NIVillan
Former Villa Manager Billy McNeill passed away aged 79. Came to us early in the 86-87 Season from Man City, replacing Graham Turner, and was basically a disaster. Has the distinction of that season managing both Man City and Villa with both being relegated. The only good thing I can remember about him was an interview together with Ellis in the Brum Mail where he took critisised the breaking up and selling of the European Cup Winning team so quickly.
DaveAV1
Not one of our better managerial appointments that’s for sure. Nevertheless he was a football man, achieved a lot as a player and as such his passing should be viewed with respect. He was certainly right about the breakup of the European Cup team. RIP Billy.

The Fun Factory
Less said about his time at Villa the better but a true legend of the game. I would say it is highly unlikely that Celtic can ever win the European Cup again. Furthermore it will be impossible in this global age that any club team will win it with all but one of the team being born within 10 miles of the home ground. briny_ear
Quite rightly the media coverage has been in terms of Celtic Legend, first Brit to lift the European Cup as captain. His time in management in England has been less discussed and that is how it should remain. RIP Billy, Celtic Legend. meregreen
Not a happy time for him in England. But he will always be a legend north of the border. RIP Billy.
