BOF Posted September 12, 2023 Author Moderator Posted September 12, 2023 It might only be Premier League Cup, but at least we've a sodding game this Friday. At Brighton 7pm. 1
OutByEaster? Posted September 15, 2023 Moderator Posted September 15, 2023 We could really do with a midfielder that's got a bit of size and power in there - it's the big weakness in this season's squad.
I Make Pies Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 We could also do with an out and out striker. 1

Yep - it's a 4-2-4 without a centre forward and with Barnes and Tiny Ted Rowe as the pivot - both of those can play a bit, but we could really do with someone who has the strength to act as more of a shield defensively. Our centrebacks aren't the reason we're conceding a lot of goals and if the aim was winning rather than development, I'd probably be looking to play Smith or Feeney in midfield. it was noticeable that we had to move Feeney into midfield in pre-season when we played an adult Rushall Olympic side, simply because they were running through us. 1
mikeyp102 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Was it Aaron O’Reilly who was talked up by SG? Have others “outgrown” him both physically and metaphorically?

Is Jimoh that kind of player or is he more attack minded?
MWARLEY2 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Bit of a tight first half. Loads of tactics and not much else. Cannot get Patterson or Kellyman into the game v much . O'Reilly has been the brightest of our lot so far.

OutByEaster? Posted September 15, 2023 Moderator Posted September 15, 2023 Great to see Ealing on the scoresheet, he's a proper grafter who doesn't get much in terms of glory moments. Good to see Kerr Smith score too - he's a very decent centre half. This is our best performance of the season so far.

OutByEaster? Posted September 15, 2023 Moderator Posted September 15, 2023 2-1 great finish to be fair to him.
OutByEaster? Posted September 15, 2023 Moderator Posted September 15, 2023 Eight added minutes. We've been defending heroically - hope they can see this one out.
OutByEaster? Posted September 15, 2023 Moderator Posted September 15, 2023 Balls. 95th minute equaliser - it'd been coming for 15 minutes in fairness, but our lads have worked so hard it's a real shame.
I Make Pies Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Shame we couldn't hold on but a good performance regardless. Highlight of the game was the Brighton commentator crediting our academy for producing Gareth Barry. We signed him from the Brighton academy aged 16!
