  1. I'd like to think we will be ok, but, with so many freak results popping up, we really could find our survival being taken out of our hands. I'm sure I and a few others were lambasted when we suggested that the teams beneath us could amass 10 points in 10 games...
  2. My wife let me watch the Liverpool and Stoke games on the TV while we were on our honeymoon. I gave up on the Stoke game as soon as Gardner gave away the free kick. I even told the chap next to me 'needless foul, cross will go in, Huth will rise miles above any Villa player and nod it in'...I called it correctly. So disappointing. I'm swapping stuff around at work so I can see the Bolton and Spurs games...I'm not sure why as I know they'll be crap!
  3. Linked with Andy J again...if we ended up with him, I'd be so disappointed with McLeish...well, more disappointed than I am now...
  4. Linked with Andy J again...if we ended up with him, I'd be so disappointed with McLeish...well, more disappointed than I am now...
  5. Being linked with Andy Johnson again in the papers today, this sort of signing does not change my thinking. He's been shit for a long time, why are we even interested in him? Next we'll be breaking the bank for Bendtner... Nothing about Villa at the moment makes me want to renew.
  6. Having watched the last 3 games, I have changed from yes, to no. We are so terrible to watch. If we stay up, I'll be amazed.
  7. Gabby has never had to play for his place or even a new contract. He checked in for his summer holiday in January, in fact, no, in November...
  8. I'll renew, even in the Championship...i think...but the doubt is only because the footba is not fun to watch anymore, every game is the same, it's always horrible to watch no.
  9. If people are still moaning after getting a point today then they'll never be happy. Poor form or not, Liverpool should have rolled us over, but they didn't andd we come away with a valuable point atfer what I've heard was a valiant (defensive) display. This is 1 point and a better goal difference more than we all expected.
  10. I agree with what seems to be the general prediction... Liverpool have lost 3 in a row, two of their star signings can't buy a goal...therefore, they will beat Villa comfortably with both players scoring for fun. I've said it before and I'll say it again; 'Everyone breaks their record against the Villa', time to roll over and have our bellies rubbed...
  11. Bent all day long. I nearly shit myself when it was announced on here that he was in talks...I'd never been so excited by a signing! Was pleased with Given too, but I think his signing lacked excitement because we'd lost Big Brad, so it wasn't like we'd been crying out for a keeper for years.
  12. I'm glad to see that this thread has turned a bit more positive. The people moaning about the quality of the teams was a bit embarrassing to be honest...it's like we are a club ob of 15 year old girls (not offence)...
  13. Yeah, you're right, what I'm showing though is that the teams around us ARE capable of picking up the necessary points...especially with the games we have to play!
  14. Take a look at this: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Liverpool-fans-look-away-now-What-the-Premier-League-table-would-look-like-if-the-season-started-in-January-article884186.html (sorry, I don't know to link properly. If you look, all of the teams around us have picked up between 5 and 12 points in 10-12 games...with 8 games to go and us not looking like picking up many points between now and May, it seems quite plausible that any number of the bottom clubs could pull out some huge results and grab the 10 points needed to see us down... I do acknowledge that they have to play each other as well as some difficult sides...but it just shows that we're not as safe as people seem to think! A win would probably see us safe though...
  15. I still don't think he'd sign for us, because, I'm sure that regardless of what has or hasn't been said, he probably thinks we are shit...I'm not going to be in denial like others who are clinging to any shred of evidence that we are not awful right now. I think this because at the moment, we are shit. In all honesty, if we hadn't got as many of those draws early on and we'd lost instead, we'd be in the bottom 3 and rightly so. Our form and performances have been terrible all year, bar a few exceptions, even I would think twice about signing for us right now, and I am the worst footballer on the planet. I love Villa, I love them so much, I am totally comfortable with being so honest about our situation!
  16. Spuds, so am I... Ranieri only seems to be in the news when: a. His expensive bunch of players have won something or b. He has been sacked because his expensive bunch of players have been playing badly Not the man for a club in our position.
  17. I'm just making a decision about 2 opinions. I didn't hear the Talksport thing and I am not really that bothered about getting a Dutch speaker to translate it... Based on all the evidence I have...an apparent statement from a radio show and someone who says their mate speaks Dutch, I say it sounds more believable that he thinks we're turd. I could say "My friend speaks Dutch, he says that it roughly translates to "I heard about the interest from Villa, but I also heard the ice cream over in the UK tastes like creamy piss, so I'll stay here and get a fat wage increase when a bigger club comes in..." Does that mean it's true?!
  18. That top 30 makes for interesting reading...perhaps it is not a case of Moyes not wanting to leave Everton, and more that we aren't prepared to pay the extra for him...
  19. I agree with AshVilla It's far more believable that he thinks we're shit, mainly, because we are.
  20. The big issue as I see it, is that when the teams below us are putting in great performances and getting extra wins/draws when they shouldn't, we are just rolling over and letting teams walk it in. Even in the games we should win we have struggled. I would also add though, giving the ball away to the opposition is a mistake by a player, not by McLeish. This reminds me too much of Blues last year. Come final day, nobody could see how they'd got there, they'd been 'safe' in March. Unless we pick up a few points in the next 4, I think we'll be bang in trouble. The pressure will be on. Had the Bolton game been played, it may have been different (had Fabrice not collapsed). We'd have gone in on a high, possibly won, pulled clear. Whereas now, by the time we do play them (one of our few winnable games), it may have turned into a 6 pointer! I'm not 100% sure we'll be save, I wouldn't even say I was 50% sure...results are NOT going our way.
  21. I'm hoping for after the 14th...I'm on honeymoon until then!
  22. Very funny CI...I left him well alone after my initial chat with him, he's on his day off and I'm ever the professional!
  23. Flew Dunney out of Birmingham the other day, he has been given some time off while his injury (which was heavily strapped) heals. Really decent bloke, chatted to me about the result Saturday, something he genuinely seemed to be pleased about, his wife was also really friendly and was glad to hear that Andi had got the winner. Standing next to him I noticed something, and I will be blunt about this, those who say his is overweight are talking complete bollucks. Honestly, I am a small guy, in both height and weight and Dunney, who is over 6ft, wasn't much bigger round the middle than me, and I'm 5ft 8 with a 32in waist. He looked to be in very good condition for someone who hasn't played/trained for a few weeks.
  24. Gabby is good when doesn't have to think. If he gets the ball played through, time for one touch...bang, back of the net. If he get's the ball played through, time for control, second touch, shot...he'll hit the keeper. When he was 1 on 1 with Schwarzer on Saturday, the minute he took that second touch I knew he'd hit the keeper, so did everyone around me. He is quick, strong(er than he was), he puts in 100% when he isn't injured, can bag us about 10 goals a year. He's not worth £58k a week talent wise, but then, when you've been with a company as long as he has been with Villa, naturally your salary will go up to a higher level than a new starter of the same ability, it's all about loyalty isn't it?! Unless you could sell him and find someone of equal or better ability for the amount we sold him for and on less wages, he should stay, it's a no brainer in my book. With that in mind, I don't think you'd get enough for him to replace him with someone of equal ability. Having only played for Villa and never really shining for England his price would be low, clubs wouldn't take a risk in case he would crumble out of his comfort zone!
  25. If Villa's new kits are a claret shirt and blue sleeves in the same style as Napoli home and the a different colour in the style of Napoli away...in the same material, even with the 'Macron' labelling, I'd buy both. I think the Napoli away is really smart and I've always liked the home... Even as I type, I am loving the idea more and more...simple and stylish... Then again, knowing Villa we'll end up with panels and stripes and blocks of colour like the other 'English' style shirts by Macron. Please let them be like Napoli's kits, please!
