That's just dumb I never said clubs seek Champions League for the newness of it, Spurs have been in the Champions League many times before, so it's less of a novelty to them than us who have never been in it, it's current format, can gaurantee if we'd have been in the Champions League seven or eight times in previous seasons and were an established top six team, we would be much less bothered about missing out on top four than we would be if we missed out on top four this season

Also the examples of Manchester City, Bayern Munich don't make sense either, as my whole point was Spurs are desperate to win a trophy and have a better chance of that by being in the Europa League, Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich don't have to worry about because they winning trophies most seasons

This is exactly their logic. My brother's a Spurs fan. The novelty of playing in the CL has worn off. They have a much better chance of winning the EL anyway. They couldn't even do it under Poch. They need a trophy desperately.

Missing out on CL isn't such a big deal anymore. They're so loaded they'll likely not drop out of the top 8 in our lifetime. Denying Arsenal the title and finishing 5th is nothing to them.

Can we take a second to remember these quotes from esteemed pundit Jermaine Jenas in November after we beat spurs 2-1:

“No-one is looking at his team now and thinking 'this is Spurs', because they are so depleted - and I am still confident about their chances of making the top four when they get their players fit.

I certainly think they will finish above Villa, who I did not think were that impressive on Sunday - they played against a second-string Spurs side and only just got over the line“

Just beautiful

Lost me at Jermaine Jenas

They had a great chance of winning the league cup and sacked a trophy winning manager days before the final and no complaints from the fans

Its all a joke from the board to fans. Only management seems to care so are told to leave

Fans did care about the Jose sacking. Yes they wanted him gone, but a week before the cup final was a joke. They want a trophy no matter how it comes to them. They've become a laughing stock.

100%. He was correct to be so, but how he handled it was rather unprofessional.

How should he have handled it? Him and Spurs players had a top 4 chance not some plucky league 1 team

Did they really care though? Levy is to blame for all this and nothing happen

Signed multiple world class managers and gave them no tools. Spurs except for the stadium have absolutely flopped as a football team

Mourinho is far from world class anymore, and Conte was a prick. Ange is doing better than him, and isn't sitting back at home against Bournemouth and the like. He's also happy to work with younger players. They both had to go.

The problem with Levy was he signed Jose to win a trophy, then sacked him the week before the final. He should have been sacked way before, but at that point you might as well have him try to cook up something for the final, unless you had someone lined up which evidently they didn't.

Have they absolutely flopped? People forget what spurs were when Levy took over. They were similar in stature to us or Everton.

Since he took over they easily outperformed us and Everton on the pitch (and massively off the pitch financially) finishing multiple times in top  4 and getting to Champions league final.

By biting his lip and not expressing his personal opinion. Give the press the standard non answer.

by expressing his option, he’s pissed the fans off. Which could turn ugly for his career there

What? Ange is not doing better than Conte at least and both have a better win percentage than Ange. Conte and Mourinho will still get elite jobs. Conte dragged Spurs from 9th to Champions League and Mourinho got them to a final and has a better record vs Pepsi than Ryan Mason

If Ange gets sacked his next job be Bournemouth/Wolves level

The fans who turned on the team to cheer the opponent? Managers should protect the players

Would be fuming and also embarrassed if our fans cheered the opponent to lose so West Brom or Wolves won something

Yes football is a sport not a business. Fans dont care they got 6 million for Alan Hutton or they made a 13million profit for Luka Modric(another huge transfer failure from guru Levy)

Think they won 1 trophy more than us and Everton and financially dwarfed both teams incompetence

Honestly Levy is the best thing that happend to their football club for a long time. Before he took over in 2001 they were regularly finishing midtable around 10th.

He dragged them up to regualry finish in top 6 and even top 4 more recently. While getting a trophy and champions league final. All this when cash rich Man city and Chelsea made the competition much harder.

I would love it if we "absolutely flopped" like that in last 20 years.

Mourinho had them sliding to bottom half, they were proper awful at the end there. Conte threw his toys out the pram and was playing Steve Bruce football. Spurs fans have way more time for Ange. He also took them from 8th to 5th this year after losing Harry Kane, playing more exciting football and not ignoring younger players. Doesn't matter about win percentages, they can actually see a future with Ange and know that he won't down tools unless he can sign Ashley Young and Victor Moses.

1 trophy in 20 years while an alleged super owner. In that case the Leicester owner is some elite chairman

Levy didnt drag anything he interfered a lot and Spurs have massively underachieved considering the hype

Greatest player for Spurs  since Levy joined was pretty much about to be released until Tim Sherwood turned up.....Tim Sherwood ffs Levy is blessed

Totally disagree with you. Who knows what would have happen if they had different owner? They might have ended up like us, relegated, or Everton, on the brink of administration.

Yeah those fans. I’m not saying he shouldn’t be pissed off, I’m saying he shouldn’t have expressed it. Particularly with the press

Not true is it though, both Mourinho and Conte have better win records than Postecoglu. Spurs have pretty much scored a similar amount of goals in last 5 seasons so not sure the entertainment except have conceded more

Why not? They had a chance at top 4 and fans bailed on them

Loyalty goes both ways
