  1. Just came on to post the Enrique thing. Apparently they tried to buy both Carroll and Enrique in Jan but Newcastle said no until summer.. tbf there would have been a riot if they sold both Enrique and Carrol in Jan.
  2. Is Vernon the one that calls in every week sounding like an absolute clueless attention seeking sensationalist opinions? If so, ignore it.. If not then It wouldn't be the worst appointment but nothing to be excited about. Fulham is about his level imo.
  3. Friedel - 8 - maybe 7 is a bit fairer but he commanded his area today and came out to collect a few crosses and corners, which im not used to from him, plus kept us ahead with a couple of good saves. Walker - 5 - made some very stupid mistakes today, decent coming forward but he just seemed to try to be too clever and gave them chances out of nowhere atleast 2 or 3 times. Very promising though, love him but in a bit of bad form the last week or two. Luckily, he knows this, sure he will sort it out. Collins - 7 - Solid at the back and a well taken goal. Didnt do anything spectacular but was solid at the back. Won everything in the air and gets an extra point for his goal and for not making a mistake for once. Completely stunned we were a threat from set pieces. Dunne - 6 - A bit slow but we're used to that. Was OK today, the individual performances at the back were all okay, but as a unit they were shaky, no communication, players running into each other and going for the same non-dangerous ball a couple of times too (this is the whole defence not just Dunne) Young - 6 - decent, maybe 6 is a bit harsh, he was decent gong forward, linked up well aand was decent at the back. Didnt do anything spectacular though. Petrov - 8 - Nothing spectacular, but was extremely solid, a very good performance today, tires after 60ish minutes but was fantastic for those 60 today. Makoun - 4 - I love Makoun, his passing is top notch. Today it was poor, very poor. Seemed to have a bit of an off day (i know others dont rate him but I think he has been ok so far). Didnt have a good game at all, glad houllier didnt whisk him straight off, get the feeling Makoun is a fragile character and runs on confidence imo. Young - 6 - Decent freekick, fully expected it to end up behind the North Stand. Whines and whines and whines and whines and whines and whines though. Absent in the first half, okay in the second. Wasn't the right game to play albrighton otherwise I would have suggested bringing him on. Downing - 7 - Great player, fully worth the money we paid for him. Ran the show along with Petrov for me today. Did brilliantly vs their leftback. Gabby - 6 - nothing bad nothing great, one chance springs to mind where he should have passed instead of shooting, where a throughball to Bent was definitely on the cards that would have left to a certain goal but he carried on running. Bent - 7 - not really receiving the service, so many times there were great chances for balls to him, from Makoun, Gabby, Petrov - the whole team infact. Cant really mark him down for not getting involved in the game as he wasnt bought for that.. He got involved a lot more than normal though, ran at the defence a bit and held up the ball well. Houllier - 8 - Right subs at the right time (I probably would have bought on Heskey instead of Pires, but we needed to keep the ball). Right formation. Still needs to sort out the defence. Didnt make any PR howlers, that im aware of. Ref - 2 - Abortion of game from his point of view. I hate it when we sing it... but the games I've been to this season, we really do seem to always get a shit ref. MOM: Petrov.
  4. You were in a different stadium to me. More scarves than expected seeing as it was hotter then The Canaries & Crete in Brum today. Quite a few in the trinity and the holte. The fans were very loud overall, the loudest theyve been at home all season imo. Not often you get that nowadays... yeah it was quiet for parts of the game but we were very tense
  5. Completely disagree with this. We need a link between the CM'ers and Bent. Playing Gab and Bent up top leaves a huge gap between them and the two sitting midfielders. I would rather see that player being Delph than Ash as I think this gives is more solidity in CM but allows Ash and DJ out wide more freedom to get forward and in and around Bent. A proper 4-5-1/4-3-3 for me please. do you not think it's a bit negative though, especially as newcastle are a poor/ average side? i think we need as many goalscorers on the pitch especially at home When its labelled 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 its negative. When its labelled 4-3-3 its very attacking. Depends which way the game goes. Can guarantee if we played Delph there instead of Ash and we won, guarantee the media would say something about Houllier stealing capello's 4-3-3 tactic. If we played Delph there and we lost, the media would say Houllier played a very negative 4-5-1.
  6. Gutierrez and Barton are fit. Looks as though Enrique is fit, not heard anything to do with Nile Ranger...but he would be backup anyway. Tiote, Nolan Suspended. Best Injured. Not their strongest squad but still capable
  7. I love that chant.. needs to get sung though!
  8. True, we'd probably be seeing McClaren talking about the need for 15 points to stay up! whys that then? sm won the league in holland with fc twenty & a cup..won a cup with boro..let me know if you can think of gh winning a double or a championship.
  9. True, we'd probably be seeing McClaren talking about the need for 15 points to stay up!
  10. You keep saying this but why exactly would they be more up for it than say Everton were? Because of that 'sunny afternoon' 2 years ago when we took great delight in sending them down after the return of the messiah. We indeed 'meet again' under slightly different circumstances and their fans want revenge. p.s. I hate Newcastle and despise Barton! They beat us 6-0 on their return to the top flight. If anyone should be getting revenge it's us. Which is why this should be a great game. Lets not get this mistaken. Newcastle are very much up for this, theres not much they'd want more than to be a massive reason for us going down especially after our 'Whose your next messiah?' banner, that really pissed them off. They will want revenge for **** up their last 18 months. And we obviously want revenge too...Just hope our local lads fight for us because one thing Newcastle do well is fight
  11. Fully expect a Newcastle retort to the famous 'Whose your next Messiah? Ant or Dec?' on Sunday.. probably some piss poor attempt to do with Andy Gray or Ozzy Osbourne Oh wait.. ....... So, for whatever banner they unfurl here's a quick (and equally poor attempt) at a new banner
  12. No, he signed a new contract last year and this was said the other day Sorry got it wrong, thought he'd signed a new two year contract extension the other day, or will be in the summer if the board give assurances. That said, it doesn't matter if Kenwright says no because he's contracted for another 12 months.
  13. If you ask me thats the type of manager that our players need, someone with a bit of fight and passion. Not some washed up old fool that can't motivate his team. Fran werent you one of the ones mostly moaning about Houllier saying 'we cant win' vs City? what has that got to doe with what i said here??, one decent win wow if the word removed an oscar eh. I have been moaning about the old rocket polisher from the time he was linked to this club whats your point??. I have no idea what your on about but I was referring to Warnock in the video telling his players they had already lost the game. But sorry I forgot you probably just saw another managers name and gave it a positive remark without actually watching it, thus meaning any attempt by me to get a discussion going pointless.
  14. Newcastle Players Out Nolan: Suspended Tiote: Suspended Enrique: Probably Injured. Ireland: Ineligible Best: Injured I think.. Newcastle Line-Up -------------------Harper------------------ Simpson---Williamson---Collo---Ferguson R.Taylor-----Barton----Guthrie----Gutierrez --------------Ameobi---Lovenkrands----- Players/Form Is how most of the Newcastle fans are expecting them to line up. Will be hard to beat I think, but Barton is normally out wide for them so will be a fair bit weeker in the middle of the park, which is where this game will be won or lost in my opinion. Barton and Guthrie is by no means their best midfield set up, where they usually rely on Nolan and Tiote (both out). Taylor has made a few mistakes lately according to my Toon mates (i dont watch their games), so he could be a bit edgy going into this game - he could also have something to prove. Lovenkrands was like their hero last season, all i heard was Lovenkrands this Lovenkrands that. Good in the Champ but aside from his goal on the weekend he hasn't done an awful lot for Newcastle, however Newcastle are very much a weird team this year. They've only won 2 games since Andy Carroll left but when they score, they score a fcking lot, aren't really a team to sit back (like us) when they go one or two up, we really cannot afford to go behind in this game. Having said that the two teams they've beaten have both been Midlands teams (SHA, Wolves). Very much Jekyll and Hyde, Lose 4-0 to Stoke then a week later win 4-1 at an in-form Wolves, and they've been doing this all season. How I'd like to see us play... I think Young and Downing should be our wingers in this game and go with a 4-4-2, possibly 4-3-3. If Enrique is out then we can really mix play up a bit because I can't see Ferguson being able to handle any of Young, Downing or Albrighton and it would allow us to attack both sides and be a bit more unpredictable. Going at Simpson and Ferguson with L.Young and Walker overlapping. If Enrique is in I'd switch Young to the Right and Downing on the Left and allow Enrique to try and take Young out of the game, he's going to get doubled up on anyway, so I'd prefer Enrique to Simpson to be the fullback having to spend his defensive game doubling up on Young, which will give Downing (who has been superior anyway) time down the left to attack Simpson who I dont think will be able to deal with it with the extra space for Gabby to run at (which in turn creates more space for) Bent to lie on Collocini and Williamson, waiting for one of them to go at Gabby/Downing/Young then exploit the space left in defence. Also Young is better defensively than Downing and will be able to help out Walker on the right when Enrique attacks. In an ideal world Enrique wont be playing, in which case Albrighton can be used as an impact sub but I dont think Albrighton+Walker or even Albrighton+Cuellar will be good enough on the right to deal with Enrique+Guti when they are attacking. 4-4-2, 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 *Please not 4-2-3-1 Considering the above I'd go with a 4-4-2 of Walker/Cuellar---Dunne---Clark---Young, cant decide whether I think Walker should play or not given their obvious attacking strength down their left hand side. Young---NRC---Makoun---Downing in midfield, but could be swayed with NRC---Petrov because I think both Makoun and Delph could be drawn into a battle with Barton in the middle of the field ending with either Makoun getting sent off or Delph getting in a fight. Bent and Gabby up front. 4-3-3 another option, aslong as Delph and Makoun manage to not get drawn in to Barton's scum thug football a NRC-Makoun-Delph midfield vs Barton+Guthrie would probably completely over run them and I think Midfield could be where this game is won and lost, with Young and Downing roaming behind Bent. As with Everton... If your ever going to beat Newcastle. It's with Nolan, Tiote, Best and [possibly] Enrique out (not Ireland who is a pile of wank) *Just realised how long this post is, Sorry*
  15. If you ask me thats the type of manager that our players need, someone with a bit of fight and passion. Not some washed up old fool that can't motivate his team. Fran werent you one of the ones mostly moaning about Houllier saying 'we cant win' vs City?
  16. Most of the fans I know are still behind him (and will be gutted when he leaves) and blame Kenwright over anyone for our problems. There are some who are against him but there is always some fans who he'll never win over - same with pretty much every manager though. Ah how cute, you have a manager whose doing it for the fans. Sorry AG but thats just the kind of nonsense that players, managers, chairmen, whoever just come out with these days, it means very little. Moyes is hardly allowed to say anything else, anything else would be seen as mutinous. FWIW I know its Kenwright to blame for your woes, well Kenwright and your own fans in campaigning against a new stadium. But a time must come when both Everton and Moyes come to the conclusion that they'd be better off apart. Moyes has taken your team as far as he can (probably anyone can) given his severe lack of resources. Your club is strapped for cash, with Moyes only signing a new deal last year he does actually have some value and your team may actually need some fresh ideas soon plus Moyes must know the writing is on the wall for that squad soon enough unless he gets some decent chunk of investment. Sometimes there could be a mutually beneficial thing going on. I don't know whether this is the time for Moyes to jump but never say nevr. Didnt he say this as he signed a two year contract? Either way Kenwright will just say 'no' if we ask to speak to him.
  17. Walker, Albrighton, Downing, Clark, Bent, NRC? 6
  18. I love you General. P.S. MBNA, can I be there when this happens, great to see.
  19. Right. Bed time for me, good luck to all the guys travelling down. Hope the atmosphere is as good as it sounds like it should be from the 'What can we do thread'.
  20. Everton seem to do best with their backs against the wall. The fact they always finish well even though they have an annual injury crisis in the tail end of the season shows this.
  21. Im having major problems in general... just cant log on using my Customer Reference number... ive called up apparently had two Reference numbers attached to my name/email ... got one of those removed and now it still doesnt work online.. but they easily process it over the phone. No idea whats going on. Maybe you have the same problem I did? Man Utd Away went down to 'Booking History' (not Away). And I'd been to three games this season. but it said i didnt have the right privilidges. When I called up they said I had accidentally gotten myself two Customer Reference numbers on that email - one with booking history, one without and it was the one without that could be logged in online.
  22. Im disgusted we are even talking about Boothroyd or Jewell. It was bad enough saying untested Lambert was a good option.
