  1. The loaning of Zaniolo works well for both clubs instead of buying outright. The loan fee can sizeable, but doesn't need sharing with Roma making the deal more profitable for Gala. Helps us with FFP to get the deal done. Harrison would most likely be in response to the events of this week. The deals for both players are not connected to each.
  2. Harrison has shown he can be effective in the Premier League under a decent manager. We still need to balance the books, and the deal with Burnely with an unproven AJ will help with that as well as develop a player that we may want back. No comparison in their roles for the club.
  3. Maybe underwhelming, but an experienced and reliable Premier League player that won't cost the earth, in an area that we are short of cover.
  4. This man took a team that was "coached" by Steven Gerrard, and managed to find a winning formula within a handful of games. He will be meticulously going through the game, analysing everything that went wrong, and the few things that went right, in order to ensure we're prepared to take on Everton. I'm hoping this was our Stevenage game.
  5. Ezri has come on leaps and bounds under Unai. To say that he can't perform without Tyrone is doing him a disservice, as he never had another quality CB to play alongside when playing without the big man. Now we have both Carlos and Pau, two players that have been successful in their respective careers. His mistake yesterday was poor, but who knows how much Tyrone's injury affected him (and the rest of the team). All the players need our backing, and an opening day shocker against a very good team is not a good sample size for us to learn an awful lot.
  6. It's also worth remembering that the players and manager need our support more than ever. Losing Buendia and Tyrone to horrible injuries has clearly affected us, so imagine the effect it's had on the players that consider them to be personal friends. The team needs us to lift them, just as we need them to lift us back up.
  7. That was terrible, but we can't extrapolate too much from the opening day. We were very sloppy, missed great chances and gifted them goals. The Mings injury is terrible, especially on the back of Emi's ACL. Diaby looked good, but pretty much everyone was off the pace. Thankfully we have a manager that will analyse the **** out of the mistakes and has the footballing acumen to put things right for Everton.
  8. He's back interviewing Elmo... Not mentioned Bailey as yet.
  9. McGinn is likely to be one of the first names on the teamsheet at the moment.
  10. I think it's only for injury, or exceptional circumstances. Said player would be withdrawn from the match day squad.
  11. BeIn reporter saying there's a possibility that Bailey may be withdrawn from the squad. Didn't provide any other info.
  12. Bayern have two badges? ShAmBLeS!!!!!
  13. Arsenal have launched a system whereby entry is permitted only via an app. It's not gone well.
  14. To add, I don't for a second believe that Monchi and co would leave the outgoing to chance until after the new arrivals appear. They will already know who needs to find a new team, and will be actively working on it whether they leave before or after more new recruits.
  15. Genuine question, but does the chronology matter? i.e. can we still bring players in today on the condition that some leave before the end of the window (or even January)? My guess is that the books would need to be balanced ahead of a set observation date, but as long as they're in order by the time they're assessed we're free to conduct business in the order we wish.
  16. Yep, also FFP has kind of made this a necessity - trade the viable academy prospects of tomorrow for FFP profit, in order to bring in more the more established players ready for the first team today. It's also something that only a few teams can do. No young talent at somewhere like Bournemouth or Palace is going to agree to go back there in a couple of years, if he excels at a different club in the meantime. He'll want a move to a big club. The fact that we might be entertaining this type of deal shows that were thinking like a big club.
  17. AJ and his agent will be instrumental in the creating a lot of terms of any contract - it won't be a case of clauses being inserted by Villa on the sly. My guess is that the move to Burnley is made possible due to the lowish transfer fee - something I would guess the player is pushing for to get regular PL game time. In return, the club would like the option to buy the player back, with terms of this arrangement both pre agreed with the player and Burnley. Everyone would need to be happy with the this from the get go, otherwise there is no deal. With regards to the lack of buy back clauses being optioned in the past, I would say that speaks volumes of just how few promising talents prove to be good enough to actually be recalled by a top team. The Villa of old could never get away with this, as any promising youngster stood a good chance of game time. If the event arose that a talented academy player wanted regular football before there was a chance here, there's no way that if they proved successful they'd agree to come back to a consitently poor Villa team. FWIW, I believe the only way AJ doesn't come back is if his progress doesn't match ours.
  18. You ever see your brand doing a kit in the near future, or does it not make sense commercially?
  19. That's literally been posted by him in the last couple of hours
  20. @NurembergVillan a lot of us regular folk, myself included. are wondering if the players are sweating more in the kit, or is the material showing the sweat more? Is it intentional?
