  1. Sky Sports News loving twisting the knife this afternoon, particularly Kaveh Solhekol and seemingly any ex-Villa player they could coax out from behind their respective rocks.
  2. For sure (although not all top-level strikers possess those traits and I've no issue with Bert's finishing personally), but I'm saying in terms of where Dean's willing to let him play if need be. Same for Watkins really, since he can also play left wing. We now have three players up top who aren't afraid to pull the trigger, which is great for us and horrible for everyone else. There's no doubt Watkins will be the default centre forward though.
  3. I guess this makes him a bit like Bertie T in being able to play wide or as a striker. Gives us options, at least.
  4. It was genuinely the strangest thing I've ever seen, but perhaps it was his way of getting them comfortable in front of the camera. Kinda like media training.
  5. None of the Mario games are as good as Sonic 2 (the greatest game of all time) though. *ducks for cover*
  6. He's on the phone with somebody. He's hardly gonna stop and have a full-on chat/hug/smooch with Jack in the middle of a (possibly quite important and not necessarily related) conversation.
  7. In that case, I would argue this (or an '09 Mégane) to be McGinn
  8. No doubt has the ACTN3 gene all Jamaican sprinters have. Simply chose football over athletics. Quick as a hiccup.
  9. As if players aren't mates with players from other clubs. They all have Whatsapp groups and play Call of Duty together and whatnot.
  10. Seconded. Skoda was the joke car manufacturer of the 90s, but quite the opposite these days. I also hope McGinn wasn't one of them.
  11. It's utter trash. Bunch of wind-up merchants riling people into calling in. In my defence, it was more of something sport related to listen to while out on a walk (I'd gone through all the Villa themed podcasts for the week)
  12. Carlton Cole was slagging off Leon Bailey on Talksport earlier saying "I'm not even sure he's good enough to make Leverkusen's starting eleven." The guy on with Danny Kelly now just said pretty much the exact same thing. But, as we all know, if this was Bailey to any of the 'Sky Six' clubs, they'd be heralding him as the best thing since sliced bread...
  13. Trailing off a bit with musical comparisons here, but I'd take ELO over anything that's come out of Manchester... even if Jeff Lynne is a bluenose.
  14. Arsenal have lost Martinez https://gfycat.com/academicfearlessgallowaycow
  15. Fairly confident he'll sign a new deal with us. Wouldn't surprise me if a number of our 'big name' incomings this summer hinge on him staying too (like, they're verbally agreed with the caveat of Jack staying), hence why there's not been much action in the past few weeks.
  16. The Mark Harrison effect again, right here.
  17. Here's a write up about it which really sums up our lack of ambition at the time: The one who got away: Radamel Falcao and Aston Villa | The Transfer Tavern (footballtransfertavern.com) Hard bargaining isn't always a good idea.
  18. I remember when MON had the chance to buy FALCAO for only £5m, but told the club not to budge beyond £3m. We held firm, didn't buy Falcao, and used the money to purchase HESKEY instead...
  19. True. The madness of bureaucracy. It's not like 1-click shopping on Amazon or buying a player on FM. Bidding for a player seems simple, but every bid has to be run through legal and financial teams. Sometimes, in high profile situations (such as putting a multi-million pound deal together) they'll even use more than one legal firm to double-check things. Hence why we often see the term 'preparing a bid'. If my experience working alongside Legal teams has taught me anything, it's that everything takes a billion years to get even the most basic stuff done, mainly because of how pedantic they need to be.

Pit of Chimps - a surreal/absurd improvised comedy show parodying shows like TFI Friday, Big Breakfast, etc but set in an alternative universe where Luis Figo is a shady fetishist and Andy Townsend is the greatest footballer of all time. It's an absolute mixed bag of bizarre stuff, honestly. A bit like Vic Reeves Big Night Out, but in podcast form.
  21. I hope somebody is making a list of every 'journalist' spouting all this nonsense for fast-track inclusion to the VT Speculation Source Blacklist once Grealish signs a new deal next week.
  22. You've set the benchmark now. Anything less than 3rd will be deemed a failure As I say, we'll see how this all plays out and I'll take notes of any improvements/changes suggested as the season progresses. Then we'll reassess everything at the end and alter where necessary. There's possibly going to be some teething issues, but we'll definitely be proactive about making consensus-based changes every off season.
  23. Nope. Not the only one. Become a Legend is pretty fun, actually. Reminds me of an game on the PS1 called LiberoGrande. It's sad what's happening to PES. I don't think I'll be playing any more football games, aside from FM. I probably won't even bother with a PS5.
