He's a big fish in a little pond at Pescara, hopefully Lambert can scoop him up with his metaphorical transfer net

It should be easy to find a plaice in the defence for him this season

I guess Bannan is the first of the recent batch of academy kids who made it through to the first team to be offloaded and fail at the club really.

I don't live in Birmingham so may find it hard to follow some of the players around.

I've always been led to believe he's a CB. But Lambert putting Herd there (when he's usually a RB) and Donacien and RB has made me think differently. He was possibly just being tested there, maybe to see if he's good enough cover to Lowton, as to prevent Lambert having to buy cover.

He looked to be wincing and limping towards the end of the half. Him then being taken off and not sitting with the rest of the subs for the 2nd half would imply it was an injury, unfortunately.

So, Lamberts giving him quite a bit of game time this pre-season despite the fact that we have Clark, Baker, Vlaar, Okore and Herd who can all play CB. Lambert must see something, any one have much info on him?

Benteke will be back, unless he gets injured between now and the start of the season. He's never been out injured, just left out of Wycombe game as he's had less training than the rest of the squad and wasn't fit enough.

So Con, you're saying that every player that has ever scored 1 decent goal gets the tag of 'world class'. Well, Barnet just released Collins John from his contract after making only 1 appearance after they signed him from Mes Sarcheshma in the Iranian 2nd division. Idiots, I saw him score a nice goal today on Premier League's greatest goal. They obviously don't know a 'world class' player when they see one.

You been following the GFC story? Yeh, you can't get it away from it here, it's pretty much the biggest thing that's ever happened in Guernsey sport. It's a bit overhyped though in my opinion. It's quite a family orientated scene and most of the attendance seems to be made up of mothers, their kids and old women (most of the men are off watching proper football) and they don't quite understand how far down the league system we are. The league we entered at was of course the very bottom and so the standard was very poor, pretty much pub teams and so our young squad would turn over every team with ease and this created a lot of hype, winning every game 10-0 makes the locals think we're a premier league standard team. It has gathered quite a lot of media attention though and so it will be interesting to see if bigger clubs take notice and begin to scout Guernsey for players because theirs a few that could probably make a career in the football league. Never know though, one day I might have to make the difficult decision as to who I want to win the match, Villa or Guernsey.

I thought it was reported Helenius was just being rested?

Guzan Lowton Vlaar Okore Luna Sylla Westwood Bacuna Weimann Agbonlahor Benteke Either that or replace Bacuna with Helenius and have him pushed further up the pitch. Bacuna is apparently a box to box midfielder so I would choose him to be the link between attack and defence with Sylla and Westwood sitting back more. Depending on how he does in pre-season maybe even have Delph rather than Bacuna.

Exactly, it's been quiet so the papers are probably trying to scrape things together out of nothing just to put something out. I have never seen the guy so have no opinion on him, but judging from other peoples on here he doesn't sound like the kind of player Lambert would go for.

No reason why we can't aim for top 10, realistically we were only a handful of points off from it last season, it was quite close. And that was with us having lost points through easy to cut out mistakes.

I think he'll be played more centrally behind the striker, maybe instead of having Sylla/Delph in a midfield of 3 with Westwood Lambert may opt for a a 4-2-3-1 with Sylla/Delph partnering Westwood and Bacuna/Carruthers in the 3 with Weimann and Agbonlahor. I think that's where he's been playing in the pre season games and I think thats the formation Lambert has been using? If i'm wrong correct me but I feel him or Carruthers may be used in the position. Maybe not every game though unless they play exceptionally well.

I just watched the Carruthers/Burke/Drennan interview on AVTV and Burke mentioned he was disappointed that he couldn't play in it this season (I presume because of his age) but Drennan could still play in it. That suggests that we'll be in it again and I guess the players are the one's who would know about it. Would be silly if the winners didn't get the chance to defend their title in my opinion.
