Actually it was the defender who headed the ball back, not either attacker, but the dark-haired Bayern player was closest and affecting play the most when the long ball was knocked down. Ah ok, fair enough then. If the officials 1) flagged too early and 2) blew the whistle too early and 3) got the offside wrong anyway then it’s fair that questions should be asked. It's absolutely nuts to me that you can make effectively a decoy run to pull a defender out of position from an offside position and the rule says that you're not offside.
