  1. Really? £20 mil is the minimum required to just stand still in this league. I think this is absolutely right. The point is though that Lambert's spent £20m two seasons running and we're going backwards not standing still.
  2. I think you'll find a lot of that's already in place!

  4. Not according to our oh so wise manager - apparently Gabby was one of the plus points!
  5. The clubs PR department aren't that clever. Remember this is the PR department that put Joe Bennett up for a Q&A session on Twitter!
  6. I'll get shot-down in flames for this but I think the most sensible thing to do to take us to the next level and to compete in the big league is to form a single team in Birmingham and take over the scum. It would take 1-2 generations but in the longer term it would unit the city and give us regular crowds of 55,000 and for big games into the 70,000s. The team name would be a merger of the two clubs; Aston Villa from our side and FC from BCFC giving us Aston Villa FC!
  7. like Benteke and Kozak? No, like Bowery and Helenius. They cost about £2m combined. Indeed and are they any better than Fonz - just money thrown away.
  8. like Benteke and Kozak? No, like Bowery and Helenius.
  9. Image what Lambo could do with all that money: Another 15 left backs who can't defend Another 25 strikers who can't score Another 5 midfielders playing out of position ......
  10. And the word on the curb is that leaking team formations/line-ups is one of the reasons for one of them being suspended. Makes sense to be honest. Seems its this - However, its just a team line up? I would think majority of premier league scouts would be on top of this. If, for example, tactics were being released before the match that i could understand. That would assume that we have any tactics which from what I've seen clearly isn't the case!
  11. Dear Paul - you have £40m to spend; do you: a) Buy 2-3 top quality players? Buy 15 championship quality player that you loan out or put on the bench?
  12. Ha! Did he say that? Brilliant. "Aston Villa have lost three successive games in the Premier League and could equal their worst run of defeats in the competition under Paul Lambert (four games in Dec 2013)." Congratulations Lamberk another record following our 2 leg loss to a 2nd division side. Come back McLeish all is forgiven.
  13. Totally agree with this. This is the manager that last season master minded our defeat over 2 legs to a 2nd division team and in our last 2 matches has plotted the home and away defeats to Fulham and Crystal Palace - impressive!
  14. How about a swap involving Bent to Wet Spam and Morrison to us?
  15. Sadly I think the tide has turned for Lambert. I've been a doubter, then a convert and now a doubter. I recognise that finances have been tight and we've been shopping in Poundland but regardless, he's presided over some of the worst performances I've seen from a Villa team (e.g. Bradford over 2 legs, Crystal Palace today) and these aren't one offs. We;ve scored six YES, SIX goals at home this season and one of those games we scored 3 in! I'm sorry, but he's got to go.
  16. He was indeed one of our better players last season but the point that's being made is that he is poor defensively. I agree that he is poor defensively and thought he was last season (although better than Bennett). This season he's been shown up for what is i.e. poor positionally and poor in the tackle. He was however, excellent at times going forward.
  17. I just don't see that Lowton is the better RB. All too often he's found watching the ball or being out of position. On a number of occasions he's also been guilty of weak challenges at critical time - the latest example being the Paulinho goal in mid week. Baccuna is strong in the challenge, doesn't ball watch and looks the far superior RB in my opinion.

A much better manager eh? Incidently he was my first choice in the Mcleish summer. My dad absolutely raves about him. And for the last 6 months I have wondered why? Wigan have shown no improvement since he has been there. I don't think Martinez is an amazing manager (although I do rate him). Wigan are a small club and it's a miracle that they're still in this division really. They may not improve but he's keeping them in the Premier League every season which is an achievement in itself. Under Lambert we've regressed, which is saying something after last season. strachan did the same for Coventry, would you have had him at the time? Lambert is the right man for us, still. Why? He's turned a poor team into an awful one. Presided over the Chelsea debacle & been out thought by Bradford over two legs. His advice to Clark is to listen to Alan Hansen (pity he didn't think to mention it himself!) and has bought with the exception of Benteke & arguably Lowton players that are worse than the ones we had - Bennet's an insult to our intelligence. A premiership defender!!!!!
  19. You're right, hind-sight is a great thing but there's no disputing that Lamberk has the ability to turn a game with his substitutions - unerringly in favour of the opposition. I predict that he's the manager that will take us down and be the VP equivalent of Coyle. He's already presided over our worst ever league defeat (Chelsea) and the humiliation of Bradford (our worst ever cup defeat). I'll move away from hind-sight and give you a prediction.......... after getting into a great position to get a draw at Arse and being undone by yet another inept substitution his mumbling comments will be "we pick ourselves up and go again!" clearing in the woods

    Joe Bennett

Thought Bennett made his most positive contribution to the team today.

I can't. Lamberk had a limited amount of money available as we all know. We've had a defence that's been leaking goals for a few seasons. What we needed to do was get some solidity and experience into the defence & stop shippng goals - instead we've wasted money on buying someone who can't defend and as you rightly point out is way of PL standard.
  22. Dear Paul, When you're thinking about a substitution, don't! FFS you're tactically inept & don't know what you're doing! Also, why the F*** do you keep playing Bennet who should be stacking shelves in Asda not playing football?
  23. Lamberk as a pundit. From what I see, nobody could understand what he's mumbling & if they could it would be tactically inept.
