  1. Eh.. It has put a dampener on it but he hasn't been approached yet. I will admire his resolve if we offer him the same contract we offered McLeish and he says no.
  2. Norwich are a club that probably only have a £500k to £1 million transfer budget which is why 90% of his transfers have been loans.. To say why didn't he buy one £1 million gem is the same reason no one asks why McLeish bought N'Zogbia instead of Messi.. Spending all or more of your transfer budget on one player no matter how epic they may be is a massive risk, Lambert played a more astute game and it got him from League 1 to Mid-Table Prem finish in 3 seasons.
  3. Looking at his transfers isn't a fair thing to do.. Last season he was in the Championship the season before that League 1.. You try getting in quality players from England and the rest of Europe with little to no budget and the obstacle of being in a league professionals don't want to play in.
  4. Maybe why he left. I mean some people just don't take to those in power saying what they can and can't do.
  5. Things could speed up if that's true. Villa were looking to have this wrapped up by Monday next week, could be done by tomorrow if there is no higher ups at Norwich standing in the way.
  6. No comment from him though on the fact that he or Randy were ultimately responsible for it I bet? I think it speaks for itself that they were responsible and him saying so would just be stating the obvious. They know they messed up which is why they are being so pro-active now, they have a lot of work to do to make sure this doesn't happen again. At least if they put in the leg work now and Lambert or whoever doesn't work out they at least cover themselves from blame something they didn't do with McLeish and Houllier.
  7. I think the only thing that will stop us getting Lambert other than him saying no is if Liverpool fire Dalglish. We are the biggest club currently looking for a manager which puts us in a great position.
  8. I think the only downside I can find with Lambert is that his standards may be lower. I don't mean that ambition wise, but in players. He may look at the likes of Warnock and compare them to players he's seen at Norwich in training and keep them on as they are "good" to him..
  9. Yes, he has shown in the past he leaves when he feels there isn't much more he can do. On the face of things he's taken Norwich as high as they can probably realistically go with their finances. If he stays on another year he's looking at a possible relegation on his CV which will do more harm than good in the long run. I do think he'll move on and join a bigger club, a club with funds to spend.
  10. Yes.. Seriously other than Given, Ireland and Bent I can't think of many others that truly deserve to stay. Maybe a few of the youngsters like Herd, Clark, Carruthers and Weimann but that's about it..
  11. I think Ireland and Bent especially Bent will be staying now. Firing McLeish will be seen by the more ambitious players as an ambitious move as it shows the club will not settle for mediocrity. I know that Ireland got on with McLeish most of the time, but providing the replacement plays him then Ireland will have no issues with him. All in all this is a good sign for the future, we will be keeping our most promising talent and replacing the deadwood so all is good (hopefully) for the club going forward.
  12. Every bit of speculation we heard during the McLeish era is now dead, the new manager will have his own targets and unless he was also targeting them they are no longer on Villa's radar.
  13. I'd laugh if Villa had paid Macron to act as a decoy to lower fan expectation all the while they will launch with an Adidas or an Umbro shirt. I know it's probably not the case, but to leave Macron out completely seems weird to me, I remember when we signed Genting and pretty much everything to do with the kit on the site mentioned Genting several times even if it wasn't necessary to do so.
  14. It's make or break for him I feel. He seemed to get on with McLeish so played some pretty good football for him given the players around him. If he doesn't get on with management he'll be off as he won't want another Houllier situation where he's benched for half a season and then loaned for the rest.
  15. Di Matteo is only doing well at Chelsea because he is managing Chelsea.. I know AVB struggled to do the same job, but he lost the dressing room. All Di Matteo has done is used his friendship which is not a managerial skill to unite the dressing room, the rest is doing itself as it is Chelsea one of the best teams in the league and one of the best in Europe. Managing a club like that shouldn't be hard provided the players like you..
  16. I have been out all day only just got in to see this news and I am delighted. I am not sure how I managed to miss a single word on it since leaving but hey what can I do. I really hope that whoever replaces him is good and plays compelling attractive football. I also hope that Lerner does not delay in getting them in, ideally I want them in by next Monday at the latest so they can start compiling a shopping list based around an ethos and discipline they want us to play.
  17. He'll get a job in the East managing some Arab side, that's if news of this hasn't spread to there he might be shit out of luck though.
  18. Haha yeah the rest of the web loads instantaneously VT on the other hand currently takes close to a minute if I'm lucky.
  19. If he's here next season I look forward to watching a stream of the match and seeing the only fans there being the away fans..
  20. And United never did? Exactly.. United have been buying the league for years. Sure they didn't do it as quickly as Man City did, but they have without a doubt used their superior millions to buy the league time after time after time.
  21. That was spectacular.. Congratulations Man City. I typically don't like you and that hasn't changed, but congratulations.
  22. I hope they show that in full on Match of the Day that sounds hilarious.
  23. Queue a Man City 5-1 win.. Await the Man Utd fans saying they were gifted the title. :winkold:
  24. I get the feeling the only meeting next week will be to sort out his compensation, he'll be sacked after the game by phone unless Lerner is in the stands.
  25. They boo every time he stands up, though they seem to time it when we don't have the ball so the players don't think it's aimed at them.
