I hope your right. The guardian seem to think he wants to stay and fight if Sherwood wants him. I would think so. I can't see why he wouldn't want a quality player next season. He might not start much, depending on the system, but can't see why Sherwood wouldn't have him in the squad.
  2. With the new tv deal, there really isn't any excuse to spend peanuts like the last few years.
  3. Have a long term plan, putting things in place to try and succeed and make sure these things run smoothly and continue. Currently we've slashed wages with the sole aim of surviving and now he's stepped back waiting for the club to be sold. Massive difference. Garbage. He gave Lambert a lengthy contract whilst having to cut costs (through his own fault) and promoting a "young and hungry" approach, whilst having already spent on our training facilities etc when first at the club. He's now appointed Tom Fox to ensure "things run smoothly". Everything he's done since the initial overspend and huge mess-up has been to stabilise the club long-term. Obviously, I massively blame Lerner for the mess we have been in, but everything since then has been done as a long-term thing and with the club in mind. This hasn't been a money making exercise at all. I didn't say it had. But the plan was quite clear. Survive while keeping costs down until the club is sold. That's not what other owners who were mentioned do. So not sure what's garbage about it.

Yep, didn't disagree, but when you're saying such daft things so early on its going to stick. So you may now be just wondering but when 3 weeks ago you wanted the manager gone over the player that's going to still be fresh.
  5. I disagree. I think the way he sets us up, the players he picks and the way we play have all been important to us. Much more than just players willing to put the effort in.

People made daft comments when Sherwood first joined so don't be surprised those stick in peoples minds. For what its worth I hope Gil is still here next year and I think he will have a big part in our team next season.

  8. We stay up and we won't be in this position next year. Sherwood is better than mcleish and Lambert.
  9. Which recent games have looked complacent? I dont think our mistakes are down to that at all.
  10. Things are starting to go wrong. Its going to be pretty horrible now. Sacking Lambert so late was such a mistake.
  11. Spot on. Absolutely nothing to do with the club. ... except own it ... and employ Tom Fox ... and provide a little money for Gil and Sinclair ... and rubberstamp Lambert out for Sherwood in other than that - what have the Romans... errr... Lerner ever done for us? He hired tom fox to help sell the club after selling it. From what Sherwood said when he joined it sounds like fox is making the decisions and running the club. I'm glad he's out the way, its the only time decent decisions have been made. He has nothing to do with the club and is waiting for it to be sold. "Nothing to do with the club" in what sense? I have no doubt he'll sell up if the right offer comes in, but I think he's still pretty involved. From what I remember, Sherwood made some comments when he joined about fox running the show. I dont think Lerner has much involvement at all at the moment.

  13. I'd be very surprised if he was making the same amount of forward runs and forward passes as he does currently under Lambert.
  14. This is why Lambert should have been gone so much earlier.
  15. Don't be - were playing our best football in years.... We are. But its late in the season and its still going to be close. Not sure what your problem is.
  16. Makes the squad stronger and IMO a much better free transfer than the likes of senderos, Richardson and Cole.

If I remember correctly, didn't you have quite a moan about the line up before we dominated the champions? And part of that moan was that Gil was not in the squad. It might not always be in this thread but I think people are moaning.
  18. How can guzan be blamed. Two players got out of the way. If they didn't the ball hits them and the wall did its job. That tells me the wall was set up correctly.
  19. If we can survive, I think there's a decent chance we could be a top 8 team next season. Benteke is playing well, enjoying his football and is the main man at a pretty big club. I hope he sees sense in staying for at least one more year.
  20. Or Lerner is asking for more than the reported price.
  21. He gets the ball, runs forward and usually makes a smart decision and executes it. He's doing that against top teams and important games. He's got some future.

But what does that matter now?

Are you being genuinely serious here pal? The only thing that I have seen from Sherwood since he arrived is a massive desire to see us stay in the Premier League and then to build from there. If he believed that Gil being in the team or on the bench would give us a better chance of doing that then he would be picking him. I only dip in and out of this thread as quite frankly Gil not currently seeing any game time is of no concern to me. The lad has played a handful of Premier League games. Looked very good in a couple and totally bullied out of the game against Hull and Stoke. I don't know why Sherwood isn't picking him but then I don't see the lad in training everyday and don't know how he is getting on as a 22 year old still settling in to a new country and new league. What I do know is that we are currently playing some cracking football, have just won two games against top six opposition and should for me have won the third, and that we have a manager and every single player getting game time giving every sinew to win every game between now and the end of the season. I can't speak for others but I'll back them all one hundred percent and not focus on why some lad who had been hit and miss in a handful of games is not currently getting a look in, For what it's worth though I think his time will come next season. I hope your right. Not even putting him on the bench though, with Cole and Weimann always there, personally a little harsh. Have you ever contemplated the idea that the issue is on Gil's side?
