useless
He's first year scholar midfielder, was captain of U16s last season, we signed him and his younger brother from West Brom. Not seen him play though, I think he might have had injury issues this season, otherwise I'm guessing would have played more for the U18s. 1

Popular Post Unused Sub
Got my money’s worth last night. 10 goals, 1 disallowed, chances & some super saves. Boths teams won’t be happy with some of the goals; Lutz’s first came from robbing the centre-half on the half-way line and running clear and finishing well in the bottom corner. Alvechurch’s second looked like it went straight through Zych. Alvechurch started the brightest, but once we scored (with a rocket) we were well in the game and had some good spells. But in saying that, Zych tipped a scorcher onto the bar. After good work by Afoka, Pierre missed an open goal that would have made it 3-0. Alvechurch’s first came from virtually the last kick of the first half, direct from a (debatable) free-kick. 2-1 HT. Second half was just madness. We looked a bit ragged at times, but both teams were going for it. I thought we were going to win, then it lose, then win, then lose, Zych pulled one out of the bag so we were on for win again, though we were done for but for a lineman’s flag to chalk off a Alvechurch goal, Lutz and Pierre had efforts on goal that could of put us through, then we down and out, but somehow it ended a draw. Madness. So onto pens. Munroe, Afoka & Lindley all scored with really well taken pens. Zych got a hand to a few. Note that Alvechurch changed goalies for the shootout. Overall, played quite well and unlucky not to be in the next round. Afoka was busy as usual, Lutz did well as centre-forward despite getting bumped about a bit. 2 good finishes and mopping up a rebound for his third. O'Reilly looked good a the back, defended well, calm on the ball. Blotted his copybook with a sinical foul on the halfway line in the second half. Probably why he was taken off late on. A word on Barnes; not seen him before. Unfortunately a clash of heads ended his night prematurely after roughly 20 minutes. Walked off a bit gingerly. Team: Zych, Ealing, Munroe, Smith, A. O'Reilly (sub: McDowell), Lindley, Pierre, Alcock (sub: Simpson); Lutz, Barnes (sub: Mitchell), Afoka. Unused sub: Pavey. Note: Didn’t notice any No. 13 on teamsheet but Wright was there warming up with the team pre-match. Goals: Munroe 9mins, Lutz 18,56,90+mins, Mitchell 78mins The shootout, for the record: 1-0 Munroe 1-0 Abby (saved onto post) 2-0 Smith 2-1 Waldron 3-1 Afoka 3-2 Soule 3-2 Lutz (saved) 3-3 Clayton-Phillips 4-3 Lindley 4-4 Neto-Teixeira 4-4 Mitchell (saved) 4-4 Jones (Panenka missed) 4-4 Simpson (landed in the carpark) 4-5 Burton 1
OutByEaster? Posted March 15, 2023 Moderator Share Posted March 15, 2023 @Unused Sub what did you make of the controversial penalty of Alvechurch's? Lots of people saying it didn't cross the line but that the watching Alvechurch keeper persuaded the ref it had.

Lots of people saying it didn't cross the line but that the watching Alvechurch keeper persuaded the ref it had. I was stood by the half way line with an elevation of about a foot. We had the previous penalty saved and my first instinct was that it hadn’t been a costly miss as the ball had bounced out (admittedly with my claret and blue tinted glasses). It was one of those ones where the ball concertinas the bar and goal line. In all honesty there wasn’t much in it all either way. From my view I would say the ball was more in than out. Whether the whole of the ball was over is debatable. I would say possibly not. Note, possibly not probably if that makes sense! I didn’t think the ref would give it. The ref didn’t signal anything, it was the lineman’s call. He walked up to ref with their gk in his ear. It took quite a while to give it. Suggests it wasn’t given on a gut reaction. Following this, their gk then threw the ball over the head of our next taker. There was no doubt that their gk was a clearing in the woods. The real test is that in my nerdiness (don’t judge me) I quickly note the takers shirt number as he walks to the spot and it put a squiggle next to his number if he misses. I squiggled.
