  1. The management team that got Norwich from shit to good in 3 seasons and had them finish above us in the league? I think we are in good hands and that isn't blind faith that is using past history and the fact it's so much harder to get Norwich to where they are now than to get us into the top 10 again.
  2. "Pawns in a game" he said.. "Holding out for compensation" he said.. What I see is Norwich just paid the weekly salary of these guys for last 3 weeks and handed them to us on a plate for free, how lovely.
  3. I think we will see Makoun and El Ahmadi behind Ireland or Brahimi.
  4. It could also help N'Zogbia as he likes playing on the right wing and not the left. Brahimi judging by youtube was played on the left wing a lot so not only does Brahimi speak French so N'Zogbia will have a friend, but N'Zogbia may get to finally play where he wants. The issue last season is McLeish had his own way Gabby on the wing, N'Zogbia on the left when he wanted to be on the right, Ireland on the wing at times when he wanted to be in the middle.. It's not hard to keep players happy and provided they put in a shift where they want to be played then it works.. Managers need to listen to their players as much as they listen to their staff, McLeish didn't listen to the players.
  5. Lambert seems in no hurry he doesn't need them to make transfers and while he would possibly prefer to have them before pre-season starts he's clearly in no rush. If he was I am sure he'd have been on to Faulkner telling him to up the pressure on McNally or to start throwing compensation offers his way. I personally think Faulkner and Lambert are playing the waiting game, waiting for Hughton to ditch them as they are collecting dust right now they will be even more useless come pre-season when all they will be doing is getting in the way.
  6. Yeah going by her latest tweet she's getting lawyers involved one for Herd telling her to **** off and to some other guy who had apparently been pestering her to follow him when he'd apparently done no such thing. She's a mental one.
  7. Yep, Samir Carruthers and Daniel Johnson look like better prospects to me. I think this should be the season they break through. I'd have Ireland and Carruthers on a rotation.. I actually think a player with Carruthers dribbling and passing ability would be a massive threat playing where Ireland does in the hole. Carruthers when he came off the bench he caused so many issues for the defenders, stick him in a heavily attacking role with some good DM's behind him and he'll score goals and create goals every game.
  8. Those two are probably counting down the days like school kids waiting for the summer holidays to start.. I bet after all this they can't wait to be rid of McNally and that club.
  9. He's a guy that against Ajax took the ball in the middle of the pitch dinked past one and just like Ronaldinho would have done completed a rabona lofted pass that would have set the winger on towards goal had they not been offside. The guy is full of skill and possibly has the strength to make it in this league, if he makes it we may have a CM that is on the same wavelength as players like Ireland and Makoun.
  10. I think the guy could cope with the speed and physicality of the Premier League.. Yes he gets so much time on the ball at Feyenoord but he does look like he only takes that much longer because he can, a guy with his ability can do the same thing faster if he needs to.
  11. You have to also remember that if he gets us Champions League and then he leaves for say Man United we will have no issue replacing him as a Champions League side can get whoever they want typically. It very much seems that Lambert wants to get us into a position we can sustain when he moves on, he doesn't want to leave us in the shit like MON did.
  12. Depending how much he paid attention in school he probably speaks better English than some of our squad. The Dutch are very academic it wouldn't surprise me if he was fluent in several languages.
  13. What is it with MON and McGeady? Didn't he try and get him like every transfer window he had at our club?
  14. Not to mention we don't know how they are coming up with their rating.. Are they watching him for Feyenoord and saying "he's a 9/10 for them but in the Premier League that's equivalent to a 5/10" we just don't know how they work it out. I mean we know he's a pretty top player for Feyenoord but like everyone his success at Villa will depend solely on his time here, not on some arbitrary number.
  15. Defensive midfielder that creates space and passes forward with attacking intent rather than giving Given possession every 5 seconds.
  16. Fix the defence and we are in pretty good shape.. If Lambert can get some of the players playing well then were are set. Yes we would love Lambert to go in and buy 9 players but I think Lambert could get us firing with just 3-4 players in.
  17. I say we start Siegrist as our number one next season, he can't be any worse than Given has shown in the last three games.
  18. Lambert probably likes it.. I mean it's not like Faulkner is buying them behind his back just letting him know who the previous manager was interested in. For all we know McLeish was lining up some real gems, if Lambert can benefit from that then great.
  19. It's not PR from the club though he's making these decisions himself.. We saw that when he switched the dug outs, Lerner and Faulkner wouldn't have thought of that. Lambert just like he was at Norwich seems like he loves making the fans happy and we've seen that from him from day one, him coming to the kit launch is just part of what he does, he seems to genuinely enjoy meeting the fans and signing autographs..
  20. Well the players in the A-League sure look sharp Holy shit.. I wouldn't even consider myself a great player but I could play in that league and look world class going by that video. I play better than that with my mates two to three times a month..
  21. That away kit is excellent I'm buying that when it's available..
  22. I'm worried about Given now.. If he plays like this for Villa next season he'll be a liability. I don't blame him for the Torres goal to open the game but that's the second weak goal I have seen him let in, in two games. Has he let in anymore weak goals this tournament?
  23. If Paul Lambert can get each player playing as a unit and above their ability like he's shown in the past I see no reason why Makoun couldn't succeed at Villa. He struggled in his first half season as we were shit and he was trying to adapt to the speed of the league while trying not to mess up as we were in a relegation battle.. I can see why he flopped under that pressure
