  1. I was with my dad too. Sadly no longer with us. Glad you had a similar experience.
  2. Two for me. Both fairly low key but memorable all the same. Ron’s first match away at Sheff Wed and away at Wimbledon (Selhurst) when Dalian scored that goal! Both brilliant away days.
  3. Cannot wait for him to come back. Having him as a bench option massively increases our potency when we are chasing games. Him down the middle with Ollie, Jack and Bert in behind will really cause tired defences lots of problems.
  4. I agree with this. I think Ross would cost too much in overall terms (fee, wages and depreciation) to be worthy of the investment. I would rather we spent the same amount on a 21 year old Ross Barkley. We seem to have much better judgment of players now and I would back us to uncover some real value in younger players.
  5. This guy has won us a good number of points already. He has made crucial saves, at key times several times so far. I can think of at least Sheff U, Wolves, Palace, Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool where with a lesser keeper we would almost certainly have gained fewer points. He is my signing of the last 10 years. Absolutely love him.
  6. I think against the very best teams, particularly away from home, we are better balanced with Jack, Ross and Trez behind Ollie. We can then use Bert and AEG from the bench as required. I thought we were a bit lucky against Chelsea despite a very committed performance from the team.
  7. You seriously think Hause is better than Mings? Crazy talk I tells ya!
  8. I would start him against Utd. I would bring him in and drop AEG to the bench. I know that’s pretty controversial but it’s horses for courses. We will be better balanced at Utd if we do.
  9. I think City have bigger issues elsewhere. Their money will go on a centre forward, a centre half and a 10 before they look at Dougie. The talk of signing him and then selling him on at a profit is fairly laughable. Why would Doug agree to that? He could just stay at Villa and then move directly to the other club if he wanted out. Makes no sense.
  10. We need to pray that England somehow fluke another decent run in the Euros this summer. A catastrophic failing could spell the end of Pinocchio. I bet the FA would be all over Dean if they were recruiting.
  11. I am going to give Mings a bit of credit here. Once he had been sent off he took forever to get off the pitch. Those precious few minutes enabled us to re-organise and ensure we got safely to half time without conceding. I’m sure it was purposeful and it’s the type of game management that we totally lacked last season. Thinking on his feet at a very emotional time. We are really growing up as a team.
  12. I don’t think you can appeal yellows. They would never overturn it anyway. They always back the refs.
  13. I totally agree with this. If we sign anybody it should be young up and coming players who can add squad competition with an eye to being starters in the next 12 to 18 months.
  14. Zaha and his over reaction to both fouls got him sent off in my view. Jack gets some (unfair) stick from opposing fans but he is nowhere near as inflammatory as Zaha. I was genuinely bemused by the first one. Ty did nothing wrong. The ref awarded us a free kick. There was then a melee. The ref rightly books Zaha but also Mings? The game was then restarted with a free kick to them?! Work that out if you can.
  15. I really thought that Jack’s best position was left forward but I think the last few games have proved that he is even better as a 10. He is just so creative and dangerous when he gets on the ball and the opposition just cannot deal with him. I suspect he will soon end up back at left forward m to make way for Ross. Good options to have though
  16. I’ve not looked at the stats but he does seem to give the ball away a lot. If he can improve upon that and keep doing all of the other good stuff then he will take some shifting from the team. His goal was lovely and he is such a top lad. I really want him to do well.
  17. Beautiful beautiful man. We have struggled for years in the gk department and then one comes along who just makes it all look so easy. Lovely jubbly
  18. I watched a YouTube clip of all his goals yesterday. I had to watch it about 5 times to take it all in. He has scored some absolutely wonderful goals. He is brilliant. I genuinely would not swap him for anybody else in World football. I said last season that he would be worth £150m one day. Whilst I think that day has come.
  19. Do you think Hause is better than Mings? I like big Courtney but Mings is twice the player in my view.
  20. He looks slightly injured to me. He is usually unbelievably agile for a big unit but the last few weeks he has struggled to turn at pace. I would always start him though if fit. He is our leader at the back.
  21. He is such a classy player. He just glides over the turf. Great today in his short time in the pitch
  22. Great performance. That was up there with Benteke when he was good.
  23. Please no. I have heard enough terrible puns already today!
  24. Ross Barkley is all action. Alli could not punch his way out of a paper bag. He also has an absolutely awful attitude. We will never sign someone like him whilst Dean is in charge.
  25. Mings is an absolute leader and a credit to our club. Our upwards trajectory started the day he first walked into B6. I love him. He is almost as important as jack to Villa.
