but please pass on our congratulations to all involved in the Academy set up as our Under 18's have won their league today. OBE
  11. Pardon my ignorance General, but what's "achieving scale" mean?
  12. General, you'll have a great time. I'm sure you won't hear any words you haven't heard from the marines. Just different accents!
  13. Fulham have beaten Reading tonight, and Arsenal and Chelsea have drawn, it's looking tight at the top. IF we can win our games in hand, the title is still on.
  14. General, Is it true that you once dressed up as the Easter bunny and entertained the Presidents kids on the White House lawn? If so, any chance of a repeat performance in front of the Holte End for us tomorrow against Sunderland? OBE
  15. Arsenal have announced another date for the reserve game, this time the 29th April. Is that the fourth date for this game? click me (oh, and it's back to Villa Park apparently!) Hard to believe that our game against the heath (it's not even a big heath) was originally meant to be our final game of the season!
  16. General, I'm sure whilst you will be concerned as to reports of our opponents behaviour this evening you will also be proud that we have a group of young men that represent everything I would hope this great club stands for. Please pass on our thanks to the Academy coaching staff for their hard work in developing the group of young players that have served us so well in the youth cup this season. Thank you. (Oh and for those that enjoyed it, we'll be back at Villa Park with the reserves on the 31st March against the scruffy lot down the road; £2 or free with a season ticket.)
  17. We've been knocked off the top of the table tonight by West Ham. It's good news though as they've beaten Reading who stay below us. We now have a game in hand over Reading who are 1 point behind us and 2 games in hand over West Ham who are 1 point above us. So still in a strong position if we can get winning again.
  18. De Niro. Pacino has become a ham. How he got an Oscar for his frankly awful woo-ha overacting in scent of a woman remains a mystery to me. Such a pity, as his early stuff is fantastic.
  19. It's great for football. If Barnsley or Cardiff can get to an FA Cup final then anyone can and we can all dream again. That's what the game's all about.
  20. Great report Paul. Sounds like a decent performance and a couple of good performances from our young hopefuls. Nice to hear Albrighton doing well. Should be a cracker on the 19th.
  21. Sorry General, could you just clarify this, I thought it had to do with ticket sales, but I can't see anything on the official website. I may just be looking in the wrong place!
  22. Cheers Blandy! Cracking report on a day when David got a touch taller and Goliath seemed a lot less giant. Sadly by now you'll know that Curtis's injury is more serious than you'd first thought. It takes a lot to laugh, it takes a train to cry.
