  1. I can imagine that the club/kit supplier have a person, a team perhaps, who are tasked with coming up with designs to present to a committee who decide which design to take forward... I can imagine all involved are paid. How is that people on this forum can consistently come up with really decent designs, with little effort, normally based on past glory years designs, that recieve general praise...but the club seem to be prone to releasing duds... Examples of recent years The Nike kit released in Spain, that looked exactly the same as te year before, but with a round neck... The FXPro checked monstrosities This seasons kits, which weren't te worst ever, but they were inferior to designs here... That said, last seasons kits (Nike), I liked. The first acorns kits, were good, as was the England inspired one...
  2. I see where you are coming from, but, one of the 'big boys' will bid, it's inevitable. What he has done here is put us at a loss, as clubs now know they won't have to pay top whack for him as they know he will throw his toys out like he did at Genk. I wouldn't accept less than £30m, that's as cash, no trades. He may not be worth £30m, but he is worth that much to us. I hate football sometimes, I miss the days when everyone was able to compete...
  3. If he is still here on September 1st, I will be amazed. I do also think we might see Wiemann leave as well.
  4. So looks like we may fail to keep our best player again... I don't see how any team can ever improve anymore, unless you get into the top 4, the Champions League teams (and Spurs) will just poach all of your good players. Half of them won't even get used as much as they did with you (See Scott Sinclair) So it's pretty much, overhaul the top 5 in 1 season or lose your players at the end of it, or lose your players. There's no loyalty. Lambert is on talk sport this morning, hopefully we'll find out what's going on.
  5. A player I'd like to be linked with is Park Ji Sung from QPR. He's alright, nothing amazing, not a Johnny Big Bollucks, works hard...is seen as a messiah in South Korea...it would help is build our fanbase. Arsenal did it with Inamoto. If we bring people like Dawkins in on loan and don't play him, we might as well make our bench warmers work for us!
  6. Talking of Villa kits... Does anyone remember the OLD Villa shop in town, the one that was above birthdays by the odeon that was shared with a Man United shop too? In the first years of Asics, when we had the Muller shirt, does anyone remember the vast number of different goalie shirt designs available?! There was the multi coloured glass shards one, which was the home...then there was one with green squares, another with yellow squares and then another one with blue squares...an they're just the ones I can remember...I'm sure I remember about 6 different designs of keepers tops in there during the Asics season... Please tell me someone else remembers!!!
  7. Elated we're up, I really had confined myself to thinking we were meant to go down having won ALL the 6 pointers and still not been safe. I do find the abuse towards Savage a bit short sighted, as much as people might hate him...it's not like we've massively avoided going down, perhaps by 8 points come Sunday, but, in all honesty, most of us were terrified until about 2115 last night...it's been a close call! I can't wait to enjoy the wonder that is the final day, only to feel depressed as Match of the Day finishe and I realise I have to find something else to do until August!
  8. Are they asking the bands to wear the kit? If so, photos as soon as it is in his possession please!
  9. Totally agree, Sylla has featured quite a bit, but Dawkins I don't even think has been on the bench...so you have to question why we offered to take him on loan (unless his wages were free) He looked ok to me, better than Bannan by a huge amount, although perhaps Lambert didn't expect Westwood, Sylla and Delph to play as they have since January. At Lambert has had a really decent look at him in training so if he thinks he good enough, we'll take him on a free. I'd hoped it would allow us to us a different shape and bring DB9 in with wide players as a plan B...but again, with Benteke destroying all in his path, you don't really need a plan B!

Surely, should Arsenal lose again, they have grounds to complain to the FA...that's a shocking % and the free kick decision today just looks awful

I'm not sure I'd be able to bet £50, I'm not THAT convinced we'd go down...£10 I can see the point of. I told a friend to do it at 40-1 a week ago...a £10 on that would give you £400 back...when looking at scenarios, it was still somewhat likely, as our current situation has shown. If Wigan do lose tonight, good, it was never in doubt, but, if they win, we all knew it would happen...that's te nature of an inconsistent team...that's why they (we) are all down at the bottom. As for GD the Chelsea game is covered by the Sunderland game...both freak...I agree with the poster that said it will be the silly goals that we conceded when winning, or even more costly would be the goal for Fulham, after they had 0 shots on target... Imagine the irony...saved by Wiemann's last minute bundle across the line against Fulham last year, relegated by Fulham's 'goal without a shot' this year!

When it comes to betting against your own team, you have to look at it like this. Football is a business. That how the owners treat it, it's how the players treat it, it's how the agents treat it, it's how the sponsors treat it. It's all about making money. Why should we, the fans, the ones paying for the whole charade, miss out on this business? I'd be distraught if we went down, but if I'd made an insurance bet, I'd be financially better off. If I hadn't a pot to piss in, Villa being in the Premier League wouldn't help pay my bills... I love Villa, always have, always will, but I'm putting a lot into them, the club wants to take as much money as it can from each fan...we have to get our money somewhere...it's business

I've decided, if Wigan beat Arsenal and Norwich, Newcastle Sunderland an Southampton win today, I'm just going to accept that we're not meant to stay up. If you'd told me about 3 months go that before the end of the season we would win 5 out of 9 games, beating all of our rivals (comfortably), scoring over 12 goals, only losing to Man Yoo, Chelsea and Liverpool, I'd have called you mad. To have done all that and still not been safe is as mad as us having such a terrible run of games at Christmas and still not being bottom of the league. We don't deserve to go down this year, but Wigan seem to have a lot of luck... If McManaman had been sent off against Newcastle, so much might have been different! For what it's worth, I now think we'll beat Wigan, but, if they overcome Arsenal, you've just got to accept that fate probably isn't on your side
  14. Agreed. I said today, I wanted Lamps to score, he deserves the record he has set. True professional. Genuinely seemed humbled by the applause he got as he left the pitch. Of course, I wanted us to be 2 goals up when he scored!
  15. Sylla was immense today and Delph, well, I was one of Delph's biggest critics but recently, especially today, he was exceptional
  16. Macron are on twitter, I've just tweeted with #makeithappen and a picture
  17. The Villa Lion Himself couldn't shit something that awesome! It's a beaut alright! Agreed, I'd buy that, one for the wife too...
  18. I'm sorry, but I still don't understand what happened here...what did he do wrong? People are telling me he has been made to train with the kids...but why? Did he bad mouth the club again or something? When he was used earlier in the season, he was ok, no worse than some of the other 'performances' of others...if anything, he looked to be the one who might create something. If its because he's not very good, then why is Bannan anywhere near the team, he should be training with the kids as well. His attitude stinks as well if people at his local are to be believed... I know we didn't get the player we hoped, but I don't understand why Lambert has cast him off completely...
  19. I thought I'd seen your funniest post...this proves there's still more to come!
  20. Yes, Arsenal are in a bad way at the moment, so are we.... To only lose 2-1 to a team who are much better than us isn't a bad thing... We need points, but we didn't expect anything out of this or next week anyway
  21. People who are knocking Dawkins are doing so based on a very small amount of game time. I thought he looked ok on the ball, was scared to run or run at players, and did very little wrong. For someone a lot on people on here were calling useless, he did ok. I think he may prove to be a handy option. Absolutely elated with the result. Totally exhausted from shouting so much. Really good stuff from the boys once we got the penalty to the final whistle. I'd forgotten how good it felt to go home with a win!
  22. I was confident of a win until you said that... Everyone...and I mean, everyone, breaks their record against the Villa...everyone. yep! swansea got their first away win at villa park last season, torres scored his first premier league goal in six months against us last march, newcastle got their first away win at villa park this season, southampton kept their first clean sheet of the season against us, and even the millwall fans i was talking to in the pub were telling me that they hadn't scored from a corner in two or three years, prior to our match. although i don't know how accurate that is. they're just the ones off the top of my head but there's been far more than that over the past three years. we're the gift that keeps on giving. Rooney having a dry spell? Hat trick against the Villa...the list is endless
  23. I was confident of a win until you said that... Everyone...and I mean, everyone, breaks their record against the Villa...everyone.
  24. If we'd won against the baggies or Everton, we'd been embarking on a really good run, I can just feel it...I feel that same about West Ham, but fail to win and I agree with most...it really will look like curtains!
