    This should probably be in the Carroll thread... but.. why don't you think he'd go for £15m? Liverpool wont get anywhere near what they paid for him. I could see them accepting a bid of £15m (plus a few add-ons after appearances/ goals etc). I think Rodgers would just prefer a decent sum of money to build HIS Liverpool.

    We've barely played with wingers this pre-season, and when N'Zogbia has played, he's usually cut inside to play behind Bent. If we bought Adam Johnson, I don't know whether we'd be changing to a different tactic to the ones used in pre-season, or whether he'd be expected to play differently to his normal game.

    I'm sure we'll be in for some other decent players BJ10, just maybe we'll be giving players with Prem experience a miss. Simply because of the inflated price-tag that comes with them. I still believe that we have money to spend, but I think we need to make sure the wages are kept down, so we'll make sure players are off the wage bill before we bring in more. Would you prefer Fletcher for £13m or Carroll for £15m?

    Right, so now we know it's not specifically a foreigner, and it's someone that a certain someone would be excited about us buying. Hmm... Who has this certain someone played alongside? Carroll at NUFC? I think so. Man City players? Hmm... I think Santa Cruz is the only one remaining from SI, I mean, a certain someone's time there. Unless... we're going for Robinho?!

    When I saw him play for Burnley, I did think he was a decent player. Good with the ball at his feet and he appeared to read the game well. BUT! It's still a lot of money. It's always going to take a high offer to get him when Wolves have just paid a decent sum for him in the past few years. Much like when we had to pay Sunderland £20m+ to get Bent. I do think we could get a better striker for less (part of me would actually prefer Carroll for an extra few million on top) but if Lambert goes for him then I'll support the transfer. Also, it'll surely mean that we do have funds available!

    Well I'm 5'10-5'11 and thin and the small fits me perfectly. I'd get that if I were you. I tried my mate's on and it was quite baggy, hmm, I might try one on in the shop and see what I think then.

    I have no boobs though! I have the white, away acorns top in a kids size. It fits nicely but has a noticeably smaller badge. I may bite my tongue and, in disguise, have a look at a ladies top If you see a guy in a villa store with a top hat and a pair of comedy glasses with a fake nose attached..... It's not Me :!:

    I like the look of Carruthers, but Albrighton has had more than enough chances and still hasn't took them. He did 2 seasons ago. It was only last season when he, and all our players, were told to concentrate more on defending. If Lambert can get him to rediscover his form of 2 seasons ago, he'd be a good option (and a much better option than Danny flipping Rose!!)

    I don't know if I'll be getting any of the Macron tops. Not because I don't like them, because I do, but because I'm thin and the small adult top is super baggy on me. I don't fancy going to the villa in a nighty, but I also don't fancy buying a kids one. I wouldn't say I'm small either. I'm 5'9 (I'm guessing), but I'm just thin.

    fletcher isnt exactly old In a footballing career he isn't young. He's far away from being 19/20 (which, I'm guessing, was the age of Jones/ Smalling when they went to Man U). Do we think Andy Carroll would be worth £35m when he's 25, if all he has to his name is potential and a few seasons of scoring around 10 goals?

    Part of me thinks £13m is way, wayyyyy too much for a player that hasn't really shone in the Premier League (irrespective of what team he played for), but then the other side makes me think about players like Chris Smalling and Phil Jones who played for averages sides, and have been snapped up for large fees. I suppose the main difference is that the latter two have age on their side, and can become much better players in time.

    Mark, Houllier's comments at a press conference were on AVTV. If you have access then go have a look. The online reports and BBC link would have been released the moment the OS said 'Villa sign Makoun', the press conference on AVTV would have been a day or so later. You may not have heard, but online reports are not always 100% accurate :winkold:
