Get The Holte End Back

This is not another half hearted plea to 'bring atmosphere to B6' or another group being formed, its just merely a heart felt cry for the return of The Holte End, the Holte our fathers, grandfathers knew. Groups split people, divide fans, alienate themselves from certain sectors. This is just a simple ask to bring scarfs, balloons, streamers even toilet roll anything that's reminiscent of the old days, the 3rd Div days. The times when football was at its worse, Villa were rock bottom but when The Holte End was there, standing loud and proud across europe

The enjoyment for some of going the match has gone, understandably after the last few seasons. But you as a Villa like every single Villa fan worldwide want what's best for OUR club.

This is a simple, cheap way of uniting old with young, generations of Villa connecting with the new generations. The connection should never be lost stories of blokes turned upside down in the Holte forming V's, the Holte end sway, Left side,Right side are stories I've grew up with and longed that I was there. This is the main reason for this account ensuring the connection never gets lost.

We don't want to loose the true meaning of The Holte End Army!

Brigada have relocated to The Holte and have been trying to get some atmosphere going

Hopefully events on the pitch this season will be more conducive to people joining in with the singing etc

I was only in the standing Holte End for a few seasons before it became all-seater. Definitely a more vibrant place which is understandable. If people brought back the bog rolls, confetti and balloons they could launch them from the front of the upper tier.

The Brigada is a group, not everyone can get to them. This is a about bringing the 70s Holte back, dispelling the myth that shit football= shit atmosphere. The 3rd Division days sums this up perfectly. Visual, colourful Holte End we were proud of and everybody in the country knew about despite being down lower than ever.

I doubt you can recapture the same vibe that the old Holte terrace generated eg. 70s and 80s

22,000 people stood up on a terrace is a different proposition to 10,000 sat down

Still good football will bring some noise back I'm sure

Can you remember the visual displays of balloons, scarfs, flags, toilet roll etc? Before kick off everyone stands, its not about copying the old days more about bringing certain things back ie balloons, streamers...... The generation of Villa fans coming through now dont know The Holte End as it it was. we never had good football when we were rock bottom in the 3rd div (first season down)

the problem is back in the good ole days of throw bog roll and balloons etc, there wasnt some cock end in a bright orange coat coming over to you threatening the throw you out. thats the biggest problem with football atm. give a steward an orange coat and they think there hitler.

I'll bring some balloons/beach balls/toilet and my scarf of course next season for sure. Like the sound of throwing things from the front row of the upper holte, wonder if we have any people who sit there on VT?

Also maybe you can contact more groups like Brigada (not sure if there are any more out there someone find out) and be like bring some toilet rolls and balloons/ beach balls and just launch them into the crowd.

Not sure what else you can do to spread the word :P

Been a great response on twitter have a look at @brucerioch4 people getting behind it, bought back many memories for some. As for groups, i dont fell thats a route to go down because it should be a communal holte everyone of any age can bring balloons, scarfs etc

The atmosphere at VP has been shite for at least the last 10 years, IMO regardless of he tankard of football. I doubt we will ever get it back to the heady days of he 70's,80's.

Fixed. :(

The experience of going to a game needs to be fun, otherwise people just ain't going to bother, when they can stay at home with the playstation or high def tele. Nothing ruins a day/night out more than some Nazi telling you how to go about things.

And the all-seater bullshit is, as everyone knows, a disgrace.

The aim of this is to re connect the generations. Getting families talking bout experiences memories. If you read stories of the 70s now you will hear a lot from blokes who was 9 tellin how amazing it was on The Holte somehow that needs to come round a gain the next generation of 9 year olds need to see what the Holte is really about so they can pass on stories to there grandkids. The Holte End sway, The gap, Left side/Right side, upside down legs forming V's all may be no more but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be passed on through generations of Villans. Younger kids now only dream bout being there Bournemouth '72, United '71. Bring back little reminders and it will grow and grow once more.

The problem that you cannot overcome is the fact that the Holte End is now all seater. I was a season ticket holder on the old Holte End for years, even remained a season ticket holder when it became all seater (thats not the point I'm trying to make). What you found when it was a terrace was that people had freedom of choice to stand where they wanted (I was usually found on the left side near the gap 2/3 of the way up - just enough to be under cover if it rained) and if a particular group was making noise that you wanted to join in with you just made your way there, no excuse me, can I just squeeze past bollocks while people tutted at you and looked at you like you were a piece of shit. You just made your way there squeezed in where you could and sang your heart out, discoed and even pushed people to begin a sway. Nowadays you have your seat for the entire season and if you don't like the people you are near then tough shit you have to rough it out.

Also the atmosphere generated before a game was better because if you wanted to be in the best spot you had to be there early to make sure you got it. Now as your seat is always there, in the same spot, never moving people tend to turn up 5 mins before kick off without having to worry about making sure they are in the best place.

Also while I'm on a roll - another thing - The Trinity and Witton Lane used to be where the older people chose to sit as the younger ones with less money and more enthusiasm used to be quite loud, aggresive and full of teenage angst and the football was a place to relieve a lot of this. Now a seat is a seat so the older generation who used to stand on the Holte now sit on the Holte. It's like the progression from the front of the Holte to the middle of the Holte, to the back of the Holte to the Trinity Road has stopped.

I could go on for ages about this subject but I've probably said enough.

Once upon a time I loved the Holte End now I only acknowledge its there.

So you wouldn't welcome aspects of The Holte from years gone by back? If one or two areas re invent the 70's would it not catch on? Genuinely interested to hear people views. Standing shouldn't affect pre match displays etc

The response on twitter, have to say has been received well especially from the older generation. Too hear peoples opinions is why I'm on here

I'd love to see the Holte End back to how it once was - but the cold, hard, bare facts are it will never happen. Its almost been like a case of divide and conquer - people all over the Holte who want to sing and make noise but are in small groups whereas years ago those small groups came together and made one large group - together we are strong.

Also I've got to say the repertoire of songs on the Holte End nowadays are absolutely shite - where has the imagination gone? go to any ground now and basically its the same songs but with their particular teams name inserted.

All the best in what you're trying sasa and I hope it works but I just doubt it will. Sorry for the pessimism.

One final note - don't look back at how it was look forward to how it can be - remember dinosaurs died out because they refused to adapt!
