Against the Spurs commentators were saying during the game that he "actually never does anything wrong on the field". That's not 100% true of course, but I agreed with that. Compared to that, yesterday's showing was very poor. We never recovered from the poor start, and Jack never got going. Then he got frustrated and sort of gave up. -
You're right. The game went from "an encouraging good performance point from a good team" into "everything is against us, we'll never win anything any more". It would be tough for a mentally strong team, let alone a fragile Villa team that is on the brink of disaster every game.

I was really hoping that Soton defender would have tackeled Trez for a free-kick, but no. He just allowed Trez to shoot. Not fair.

What does he do on our midfield? What is he good at? Does he defend well? Does he pass ahead to his teammates well? Does he bring the ball up himself well? What is he?

Hides and puts his teammates under pressure with his horrible passes. He dislikes the ball so much - why is he playing football? Not a footballer is not far off.

I'm pretty sure 7-8 of our players would take this as end result given the choice. No life, no fight.

Stop passing the ball Jack. We're better off if you just keep it and do your thing.

We don't have a midfield able to keep the ball and push forward. Nakamba doesn't want the ball or know what to do with it, and Luiz is just a passenger. That's why even Drinkwater would be an improvement to this.
