  1. Crisis manager brought in to prevent further disastrous loses when we get relegated. I expect the clubs finances will look a lot more healthy with this chap in charge and we will be a more attractive potential purchase. I also expect us to be entrenched mid-table in the championship.
  2. It's difficult to know how low we will sink at this point. We need a massive recruitment drive this summer once the deadwood has been cleared. We need quality and quantity, and players who are appropriate for our new league, our new playing system and our new financial situation (whatever Randy decides upon). We then have to fashion a heavily modified squad with very few senior 'villa' pros into a functional team, capable of beating well established teams. Most new managers have a foundation of some kind to build on but ours is already crumbling and will be further depleted upon relegation. This rebuilding task could take years and almost certainly will take longer than the instant success the fans will demand. At this point I think we have to pick our manager and stick with him though the difficult rebuilding period. There is so little to build on and in such dark times I think we need a proven character known for building teams up. I feel for Remi and in different circumstances I do think he could be a great manager, but it is a truly massive task ahead and his CV is simply not long enough to give any evidence that he is the man for this job. I would be delivering a very large check to David Moyes at this point and telling him to get ready for the challenge of his life - literally rebuilding an entire squad from the ground up in his image. Because God help us if we leave this task up to the famed transfer committee and not a football manager.
  3. Must be hard to swallow for Randy that his investment will be worth less than he bought it for a decade ago with premier league broadcast revenue massively increasing in this time, all down to his chronic mismanagement. Is he likely to sell us now? I'm not investment expert but buy high, sell low seems like a poor strategy. Would anyone pay the 60million we cost Lerner in 2005 on the back of this season?
  4. We should make signings now for the championship. We effectively have a 6month long pre season to bed in new players. We need significant overhaul so why attempt that during the 6 weeks summer break!?
  5. If you think about the club has tended to flip flop under Lerner from resolutely following a long term plan as it increasingly damages the club (MoN's free reign, Lamberts slide into the abyss) followed by a period of mindless reactive decisions which inflict their own brand of damage (McLeash, Sherwood). I have a feeling Garde is the long-term variety.
  6. keeping an eye out for the Lambert style transition from 'Ex-footballer' to 'fat homeless person'.
  7. Unless he resigns there is no chance this will happen. He is the long term plan even if that includes relegation, I'm sure of it.
  8. 3-1 against the only other team in the league anywhere near as bad as us! Form suggests we are unlikely to win another game with this squad.
  9. Shocked. This squad won't win again. Remi garde is regretting his poor career move.
  10. Lescott stands off allows him to control and shoot. Guzan beaten near post. No words
  11. This is just testament to how shoddy our team performances and tactics are. We need individual wonder goals to score.
  12. Half our squad would have to be wiped out in a meteor strike before Kozak gets a game.
  13. Adama unleashed. At least there's a chance of something vaguely interesting happening now.
  14. One week was obviously enough time for Garde to expose the real CNZ, he couldn't even keep the pretense up for a couple of games. I will raise a glass when this guy is out of contract - it will soften the blow of being relegated.
  15. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/nov/30/premier-league-10-talking-points-weekend-action (see point 2) Guardian reporting Randy has spent a whopping £6 million net spend each year on average (presumably over the last 5 years). This buys you one half of a good player - is it a surprise our team has gotten worse each year?
  16. Full of errors and painfully slow on the attack. If we are breaking and Sanchez gets the ball the whole thing grinds to a halt as he takes several touches, looks around and often takes the safe backwards pass. He is so clearly suited to the South American / Spanish leagues. Hard to see what benefit he brings unless we are trying to defend a lead and need to stay tight (this never happens).
  17. Thank god he looked good last night, Garde can't ignore that. This guy will be our David Silva if he's given a chance.
  18. 5 minutes of good play. 85 minutes of dogshire. Over to you Remi.
  19. Didn't Laudrup get sacked from Swansea for cancelling training after a defeat to take a two day jolly to Paris? Not the kind of commitment we need from our manager at the moment. Would love an Arsene Wenger / Gary Monk workaholic type who will put the hours in until this mess is sorted out.
  20. I happen to be visiting friends in manchester this weekend so I will get the joy of watching villa get bummed by utd in a busy pub full of smug Mancs. Fate is cruel
  21. So slow news day, I'm on a train for the next 2 hours, anyone know when a player (preferably a centre back) would have to sign by to play Saturday is it 12:00 Friday? Realistically...last week.
