  1. It makes me laugh that people expect us to somehow get a point or better...we've lost over 50% of our games at home this season...
  2. It makes me laugh that the OP was asked for input sand within hours there were 3 designs from last year that wear amazing...why not give the designers a year off and just use them?!
  3. People calling for Clark to play instead of Baker is like asking to be shot in the face rather than have your neck broken... Clark lacks Baker's strength and Baker lacks Clark's defensive mind...if combined into 1 player, you'd have 1 decent centre back...as 2 separates you may as welcome just put a welcome mat at CB
  4. Odds on Villa to get relegated post Chelsea were 50-1...our longest odds all season...I was going to stick a cheeky £10 (+ £10 free bet) on it (baby on way, buying bigger house) but I just never got round to it... I was still concerned about our form post-Chelsea so stuck on £60 quid. At 50-1. If the worst happens I'm going to take my new wife (getting married next week) on a special holiday, But I never win bets - let alone 3 grand - so you can all rest easy that we'll beat Hull! I applaud you mate, football is a business now, so why shouldn't us fans treat it as such... To be honest, if we do go down, it'll be worth it knowing you've won the cash to treat your new wife, I even feel better about not putting the bet on myself. Good luck with the wedding day, don't let the results get in the way of it. Best thing I ever did was get married! Congrats!
  5. Odds on Villa to get relegated post Chelsea were 50-1...our longest odds all season...I was going to stick a cheeky £10 (+ £10 free bet) on it (baby on way, buying bigger house) but I just never got round to it...
  6. Were you saying ti after the Chelsea game? DIdnt think so. I think you'll find I was one of few still saying I didn't think we were safe and that I thought we'd still struggle to stay up... ...just so you know
  7. I've said it since September, we aren't good enough to stay up.
  8. Its more the fact that they knew the changes and the formation that none of us could have predicted! Could this perhaps give a more telling insight into why Culverhouse and Karsa have been suspended? Wasn't there talk of someone inside the club leaking starting line ups?
  9. To be honest, they're not exactly ground breaking reports on each player, you only need to watch them a handful of times to make the same assessments...any one of us would say exactly the same about most of them.
  10. My main annoyance is I didn't put a bet on it at 50-1...I was still convinced we would go down...yet I wouldn't put my money where my mouth was...
  11. I completely agree with this, everyone seems to chastise Lerner for not throwing money at the problem. Surely by wanting to balance the books and make us a sustainable business is a better way to run a club that to just plough more and more money into it, throwing us into more and more debt. Just imagine the financial hit Sunderland will take if they are relegated, with player contracts similar to what we had under O'Neill, Fulham are the same. Surely safeguarding the future of the clubs finances was and is a sensible idea. Sure, we have risked our premier league survival, which could be counter productive, but at least we wouldn't be hit as hard if we did go down. Plus, Lambert has spent £50m, it's not like we've not spent at all.
  12. When PF talks about coming off the back of two good wins, he forgets that they were proceeded by another load of shit. The problem this year is that we have consistently poor, showing only short bursts of ability, whereas last season it was poor, but then we pulled together and put a run together. I wish the club would just be up front and say 'yeah, we're shit, we know, the young and hungry things hasn't really worked, we're not going to change anything until the end of the season, so let's try and get behind the lads in case we surprise ourselves and get a win'
  13. I didn't renew this year and next year is in no danger of being different. For near on £600 a year I have watched utter rubbish for the past 3/4 years. I'm now seeing what can only be described as a team of reserve standard players playing what looks like a poor pub team game. I've watched Lambert freeze out decent players who he doesn't want to play, to bring in these young and hungry players who want to work hard...they just don't seem very hungry to learn from mistakes or even learn the basics...but that's ok, it's business... For me, me not spending that £600 a year is a business decision, I no longer see it as a good investment of my time or money. I'm also sick of the PR machine we have become, everything is about sponging as much money from the fans as possible...the squad numbers announced, that you have to go on the website for, to see all the adverts. While still ignoring the fact that this is the worst we have been for a long time. For those of you who say "yes" without question, yet moan on this board, you're just as much a part of the problem as those who stay away, you're the ones making the club feel that they don't need to change as 'those mugs will renew whatever happens, so why bother?!' Just think, there's 10k or so not turning up, but there's 25k of you who follow blindly. I can appreciate when people do renew for the banter and the social aspect, I'll be thrilled if my little one would want me to take her to games, those fans who's teenagers want to go with them as well must be doing something right to mean that their teenagers want to spend that tie with them. Just please don't post your badge of honour here, trying to make other fans feel less of themselves, only to go and moan about everything wrong with the club in another topic. (Not directed at everyone who has said yes...as I've said above, I can appreciate your reasons.)
  14. The most annoying part of this all is that I still thought we would be relegated after the Chelsea game, the odds were 50-1 in some places and I didn't put a £10 on it...
  15. I'm just going to say it now, we are awful, he has to go.
  16. I agree with Delboy, every transfer window is the same, they mug the fans off with press conferences that hint at players being looked at and nothing ever comes of it. We get taken for mugs so often now by this club and Lambert is a master at playing us along, that's why the club are so happy with him...or at least that's one way to see it
  17. I'm not wasting my time either, but you aren't right If you think I'm happy with things as they are then you really haven't understood what I've said. This is the only point I'm trying to get across here: Things are crap, but we have by far the best manager we could possibly attract on this tiny budget. We should get behind him, because if he goes I seriously shudder at the many, many possible worse options we might end up with. Just remember what he did for Norwich - he hasn't turned into a bad manager overnight. One thing I will disagree with, we've lost 10 games at home, we're currently in relegation form, we've lost to most of our rivals and we've only had a maybe 5-10 good performances... Yes, we have been dog shit pretty much all year.
  18. An excellent post. I totally agree, te defence are still a shambles after 2 years and you hit the nail right on the head, it's the BASICS...sometimes they look like they haven't played in years, let alone played together...the mistakes are so common as well, the same mistakes that we never learn from. We sold Collins and let Dunne (who in fairness was injured a LOT) leave, but they were a damn sight more solid than Baker and Clark seem to be. For me, I've lost all faith in Lambert taking us forward, every good performance is short lived and we soon fall back into looking like a bunch of clowns. Losing against so many rivals this year is pathetic, you'd think that beating the big guns would make up for it, but our lack of consistency takes the shine of it. We won't sack him and the entire footballing media think we should...I just hope we don't end up looking (even more) stupid...
  19. Do you know for sure that Helenius is fit? He was certainly injured pretty recently. He's been on the pitch for us for about 70 minutes and scored 1 goal. Your "prime example" is a prime example of nothing. So now he's spent FIFTY million, eh? Wow, it keeps going up. I'd be fascinated if you could back up that claim with a factual list of our purchases and their prices. Your claim that Lambert "can't motivate the players" would be perfectly reasonable if he had enough quality at his disposal. He doesn't because he hasn't had nearly, nearly enough money to spend. Bottom line, end of story. Why can't people take that into account? I don't blame you for not renewing your season ticket. Aston Villa have really served up some rubbish lately, but the manager has not had a fair chance to show what he might be able to do because WE DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY. And the fact that we don't have any money should be making us realise that we aren't going to attract a better manager than Lambert in a million billion years. My opinion is my opinion, yours is yours. A lot of people agree with me, a lot of people agree with you. If you want to look up the information and check if I'm right, then do so, but I'm certainly not wasting my time. We aren't good enough in my opinion. If you're happy with things as they I then excellent!
  20. Okore's been injured for just about the whole year. Benteke for about a third of it - remember, he's the guy that saved us from relegation last season. We haven't been dog shit all year, we've had good times and bad times. We're having bad times particularly now because the injury list is actually so bad it's taking the piss. The fact that, regardless of the players we bought in, we struggled without just 2 players, shows that the squad isn't good enough. We've managed to win a handful of games against the big teams, yet he doesn't seem to motivate the players for the games that we actually should win... He's spent money that he's had badly, Helenius is a prime example. If you can't buy well, don't buy at all. He's spent £50m since he's been here and he's actually weakened the team. Don't just buy for the sake of it...especially when he brings in Bennett-shit and Bowery-terrible. If you're happy to accept another season of this, I'm happy for you. I'm certainly not happy to accept this. I didn't renew this year and I've only been to 2 awful games...it won't change next year. I'm not paying to watch the crap football we play. We all love Villa, but I just cannot see how Lambert has proved he can take us forward.
  21. People keep blaming injuries...have people forgotten that we've been dog shit pretty much all year...
  22. I like the answer to the season ticket price increase question. They know exactly what was being asked: HOW can you justify a price increase BASED IN THE QUALITY OF FOOTBALL ON SHOW. They just chose to pretend that the question wasn't loaded...to make it look like they have addressed concerns. I'm one of the 5000/10000 that have stopped turning up...I didn't renew last year for the first time in 6 years and I've only been twice this year...both times it was bloody awful, so I haven't bothered wasting my time (not money, TIME) coming to watch games...a few people who have commented are absolutely right, do as many offers and promotions you like, you're not going to get people to come and watch games when the quality of entertainment is so poor... ...and that's before you get to the fact that the people that fans are paying to watch, earn more for turning up and 'playing' 90 minutes of football (or at least they are on the pitch for 90 minutes) than most fans earn in a month.
  23. The problem is there is absolutely no progression with him, no sign of improvement or of development. He just keeps on making errors and often the same errors. I just don't think he is a PL standard CB even as 3rd or 4th choice. I agree totally..he never seems to learn from an error. He was once tipped to be a star and a future England caption, before he chose to play for Ireland of course...but he is still getting caught out in the same way as when he first started playing in the team...he's got almost 100 games under his belt now surely, so inexperience is no longer an excuse...
  24. I agree 100%, I could never see why people were praising him as our saviour. It's the same with this Carruthers kid, he's doing alright in the reserves and stuff but he's not pushing for a starting place yet people are calling him for him to play, hailing him as our salvation...much like we did with Wiemann, and look how that has turned out...a decent season followed by a damp squib...
  25. In my opinion, Yanited can't seem to be able to buy a decent performance, a convincing win or a few goals... ...so I'm pretty certain that we'll get hammered 5-0 as they steam roller us looking like a well oiled machine...while we roll over to have our bellies rubbed...
