well home or away 3 points is 3 points, we need to win 6 and draw 3 to get to 40 points. to add to your list of winnable home games i'd say these away games are winnable... Reading Stoke Norwich Wigan ..added to your list that's 10 winnable games, without even counting our prospects in the other 7 matches i think we can get 6 wins and a few draws out of that lot. i think we have chances to win some of the other ones though too, look at the liverpool result, why can't we do that again?
  2. i think it'll be a good month for us, we might even get 7 points from our next 3 games. 5 would be great though and be easily enough to pull us away from the bottom 3 a bit. longer term, i expect to reap the benefits of henke's appointment this month too so that the second half of the season will be much better than the first with more good young talent added to the squad giving us more strenght in depth so we can accomodate injuries better and helping the academy players out so all the weight isn't on their shoulders. i think we'll finish this season safe with a good few games to go and then we'll really see a paul lambert team emerge from next summer's business and pre-season.

before the swansea game i'd have given my right bollock for a point, gutted it wasn't 3 but woudl have been daylight robbery i suppose. yes we were pants shittingly poor for the first 15 mins, then we stopped inviting them to go 1 and 1 with guzan and started to get more of a grip. the weimann goal was an amazing assist and finish even if squarely against the run of play. second half though we gave a much better showing. give the lads a bit of a break, we have a massive injury list, and the first 15 mins or so against swansea was all about their fragile confidence levels after the drubbings. second half we got a good response (love to know what lambert said at half time) and hopefully the worst is now over. we'll start getting some players out of the treatment room and back on the pitch, along with a couple of good signings and we can get back on track with the rebuilding of our club. i still don't think we'll go down, but the wigan result was a tragedy.
  4. yup carruthers could give us something playing behind benteke and weimann, be good to see him get another run out, looked lively last time.
  5. yeah that line up could easily be 4-4-2 with some width from bennett and alby, otherwise can't see where stevens fits. herd at RB if that's the case and lowton in the middle i'd have thought. also agree with teh not conceding early point being crucial here, we desperately need to get a lead early ideally for some confidence. anyway be interesting to see how we line up and hopefully weimann and benteke click again today, if so we could get a couple of goals...
  6. the selling 50% thing happens a lot over here. i think he came through with juve which isn't a bad schooling to be fair but they cashed in seeing as he won't play for them at the mo. he's played alright for bologna in a league where defending is king (you won't see any crazy scores in serie a very often unlike the prem). the giovinco thing baffled me, he looked great when he first came through there, they were worried he was lightweight and for me they always played him out of position on the left. as for as joint ownership, if you are the selling club and the player plays well you are on to a winner in terms of the players value in terms of resale. if you want the player back though i've never understood why it's a good idea, as to buy back the other half costs you a shit load more after they've played first team footy and played well.
  7. N Baker - Hamstring - no return date NZogbia - Knee - 1st Jan (doubtful for next match) Gabby - Thigh Muscle Strain - 12th Jan D Bent - Hamstring - no return date R Vlaar - Calf/Shin Injury - 1st Jan (doubtful for next match) G Gardner - Cruciate - May 13th Dunne - Gilmores Groin - no return date
  8. yeah, i did say it was balls out! i'd like us to try a proper 3-4-3 though seeing as we've played a few games with 3 at the back.
  9. balls out... guzan clark vlaar baker albrighton westwood bannan nzogbia weimann benteke gabby
  10. flat back 4... guzan lowton vlaar clark bennett KEA albrighton westwood bannan nzogbia benteke
  11. Guzan Clark Vlaar Baker Lowton Westwood Bannan Bennett Holman Weimann Benteke with the formation as it stands i'd go like that i spose.
  12. get rid, i'd always hoped he'd turn into a a player for us but it's just not going to happen for him or us so let's just get him off the wage bill as soon as possible and use that money to pay for a couple of players who give a shit.

it's definitely not to do with the players not caring or not trying, they were really nervous and the early goal took the wind out of their sails for the first half an hour, then we played better, then the second and third goals coming so quick together killed us. had holman's shot gone in instead of hitting the bar we'd have probably been alright. confidence is understandably at a real low and losing to wigan was a tragedy for us after we'd seen some good progress, with a decent run including back to back away wins. our injury list really isn't helping either. we're going to have to start all over again and it's not going to be pretty. as for PL sticking to his guns about not signing experienced pros, i still think it's a good way to build a side but it's not going to yield instant results. i'd take it with a pinch of salt though because vlaar had a good level of experience when we bought him, just not in the premier league. we need more bodies in the squad from back to front and january will see us spending. let's hope henke has some good prospects lined up. i still think we'll have a better second half to the season than first, the next month or so is crucial though and we have to stop the rot asap.
  14. total bollocks. he's been brought in to do a rebuilding job, he's totally changed the playing staff and gone for youth and to try and do it the right way. if he'd have been concerned ONLY with the short term, i'm pretty sure he wouldn't have bought the players he's bought or brought so many of the academy lads through together. he'd have bought 2 or 3 players. played defensively on the counter with all the same old faces and played it safe. he'd have had more success at that than mcleish i reckon but who the **** wanted that? i'll take another couple of batterings from big clubs no problems as long as the LONG TERM interests of the club are being taken care of, and i have the patience to wait a coupel of years to see how this pans out.

excuse or not ( i say not but you make you're own mind up), it looks like aston villa football club have the mot injuries in the league at the moment... http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php?SKEY=47cac1518f6f7bc737f3c1fe4abe0553 ..coupled with a small squad i'd say that at the very least you could say that it doesn't exactly help in our fight against relegation. it also doesn't help in the competition for places, training and getting the squad to where PL wants to go is also affected. regardless, even with massive bad luck in terms of our bulging treatment room, we won't go down. it's turned out tougher than i'd have liked, but please give PL the time he needs to do this properly. this process could easily take a couple of years! chin up though, we might pick up a cup this year
  16. even after getting royally cuffed in the last two i have more faith in the current management and club direction than i have for a good while. we're going about a total rebuild in the right way (finally) and that shit takes time!
  17. ha, not checked in here for a while but congratulations VT, it's worse than i expected PL is great, he is the right man for the job, we've been spanked by 2 really good teams in the last 2 games. **** it though, beat wigan and we're 6 points clear of the relegation zone and the rebuilding work can continue. despite the last two results i think once the dust has settled and we've played 5 or 6 more games it'll be hard to argue we aren't progressing with our youngest ever prem team. UTV.

bald by any chance 8pints? would love 18 but i reckon it'll be closer to 10 points from the next 8. well that would be great too.
  19. it might well be vlaar, herd and clark though. i think part of our system is that herd does a lot of his work in front of the other two as a defensive midfielder. although clark has played in midfield so could be vlaar, clark and baker, with clark going in front and we benefit from how decent baker is playing left side.
  20. hmmm, 5 points between us and top half currently. 5/1 is long i reckon. when to bet though is question, if we lose to chelsea that'll lengthen unrealistically, if we win it'll come in a fair bit. as for my prediction, head says 12th-14th, heart says 8th-10th!
  21. Drogbear!!!! classic. anyway, anyone who doesn't know it's "like" a teddy bear is a **** bluenose. as for PL. smashing, isn't it? hmmmmmm. marvelous.
  22. that's such a good team! population of belgium? 10 million maybe? just incredible. oh and "He shanked it into the bottom corner with great power and unintended accuracy." AHAHA still we all knew benteke was the new bosko from the start right?
  23. habib beye on how to cash cheques and not get a splintered arse?
  24. ha, yeah not gonna happen now though, was really hoping for 120mins. what a **** ball from luiz though!
  25. that could well be that for leeds then. was hoping the piss down rain woudl help them get back in this...
