  1. Final is on Sunday at midday at Villa Park. We'll be playing Manchester City.
  2. [table][mrow]Pos [mcol] [mcol]Appearances[mcol] [row]1st [col]Charlie Aitken[col]660 [row]2nd [col]Billy Walker[col]531 [row]3rd [col]Gordon Cowans[col]528 [row]4th [col]Joe Bache[col]474 [row]5th [col]Allan Evans[col]474 [row]6th [col]Nigel Spink[col]460 [row]7th [col]Tommy Smart[col]452 [row]8th [col]Johnny Dixon[col]430 [row]9th [col]Dennis Mortimer[col]406 [row]10th [col]Billy George[col]401 [row]11th [col]Eric Houghton[col]392 [/table] He'll pass one more by the end of the season, and then if he were to stay he could make real progress over then next couple of years.
  3. Risso an "Old fiend" !?! Cracking report Mr Bland.
  4. I'll say this for Lichaj, he can't half throw a ball! He launched one a good 45 yds in the second half and we won a corner from it. You're right Rob, I thought he had a good game.
  5. Final is being listed as the 3rd May, with most places suggesting we'll be the home team. I presume the date will be moved as it'll get in the way of our game against Wigan otherwise. Fingers crossed for Villa Park, it could be a cracking night.
  6. The dug out has been moved?
  7. What's the text of the letter Richard? Are we headed toward an all-corporate Trinity Road?
  8. It's definitely 389 BOF, I'm not sure where soccerbase got their extra one from but I'm pretty sure he's on 389 at the moment.
  9. It's a cracking piece Trent and you're right, there's a sort of "star" factor at Villa Park again these days, with players that seem to be a touch above what we're used to, Ashley Young in particular is a player that has a touch of star quality about him, Carew too and even the slightly more staid Gareth Barry seems to have stepped up this season into a more iconic light. Good times.
  10. 389 and about to pass a little group of three players.
  11. The OS have changed theirs to Baker now, so it looks like you are spot on.
  12. Cheers Paul, Sounds like a good night. That's you and the Chelsea site that say our goal was scored by Baker and the Villa OS saying Clark. I'll trust you in this one and say congratulations to the sixteen year old. Good to hear Nathan had such a big influence from the bench, that's a role he might soon be performing on a bigger stage. Another step nearer picking up the big pot!
  13. After tonights defeat the top of the table looks like this; .....................P......GD.....Pts Aston Villa .16...+21......33 West Ham...17...+13......31 Reading......16...+16......29 We've got Chelsea away and Arsenal at home still to come. Reading have Portsmouth away and Tottenham at home. West Ham have Arsenal away. This could be very very close indeed.
  14. General, if the Wigan game sells out before the season tickets come out, what are they going to do all week?
  15. Right then, just so as I can get a bit of closure: 1946 was the last one, but it was an FA Cup game, played over two legs in a season without a league championship. We won the first leg 4-2 and then the second on 30th January 1946 9-1 vs Milwall with six different scorers. The previous one in 1929 was also in the cup (and also on the 30th January) in an 8-0 win against Clapton Orient. In the league, you have to go back to the 28th November 1914 in a 6-3 victory against Liverpool. So, Saturday was the first time Villa have had six scorers in a game for 62 years, and the first time in the league for 94 years. Thank you and Goodnight.
  16. 30.01.1946 -H Millwall 9-1 Goffin 2 Parkes Broome 3 Edwards Smith L Iverson Right! I didn't realise there'd be so many of these and I've had enough. I've done up to 1946 and it's over to BOF.
  17. 28.11.1914 -A Liverpool 6-3 Stephenson C Edgley Hampton H Barber Bache Wallace We've done this more often than I'd have thought. 30.01.1929 -A Clapton Orient 8-0 Waring 3 Swales Dorrell York Cook Beresford FA Cup replay that one, we drew the home game nil nil!
  18. 16.04.1906 -H Derby 6-0 Millington Garraty Walters Matthews Bache Boden Still over a hundred years ago. Even Oldfart won't remember these.
  19. 26.12.1894 -H Darwen 9-0 Devey J 2, Brown A 2, Smith, Hodgetts 2, Athersmith, Reynolds
  20. Well, we've done it before, but I'm not sure if this was the last time; 30.10.1887 -H Wednesbury Old Athletic 13-0 Hodgetts 3 Loach 2 Davis Hunter 3 Brown Alb 3 Burton Perhaps Mr Lerwill might know if we had six scorers against casuals in the FA Cup in 1891?
  21. I've gone for Coventry. They aren't very nice.
