  1. All Michael Johnson had was mental forkintogob... I'm only joking, nobody eats burgers with a fork...
  2. Just watched a couple of YouTube clips...he can hit a good shot, he uses his head...maybe he'll bag a couple of long range goals, it'll help because we are struggling to break people down!
  3. I don't see Zoggy a wide player, he always cuts inside. Last season you could have built a moderately sized housing estate in the casm of open space left in front of our fullback, the area between the oppositions wide man and fullback...Charlie was always drifting into the middle...this made Barry Bannan sad as he had nobody to float his cross field Hollywood ball to...he wasn't to be deterred though, Barry played the pass anyway... On the subject of Charlie though, he doesn't half look sharp at the moment!
  4. Ok. I know he's not a marquee name, but as far as I see it (and I may be wrong as I'm only going on what I have been told)... Dawkins can play out wide. Albrighton can play out wide (not that well at the moment). This means we have 2 wide men. This means we can have a plan b when our usual long ball down the middle doesn't work. It means that when we bring on Darren Bent, we can actually play a style of football that suits him, as we have wide players who can cross the ball (Albrighton maybe 1in 5 good crosses)... But hey, I'm just being positive about. Welcome to Villa Simon, I hope you prove the doubters wrong!
  5. I know, I'm just trying to make one too
  6. Right. An idea for Abraham's cryptic 'clue' Banana Bannan off to Orange Blackpool and we buy Charlie Adam('s) Apple...
  7. Just seen us linked to Kenwyne Jones...a big no for me. He would be a back up to Benteke but he'd cost most in wages than Benteke. I'd rather take Huth, Etherington, Walters or even Adam over Jones...I'd even say I'd be happier with Pennant (who is out on loan) as he's a winger...all the above would be if we sold them Bent...
  8. What's deflated me recently is how lambert has now started to say 'well, I do kind of want people, but I don't think we'll get anyone'...it's almost like he's given up...maybe he has, but it's a change from his confident outlook from 2 weeks ago

    Relegation

Honestly, I wouldn't say we were better than any of them I'm afraid...recently they've all picked up points when they shouldn't or have fought back to get wins...we've done nothing like that...

A few points, although I am in agreement with you... We don't need to double our points, half a season is 19 games, in which we got 18-20 points...so we need to match the first half, but a little better, to make up for the 5 games we've had of this half... Our form changed after Liverpool, in 1 week, after Chelsea destroyed us. Should we somehow take a major scalp, perhaps beating Everton away, maybe we could expect some kind of confidence back... Like I say, I agree with you, we're down...but I'm trying to remain positive through logic rather than the blind faith others have shown...

If we don't get relegated, I shall wear my my clothes upside down, so trousers on top ad jumps on bottom at the last game of the season... Somebody made a good point in the January thread...even after we have been mauled and hammered and humiliated by pretty much everyone, we're still only just in the bottom 3. I'm pretty sure we're going down, based mainly on our performances, but, it's not a lost cause just yet...we just need some wins...highly implausible, but not impossible...
  12. Yeah because buying overpriced British players worked so well for us. French or not, some of their new lads look good. Henry was French, so was Zidane, half of Arsenal's title winning side was French. I'd rather support Aston Villa, but I couldn't care less about about the nationality of the players!
  13. Not good enough He gives the ball away too often He has no composure He can't shoot very well He always looks for the first claret and blue shirt to pass to rather than looking for a good pass He tries to turn his way out of trouble, but his legs aren't really long enough to step over the ball. He can't take corners He lofts free kicks into the box rather than keeping them lower and more direct...in fact, every pass is lofted and gives the opposition time to out jump our short players. Lambert a perseverance is killing his confidence and it's killing us
  14. There are lots of people saying 'we need to get behind the boys' and that we shouldn't be booing or whatever... Against Bradford there were 40,000 people at Villa Park...last nightly there was just 30,000...I was there, the tactics were wrong and we played shit for the first 45 minutes. If survival is such an issue and support is so important, where were the other 10,000 people who weren't 'getting behind the team' Both games were on a Tuesday night, last nights was arguably more important...
  15. My worry is that when it wasn't working, they didn't change it!
  16. One thing I don't understand...apart from the obvious 'why is Bannan still playing' is why, when the tactic of pumping the ball to the far post for the knock down didn't work, did we carry on doing it?! Also Bannan is killing us, persevering with is going to kill his confidence and lose us the ball. He had plenty of time when Zoggy's shot came off the post, but he just ballooned it over the bar...come on Barry, I think you are shit, prove me wrong!!!!
  17. Anyone discounting NRC because he was released by Ipswich are forgetting WHY he was released...he wanted a longer contract, Ipswich could only commit to 6 months, which is probably to do with wages...we would need him for 6 months and then exten in needed. Look at where we are, not where we were!
  18. Hell yes that NRC! People need to look at where we are now, not where we were before!
  19. I'm sorry to keep banging the same old drum, but... Nigel Reo-Coker. He's free, he wasn't good enough for us when we were finishing 6th, but we're not that team anymore. He is better than what we have, he is stronger and he was a bloody good captain, so much so that there were unhappy VT'ers when Stan got the nod over him! He left as we wouldn't give him £40k a week, now, he can't ask for close to that. He's a steady and strong player, sure, he passes sideways a lot, but he doesn't concede possession like Bannan does and e has far more strength the KEA. Disagree if you want, but for me, I'd be bloody elated if we get NRC!
  20. Lerner's statement (in full via link from Tim Abraham) talks about how players have been targeting but nothing has YET materialise... I know this may be clever wordplay or clutching at straws, but I suppose it doesn't say we are not going to sign anyone. I suppose us going out and blowing £xm and £xk a week on Johnny Megastar (who would be open to a loan) does completely undo the work that has already been taken to address the wage problem and over paid cloggers we had in the team.
  21. In fairness, Ireland hasn't really been given a chance this season...in the games he has played (a small part) in, he's shown just as much as anyone else, but he never gets played...
  22. Arsenal apparently in for David Villa again, but I can't see Arsene paying what Barca will ask for... So... I can see them trying for Bent on deadline day, he'll be cheaper, he scores goals, Arsenal lack a poacher to put away chances. I hope that we have options lined up should Bent leave. I'll be sad if Bent leaves, the day we signed him and then when he scored to help us beat Citeh, were one of the last times I was truly elated as a Villa fan!
  23. I disagree with the idea that Randy just likes the idea of owning a sports team. Peter Pannu and his puppet master Carson Yeung are only holding to Blues because they that he owns a sports team and Pannu loves being Chief Exec or whatever he is... Randy isn't perfect, but he is not the same
  24. I totally agree and £6m is a good deal, but it shows short term thinking
  25. If we sold Wiemann, I would burn Villa Park to the ground...ok, maybe not, but I'd be really cross! I'm sorry but to me, I think he is the first name on the team sheet, he's quick, he can shoot, he can pas, he has confidence, he gives a shit about the club. When he scores, he doesn't tap it in, he bloody leathers it into the net (as opposed to over it)...I just don't understand why MON made us suffer watching Delfouneso when we had AW on the bench! If we can tie him to a new contract he will become a Villa legend! Sorry, it's a bit early for man crushes isn't it...
