Yeah I understand your point. You have made some good points tbf. 10 games in the championship are critical especially if we want to gain automatic promotion against the likes of Norwich, Brentford,Fulham,Bournemouth ect. We need to hit the ground running.

Valid points made. The question mark is the winning run last season. He struggled until Grealish came back into the side and throughout the run Grealish literally dragged us through to the play offs. Without Grealish next season, do you still think that he can get this club promoted again?

Smith didn’t build the team at Brentford

It’s evident that we all opposing views in terms of manager quality. FAO Smith In fans Out of curiosity.. what qualities have you seen from Dean Smith that gives you confidence moving forward? This is coming from a footballing perspective alone I.e tactics, game management, cohesion, playing style ect.

Not only does have a system but the players are working the socks off for him. This proves the theory of hard work and attitude over talent. We have talented players but they are not giving 100%.

Wouldn’t mind him. He is a very effective manager, all he would need is assistance in finding some good players around the lower leagues. We would have a system and he would be bloody good at it too. One thing that I’m unsure of is he promotion of youth players into the first team.

We just need to be effective regardless of the type of football we play.

Would Villa fans be proud of this top of grit football? I wouldn’t mind it if was effective.

Purslow for appointing Suso, he has a poor reputation with previous managers. Suso for recruiting poorly. DS for his decision making and inability to motivate the players.

On paper he should become a good manager due to his experience with top class coaches however that means nothing, far too many times we have seen a top class player become a poor manager. He is our appointment not DS, which may mean if he doesn’t take the Bristol job it’s because he will be considered for the manager role here. My qualm with JT is that he cannot detach himself from Chelsea. What happens if he leads us to the premier league and we play Chelsea?

Showing a lack of sympathy does not mean showing a lack of respect. DS has not fulfilled his objectives for the season which has been costly, Therefore he should lose his job. Simple.

I reckon Grealish is playing with an injury. His performance has been way below par since the restart.

He also has players to supply the ball to him we are missing that also.

I like Purslow, my only issue is that I think he does like the spotlight a little. He has helped rebuild the academy and from a commercial, financial perspective I think he is doing well. What he now needs to do is fill the most difficult position in modern football.

I think in terms of recruitment we need to sign players that are physical and aggressive because that’s we have lacked this season. The first appointment is important which will be the DOF and the he will have a hand in appointing a suitable manager for the squad. They won’t have much time for recruitment which is why we cannot have a wholesale of players.

Smith cannot keep his players motivated. I would like to see a manager who is either top tier in Europe that would be considered a coup or a British manager like a Dyche. There are plenty top quality players in the lower leagues that we are missing out on. I would like us to have a director who can identify those players . If you can keep your players motivated you will get a better production from them. I want Villa Park to be a nightmare for away teams. Our identity has always been about pace and power, when was the last time we have had that? im looking forward to the change. Honestly, after this season I really just want to see a more disciplined, organised team with pace and power offensively.

He has been poor but we know he has the ability to cut it at premier league level. Next season is a clean slate for him. Once we have a new manager they should give him the armband. It would be his 3rd season at the club and when fit he leads by example, his character has always been spoken highly of.

My predictions is that Smith will be gone by next weekend. Suso should be gone already but I’m assuming that we are looking for a replacement before sacking him.

Based on our previous years in the Championship I think many of us are aware that a complete rebuild will not be beneficial for this club. It is important that we keep our core Goalkeepers: Heaton, Steer, Nyland Defenders: Hause, Konsa, Engles, Guilbert, Targett. Midfielders: McGinn, Luiz , Hourinhane, Nakamba, Jota Forwards: Wesley & Samatta Add Ramsey, Barry and Chuckwuemeka to the squad And sign some quality wingers and striker and we’re good.

Karlan Grant would be a good signing. He can score at Championship and Premier league level

Purslow won’t leave he is a minority investor at the club. The project has failed pretty much. Purslow will need to come up with a new one.

Oh Suso has to go too and I’ve been vocal about him when he first joined. Smith to me shows that he is does not have what it takes to be a top level manager. He doesn’t act like he deserves to be in this league to me he is just happy to be in this situation.

The problem is that Smith does not have the players working for him and the club. If your players are not willing to run through brick walls for their manager then to me it means he has no control over the dressing room. This is why he has to go.

If we get relegated which is likely we deserve to. The manager and squad have come into this league with no bite, no aggression. The team is soft, mostly smiling after each match with gratitude.. Last season we had some aggressive players that lack quality but worked hard, Jedinak, Whelan. We never replaced those players and that is just the tip of the surface in terms of our poor recruitment. If we come back into this league I hope we are drilled defensively, aggressive on and off the ball and own a pest of a striker that defenders will hate. Despite the poor decision making from the referee,I still want smith to go. We need a manager that players will run through brick walls for and we need a manager that is not soft. In three weeks time, he will be gone and so will a few more players. Villa Fans hang on tight!
