  1. Doubt we’d pay that for Ugarte. £40m tops. Like you say, we have other areas of the squad that need addressing and that’s a huge chunk of our money.
  2. I reckon we’ll be after all 3 with one more attacking player on the list
  3. a lot of noise about this and even their manager has stated he’ll be leaving and it will be sorted soon… Classic Wednesday material
  4. The biggest for me in recent times was losing to Fulham in the play offs. It was absolutely the best thing that has happened to this club in the last 5-7 years simply because that Xia would have caused untold damage to the club had we been promoted. He was a fraudster and a con-man. Luckily, we lost, and we have two incredible owners who saved us, brought in a world class manager, and now we’re on the cusp of Europe. Lord only knows where we’d be had we gone up that year in the playoffs under Xia.
  5. This was a truly, truly awful decision from the most arrogant bloke to referee the game.
  6. We do if there is a release clause
  7. I have a horrible feeling there is some sort of agreement/clause in his contract that could see him leave this Summer for a decent price (£50m??). I actually think he could leave this window
  8. Gerrard didn’t play him or Mings. Our best two players this season. Sigh
  9. Really interesting thread. Nice work. Agree with all of it. Could have been so different
  10. Is he better than Dendoncker? If so, bring him in and sell the Donk.
  11. Can’t quite believe just how poor Leicester are all over the pitch
  12. The only player I'd take from Leeds is Adams and even he wouldn't start for us.
  13. Telling that he's dropped as soon as Kamara and Bailey are deemed fit enough to start again.
  14. Our lack of goals should be remedied by bringing in a good player to play the no.10 role. If we can get 10-12 goals out of this player, then we'll be a much better side.
  15. I'd love him here. Think he'd be perfect in that role behind the striker!
  16. Genuine question, could two left footed centre halves play together?
  17. Tyler Adams is their only player who gets in a top 8 side. Gnonto has potential and Rodrigo/Harrison are bottom half PL players.
  18. It really depends what kind of football you want to be playing. I wouldn’t fancy Mellberg in an Emery side, nor perhaps even Laursen given I don’t remember them being the best with the ball at their feet. If you’re talking out and out defending though, Laursen is the best I’ve seen. I remember him playing against Drogba one match and bullying the bloke - literally shoving him off the ball if he went anywhere near him. He was an absolute colossus and one of my favourite ever players. Mellberg held us together at the back for a long time but a lot of that was due to his pace, one on one ability and positional play. I’d have to pick a fit Laursen over him. Mings in his current form against Laursen is a tough one. Right now, you could argue Mings has absolutely everything in his game. Ball carrying ability, passing ability, pace, strength, aerial ability. You know at some point he’s probably going to make another mistake though which always plays on mind (touch wood, touch wood, touch wood) Tough one.
  19. I’m all in for the Conference League. If we don’t make it now, given the run we’ve been on, I’m going to be gutted, especially considering how poor Spurs have been and how much their own fans hate them. Like others have said, I don’t think we can trust Leeds to get a result against Spurs. They’re a god awful side and I’d back Kane to get a couple against them given his form. We’re going to have to go and beat Brighton at VP which we will if we play like we did against Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle and United at home to name but a few. Can’t believe now nervous I am. Especially having found out the Athens flight is non-refundable.
  20. Emery has been the best thing to happen to the club since appointing Dean Smith. It’s why I want the club to go out and get him 4/5 first team players this Summer and really back him. I don’t care what anyone says, I don’t think our squad is all that great but he has players like Mings and Luiz playing like prime Beckenbaeur and Scholes. He is our shot at the big time. We HAVE to go for it this Summer.
  21. Id be really interested to see what the club do in the Summer with regards to outs. There’s the obvious players like Traore, Sanson, Olsen, but there are also players like Dendoncker, Bailey, Buendia who are on the fringes (or they are if everyone is fit). Then you have the high earners like Digne and Coutinho who I think we’d probably be better off getting rid of but one could argue Digne has his worth. Coutinho, I think the ship has sailed. Then, and this is the part that interests me, there are the players that have a genuine value and are considered first team regulars. I wouldn’t want to sell McGinn or Watkins or Luiz, but what if somebody comes in with stupid money? Say somebody offers £60m for Watkins? What do you do then? Will the club back itself to go out and find someone better? And McGinn. He’s had a wonderful season and looks reborn as a player but approaching 30, would we cash in if an offer came in? Cash is another player who hasn’t had a great season but would probably fetch £30m… Every player has their price, I get that, I’m just wondering if the club will really back Emery and sell players the fans consider as good enough to go out and buy somebody else.
