  1. Maybe Trezeguet doesn't lose the ball, but he doesn't seem to go anywhere with it, either.
  2. Obviously we need reinforcements, but all today showed was that Man City is miles ahead of us, and we already knew that this morning.
  3. Pepe Reina currently in a dark corner of the stadium trying to break his leg so he fails the physical.
  4. My preferred size of team is mid-table or taller.
  5. I'm not sure who is available that Villa could get that would keep them from being relegated if they're going to be relegated. What's keeping this team up isn't the striker option(s) we land in January. It's going to be the team improving overall. Front, back and middle.
  6. Let's just beat them regardless of what else happens tomorrow.
  7. Probably too soon for him to supplant Indiana.
  8. Well then I suppose a more apt name would be Danny Carrywater because it sure doesn't sound like he drinks much of it.
  9. My point is that you're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to my opinion. I don't believe Piatek is going to wind up at Villa, but he has been linked to Villa from multiple outlets during this window. So I dropped in a note to this thread about Villa-related transfer business about a player who has been linked and I got a condescending response from you about it. So I responded to it in a similar fashion.
  10. Well who needs Villa Report when we have you then?
  11. Last I've heard Spurs were dicking around and nothing was imminent. In fact, last link in this thread regarding Piatek was about Villa's interest. Now, it's all rumor etc, but I thought it might be interesting information for the people here. I suppose I'll just stick to posting about Benteke, how transfers aren't easy to pull off, and what is and isn't forgivable. My mistake!
  12. Zlatan scored for AC Milan today. Piatek wasn't in the squad.
  13. Depends how thorough the bank's background check is.
  14. Wow, it turns out that some of you want Christian Benteke back, and others don't. Lots of useful information here today.
  15. I have gone back to watch the two AC Milan matches he started archived on ESPN+ since the rumors started. He didn't do a whole lot against Sampdoria, but wasn't given many chances. He looked very good in the match I saw against Sassuolo, however. No goal, but got three shots on, and made a few really nice passes. One of which should have resulted in a goal. He's better than Wesley. I'll give him that. Here's a fancy chart! https://understat.com/player/7090
  16. Precisely. If they bring in Reina and Nyland plays well enough to hold on to the No. 1 job, that would be fantastic, but there's nothing wrong with having capable fallback options. Like the ones we don't have in the midfield or up top should key players get hurt. I'm amazed how many people I've seen on here who are fine with sticking with Nyland because he's played well for roughly 120 minutes after seeing the first team decimated by injuries in recent weeks.
  17. If it's as a second striker they won't want him here. The reason he's been recalled from Leeds is he's not playing enough.
  18. I think it's most likely a result of people wanting to believe things that make them feel good, and not wanting to believe things that make them feel bad. It's all one giant Rorschach test.
  19. For the sake of comparison between style and performance. Expected Goals this Season Aston Villa: 27.16 Crystal Palace: 19.70 Newcastle United: 17.82 AC Milan: 24.05 AC Milan has scored 16 actual goals, so an expected goals of 24.05 means they've scored eight fewer goals than they should have. As for Piatek, his personal expected goals is at 7.52 in Serie A, which is 3.52 more than he's scored. So he's been a little unlucky. Keep in mind we have a front office that claims to be analytically inclined. Odds are they're aware of all of this.
  20. Pure guesswork on my part, but I would assume we went after Giroud and it was made clear that he's not interested in coming here if he leaves, so they moved on to Drinkwater. Or we're just going to buy him outright, which some reports say Chelsea would prefer to loaning him.
