  1. back to back wins would be amazing, if PL can manage to get them playing less nercously than against reading we are more than capable of doing it. i am personally shitting bricks though so would understand if one or two of them were too
  2. http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php vlaar late fitness test and no bennett by the look of it. a little look at qpr's board sees them feeling quite confident about turning us over. depends if we suffer from an attack of the same nerves as in the reading game or not for me. if we play to our potential we should get something out of this game. if we shit it like with reading we will be lucky not to lose.
  3. back to normal for this one then after the reading match thread, lawro says we'll lose as do the bookies. an away point would be a good one and a win could see us get up to 14th in the table. i'll settle for a point though, there'll be a good atmosphere for them with dodgy old 'arry taking the reigns for te first time at home.
  4. nah parker no, we should have got him instead of sidwell but not now. he could have been having a look at liverpool rather than scouting anyone. otherwise who was he looking at? spurs have some good young talent but they aren't going to be letting them go and they'd all want big wages. same with liverpool's youngsters. i just can't see him looking for a short term old head, even though it wouldn't be too bad to get a couple imo as much as i love the academy graduates and young players we have it might make the transition a bit smoother and give the younger players someone to learn from...
  5. he also gave the ball away in a couple of crucial situations just as KEA did against arsenal and got battered for it on here. i'd like to see him playing though, i think KEA would be better sat in front of the defence working his bollocks off and have bannan and westwood and ireland to give the ball to. no width though i spose like that....

yeah we were poor in areas where against the big sides we've just played we were very strong, which just has to be pressure and nerves mixed with inexperience i'd say. fair to say we can expect another nervy display away at qpr but a point there and a point against stoke will mean 5 points from 3 games and if we keep tat ratio up we'll be more than fine. as for the "average schedule" comment above, we got 7 from a possible 15 from sunderland, man u, man city, arsenal and reading. maybe 3 poorer sides and two strong one's would be average, i think 7 from 15 in that run of games is pretty good to be fair.
  7. to be honest i don't think that's why you would be labelled a moaner, the 500 posts before that may contribute. they were nervous, the crowd was nervous, reading were nervous. we won. hopefully that will help with the nerves next time.
  8. tense and nervous is right. very very happy to see clark and baker as a pair come out with a clean sheet, we have to bear in mind as well that we were forced into subbing a natural left back for lichaj making do in that position too and we still came outof it with a clean sheet. we sre going to need to be more composed though, even older heads (ireland) were giving the ball away when we really needed to keep calm after going 1-0 up. let's hope southampton get a draw at best and then the psychological aspect of being in the bottom 3 isn't a factor after tonight.
  9. not lambert's fault tonight, the players shat it big time, not helped by small crowd and reading shitting bricks too. if we'd have played as we did against man u and arsenal we'd have battered them. as it was it showed how at this level the difference between 3 and no points can be purely mental and nothing to do with talent or hard work. hopefully the win can help us when we play QPR, it's all experience for the lads. we were massively under par and we won, which is a good sign, another few days of work now on the training ground and the PL project continues.
  10. no pressure! i think i prefer the match thread when people are saying that we'll get torn a new arsehole, all this comfortable victory business is tempting fate a bit too much i think. we're also bookies favourite and lawro said we'll win! plus it's on the telly! all spells doom for me unfortunately! so just to balance it up so the gods don't think we'r etaking this for granted... reading are going to tear us a new arsehole, we're shit and we're deffo going down after being hammered tonight.
  11. thats not exactly his game though, if he does pop up with some assists it'll be a through ball from deep. he's in there to keep the possession of the ball and to keep the ball moving primarily i'd say. he's more likely to be the man who picks out the player to make the assist (he hit a beautifull chipped diagonal pass from midfield to pick out gabby i think in the left hand corner of the box on sat for example).

yeah the point is doing both, you have to earn your right to play and unless you are maradonna you have to work hard in training and then leave your broken lungs on the field every saturday afternoon. we haven't seen enough of that for a coupel of years. if we have that as a minimum and talent in the squad then we will be absolutely fine. i'm not convinced we don't have the talent to be honest. what we don't have is proven talent. that is very expensive, especially in wages as we found out the hard way. seen harry's shopping list? all proven decent players, all the wrong side of 30. all expensive in terms of weekly wage, he's courting beckham ffs. quick fix maybe for qpr, long term a big loss financially. i for one am very glad we aren't going down that route, we have a man at the helm with a long term project who wants to create a team of young talented players who play together for a few years and mature as players, and more crucially as a cohesive team. with a decent return of points out of the next 3 games (5+ would be very decent) then hopefully we can forget all abotu certain people being sure we'd go down and wanting PL sacked and replaced with fucknapp.
  13. he is great at breaking up the play and getting the ball back. made 3 or 4 mistakes on the ball at really key moments in key areas of the pitch. apart from those mistakes though and especially before the booking he was good imo.

me neither, i always liked him, on the left or in the center he always did the simple stuff really really well. every team needs players like that, they can't all be spectacular ay.
  15. picked out some great passes today and did the simple stuff well. massive bargain, and hopefully will get better too
  16. prob berbatov given a managerial debut? or dempsey maybe?

very early days in his villa career to say that. i can remember people saying barry was a slow big arsed one-footed donkey early in his career. he's got a premier league winners medal now.
  18. yep he was very good today, as was westwood. KEA wasn't as bad as some are making out but gave it away uncharacteristically a few times in crucial places. after the yellow wasn't as effective. still though, bannan looked great and pulled the strings well.
  19. fit but not in the squad, fair enough if he's only trained a day or two really after a while out. ok, i agree with kea being a risk on a yellow but he's still been doing the pressing when we haven't got the ball. ireland would be the obvious choice i spose. would be a sign we are going for it. might be an idea to make 2/3 changes on the hour though so we have some fresh legs so they can **** off with the 5th in the table of 45mins, fading etc comments that come out every 5 mins...
  20. wow, he's made a couple of mistakes going forward but he's done a load of work getting the ball back for us, possibly more than ireland will. would be a positive sub though and KEA on a yellow is a bit scary...
  21. indeed koscielny fouled clark for the space to shoot, would have been a soft goal. KEA hasn't been that bad!!! dunno why he's getting so much flak, as much as i like weimann he's not at his best whilst wide left. we've looked the most likely to win it, we'll need to score a couple though i reckon...

as i remember it yeah, they won everything straight away i think, first two seasons two trebles, i mean anyone sensible would have sacked him if after the first couple of seasons he still hadn't managed to turn them around. right? " Following this and an early season run of six defeats and two draws in eight games, a banner declaring "Three years of excuses and it's still crap...ta-ra Fergie." was displayed at Old Trafford, and many journalists and supporters called for Ferguson to be sacked.[49][50] Ferguson later described December 1989 as "the darkest period [he had] ever suffered in the game", as United ended the decade just outside the relegation zone." right?
  23. tactically naive? i agree we've lost a lot but i don't hink it's been through being tactically naive, i wouldn't expect someone who did his coaching qualifications in germany after playing under hitzfeld to be all that naive to be honest. doesn't look like he's run otu of ideas to me, he's been trying plenty out and has prob played more diff systems with diff personel than AM did in a year. i think it's a bit odd you can't see what he's trying to do either, obviously that depends on the system and the opposition too but generally he's trying to get us to be more positive, hold the ball better, press high up the pitch with better movement on and off the ball. that's what i can see as changes in approach from last year in general terms anyway. when we play narrow it's resulted in higher possession for us and a bit less bite, more recently we've gone more direct (that's not to say long, just looking for a vertical through ball sooner) and tried to use benteke by getting him in one-on-one situations or running in behind. even though we only have 9 points i see plenty of positives in terms of approach. i'm sure we'll click soon.

yeah depends what redknapp, he completely screwed southampton up and arrived there in december, but he arrived at pompey in december and (with cash to splash that eventually ruined the club) turned them around very nicely. i don't know where qprs probs are in terms of who doesn't get along with who, but if it was problems with mark highes personally then there might be an instant harry effect. if not they'll still be **** untill harry can get some player in the january window.
