  1. I think he'll turn out a way better striker than Watkins, over time. In fact, I've had a bet with a mate of mine that Archer will end up with more senior England caps than Ollie......but I still wouldn't object to us signing another proven forward to boost the squad.
  2. I agree with all of the above John..... 1. Stan was a great pro over 2 spells here. 2. Aston Villa was just a promotional vehicle for Baron Ellis of Bicyclekick. 3. Dwight Yorke showed his true colours kissing the SHA badge....they kind of deserved each other.
  3. Ok, fair play. I thought all that display stuff was provided and installed by the club itself, didn't realise it was down to the B6 guys....
  4. How are they trying to help the club and fans ? Genuine question, not trying to be a smart arse....
  5. Last couple of times I was at a pre-season friendly at the Bescot (admittedly pre Covid) Walsall fans could pay on the day so a lot of Villa fans paid and went in Walsall end. There were no problems, bit of banter but no aggro - not sure if you can still do the same ?
  6. Watched a stable review with Richard Fahey the other day, where he said he'd got his best ever crop of 2 year olds this year. My Royal Ascot strategy will be backing a few of his young horses in e/w multiples if they're decent enough prices.
  7. I've never been one for youtube highlights and our recent record of signings from the Belgian league (apart from Benteke) hasn't been great, but I really like what I've seen of this kid.....really quick feet and speed of thought, not afraid to have a dig from distance, comfortable using his weaker left foot.....I think he'll be a big player, probably not with us, but I've seen worse gambles for €20m (the fee I've seen bandied about)...
  8. As so-called retro influenced shirts go, that is the one we should be bringing back. Remember getting it for Xmas as an 11 year old and thinking I was gonna be the next Andy Gray when I put it on.....I know, I know, jumpers for goalposts etc etc....
  9. I thought it was pretty obvious ? Neither Madrid or Paris have a Big John's.......#announceasensio
  10. Probably asking Unai if the coffee machine at the PSG training ground was cash or card.....
  11. Get 7 bus from outside Snow Hill, drops you on Witton Rd, 2mins walk to ground : £2
  12. I'd like to meet Ashley Young on a sesh - just so I can ask him why Liam Ridgewell's wedding got cancelled....
  13. I think Brighton will beat Citeh 3-0....then we'll beat Brighton 18-0 and miss a penalty in injury time.....written in the stars.
  14. ' tis the punishment you deserve for the blasphemous behaviour of watching egg-chasers......come back to the true faith before tis too late to save your soul'
  15. Apparently, Sky have decided to show the Leicester and Everton games live on Sunday, with another channel going from ground to ground as goals go in. Obviously, a 'qualifier' for European places isn't as attractive as Smith vs Moyes or Dyche vs O'Neil....tosspots. So, unless you find a venue with a dodgybox or stream you'll probably be out of luck unfortunately.....
  16. 600m ? Only if we're talking lira rather than sterling.
  17. I was told (by a bloke in the pub admittedly) that if Man City and Man Utd both win their European comps, then Champions League qualification goes down to 5th place and if either one of them wins the FA Cup, the Europa League spots go to 6th and 7th respectively.....leaving Conference league qualification to 8th place. It sounded plausible at the time but I was about 12 pints of Guinness in, at the time ? So f**k knows, even I'm confused now...
  18. Although its the club's 150th birthday next year, we didn't move to the site which is now Villa Park until 1897 - still a very good year though, we did the League and FA Cup double !
  19. It should have been....it was in 1998
  20. I've seen plenty of polls thanks. The next election won't be decided by Gary Lineker but by the balls up the government have made of many things......I look forward to the Labour party doing much better.
  21. Says who ? There are a lot of people who believe that the death penalty should be re-introduced, although we're getting off topic there. Just because you dont like the sound of something doesnt mean that anybody who does is a rabid right wing baby smotherer. As for source ? Open your ears, although if you're not living in the UK (not sure of your location) you'll not hear any of this....
  22. I suspect most people in this country couldn't give a toss whether Lineker fronts MOTD or whether the other non-entities appear on Football Focus, Final Score or Strictly Skating Idol or whatever shite the BBC considers itself good at, these days. The bloke's entitled to his opinion, but equally we're all entitled to view him as a smug pompous clearing in the woods. I think the point a lot of people are forgetting, is that quite a high number of people are actually in agreement with the government's proposed new policy, that Lineker's got his knickers in a twist about. (I'm not buying or selling either way as I don't claim to know enough about the subject). There'll be the usual virtue signalling c-listers versus the so called right wing pundits calling each other names for a week and then it'll die down. BBC management will go back to being an extension of Tory Central office, whilst BBC news will go back to being an extension of the Socialist Workers party. T'was ever thus.....
