Liverpool vs Real Madrid (ticketing "allocation"........"problems") - to put it nicely

But the point isn’t about getting less prize money, it’s about having a full allocation of fans (both sets of supporters).

To go off on that tangent is bizarre - of course a football club isn’t going to say “nah you’re alright UEFA, keep that money”.  If anything that would just make the situation worse!

But they won't have a full allocation of fans because UEFA have effectively sold those tickets to the executives of Sony, mastercard, Nissan et Al as well as their rich mates as part of their corporate gang

Its part of what makes the CL such a lucrative competition

Liverpool want that money but they don't want the payers of that money to attend the final, that's not how UEFA work, that's not how any competition on football works

Genuine question because I don't know the answer - have SoS had a moan to the FA about the FA cup final because that will be exactly the same, I think percentage wise it might actually be worse

More allocation to fans = less corporate seats taken by sponsors etc = less prize money available. I’ve probably missed a step or two but that’s the point villa4europe is making.

No

But yes when the same clubs, managers and player then shamelessly take the money from those sponsors

If klopp doesn't want Sony executives and pals to get tickets to the final then don't take the £80m prize money

it must be frustrating when so few tickets go to the clubs. we'd be raging too, just like we were about the 25k allocation for the FA cup final.

would sony, heineken, etc really take their proverbial balls and go home if they got a few less tickets for the final? course they wouldn't...and if they did, they'd be another sponsor ready  to come in and take their place.

love em or hate em, maybe it does need a whingy big club like liverpool to kick up a stink for something to be done. if it was villareal in the final, no one would give a ****

Nearly all finals have been like this since the 1970s  - its highly unlikely to change now with football itself a multi million pound business - Klopp isn't daft he know that - he was probably told to say it by his PR agent.

At least it's not as much of a farce as the conference league final. Just in case people were mistaking it for a serious tournament, UEFA decided to let Albania host the final, in some stadium with 21k capacity. About 3k tickets each for Roma and Feyenoord.

It’s been like this for years, especially since everything was revamped for TV and corporate.

FA Cup Final is no different.

You get well over 5,000  extra allocation per team for the league cup final as they don't have the allocate the FA 'family' members- who then sell on the tickets anyway.
