  1. You'd love an Arison. You'll have to make do with an Adams.
  2. Quite like the links so far but it will be a job to attract players here.
  3. I agree. We shouldn't not sign a good player just because he came from a relegated team. Also, it's going to be very difficult for us to attract players from promoted teams or established mid table teams. I don't think we've got the big-club pull factor that we had in the MON era. It depends hugely on where in the team Sherwood wants to change things and how many new players he thinks we need.
  4. Certainly sounds like Sherwood wants big numbers of people out and in
  5. Got it wrong for me today. But looking forward to the summer window and seeing Sherwood's team next season.
  6. Big moment now in the club's history.
  7. I think we can improve in all aspects of the team. The only position we'd really struggle to do better is Benteke. I'm more than willing to give Sherwood a chance given he's fulfilled his mission so far. I don't really mind what type of players he goes for. I suppose now is as good a time as any to completely overhaul the squad with wholesale changes. Provided we don't take too many unnecessary risks.
  8. I was so confident until all our big players had such poor games yesterday and last week. Will need a one in a million performance to win. Guzan Bacuna Vlaar Okore Richardson Cleverley Westwood Delph Grealish N'Zogbia Benteke
  9. I'll always love him for how he got us over the line in previous games, but Tim got it badly wrong today for me. I can only hope he has the genius needed for Saturday. Whatever happens next week the club can ill afford a bad summer window.
  10. The one and only season in my time of going down (since 93) that I did honestly believe we were going down. Tim deserves major credit for getting us out of it. The highs for me league-wise have to be the last minute winner against West Brom and the Cleverley third goal against Everton... The two moments of our season which I genuinely feel prevented us from going down. The West Brom and Liverpool cup games were special memories. Lows were the laughable situation the club was in for so long, particularly after Keane walked out on us and then Fox's false narrative interview defending Lambert just before the Hull away game. Also these last two games has left a bitter taste to finish where we have on 38 points and in 17th, when we should really have ended the season strongly and made it to comfortable 14th. I would so dearly love us to win a major trophy again and I will be supporting for all I'm worth on Saturday. Overall the season has been a disaster but victory on Saturday would make it so worthwhile.
  11. It's got to be right. As my signature has said all year. I'd rather turn away from any deal that's not going to bring us on. They have to get it right if it's happening. The Premiership is becoming an absolute money pit where if you're not in the top 8 you're worried about relegation.
  12. I don't really see what more in reality the stewards could have done. The aisles were swamped by people going forwards towards the pitch. The amount of fans that had been drinking literally all day as well was high. They could hardly have held them all off. Even if they had got rough and got hold of one or two and slung them out the other two thousand would have still got through. A verdict of bad stewarding is harsh. People have got to take responsibility.
  13. D-Day for relegation this Saturday then. The Sunday and Monday games this weekend have nothing to do with the battle at the bottom so that will be the only feature for all the Saturday coverage. The early kick off for us is an awkward one. It could I suppose work in our favour. The pressure created the last two weeks by Leicester and Sunderland winning the early games hasn't been easy, but we've done superbly and got through it on both occasions. If we win that will obviously be the finish line for us and we can just enjoy how the situation around us unfolds. The flip side is that if we get beat it will be a madly nervy afternoon looking at other results. Hull and Newcastle will have their tails well and truly up if we were to lose. Normally I'd say that QPR have a great chance to beat Newcastle at their place with the pressure off now, but they were so horrendously poor against City that they will struggle to come back from that performance. Spurs just look like they want the season to end. Kane's bubble that he's kept going so well over the season seems to have burst a bit and in my opinion they have been shocking at the back. I could see Hull getting something there to make a last day fight of it. The Leicester Sunderland fixture guarantees at least one other team between us and the bottom 3 if the worst happens come 5pm Saturday, but as it stands right now you fancy both of them to survive. We have to have the mentality that if we win it's game over. We could even rest a few for the Burnley game and start thinking about the final a week earlier. Also if we win then the takeover situation may see some real movement over the following weeks. Huge weekend for the club.
  14. I would want another player in the midfield, a keeper to rival Guzan and a centre back. I think Okore's done ok but not special, I would also want more security than relying on the injury prone Vlaar and Senderos. Clark has done well this season but I still think it's an area where we can improve.
  15. Want Grealish----Delph---Cleverley---Millner Wouldn't be bothered by Milner any more. Never go back. I would rather sign Sinclair and Cleverley on permanents and then look for someone younger. I'm really excited to see what Tim can do in the market. If there was any genuine praise for Lambert, it was that he seemed to know his moves in the transfer windows. The rumours so far have been Bamford from Chelsea on loan and Sako from Wolves.
  16. Slightly left field but are Bent and Gardner back available for the run in now their Championship seasons are over?
  17. Is Darren Bent also coming back to training? What a boost to have Gardner back to support Westwood, Delph, Cleverley and Sanchez.
  18. Nzogbia was excellent yesterday so he really shouldn't. He wasn't though. Running into players, giving the ball away, it was standard N'Zogbia fare. He's certainly our weakest link at the moment. Maybe Gil couldn't play as a second striker, which was essentially Zogs role, but I've seen enough of him to say he's a better player. Not really fussed as we're playing excellently at present, just hope we keep hold of him in the summer. Surprised by the comments here. I thought Everton really struggled against N'Zogbia. He held it close to him well and was a good outlet when we put it forward from our own half. One of Zog's better performances for me. As long as we play a diamond I think he and Grealish work quite well together.
  19. I know Benteke and Delph are our main men right now but for me Cleverley was MOTM yesterday. Full of running, dangerous, overpowered McCarthy and Barry and a marvellous finish for the goal. If the £7m quoted is accurate I'd pay it to keep this midfield together. Westwood has also been fantastic since his bad press about being sold a couple of weeks back.
  20. I was really pleased with Zog against Everton. He was a good outlet and caused them problems. I've always thought, regardless of how disappointing he has been over the years as a whole, he could be a great asset to us. I hope he keeps his place with Benteke and Grealish for West Ham and that Gabby isn't just put back in because he's Gabby.
  21. West Brom to now roll over to any team still in the mix with Villa lol? I would normally fancy a well drilled Tony Pulis side to go and take advantage of Newcastle but I bet there is just a little bit of them that wouldn't be bothered to lose.
  22. I honestly think if we had had Benteke in the MON or even the Gregory era we would have made the jump to the elite group of clubs in the country.
  23. So so happy with that performance and result. I honestly thought Everton would come and put us to the sword today. Even though we're playing well I thought their form would out-gun us. Marvellous stuff. It's actually a bit gutting that as we pull off huge results like that all the teams around us are picking up points. I assume QPR and Burnley, although they have both fought gallantly, will just run out of matches to save themselves now. Arsenal could do us an enormous favour on Monday but I still think it could end up nervy for us after next week. Sunderland will look at Everton as the mid-table also rans waiting for the summer break. (I really hope Everton find some bite again after today's near no-show.) Hull will hope to use home advantage on Burnley to put them down and get themselves into a good position again. And both Leicester and Newcastle will fancy their chances with home games against the now comfortable Southampton and West Brom that they will look at as must-wins. Of course all of them could have a nightmare and it could be the ideal Saturday for us, but I think beating West Ham will actually be an absolute necessity amongst the other results of the day.
  24. Saturday is all important for me. Sunderland winning and us losing is perfectly plausible and would be potentially catastrophic for us. With Pearson clearly feeling the pressure the Leicester game is unpredictable but Newcastle look too drained to collect all 3 points at the King Power. The best we can hope for is that we go into the last 3 games still with a lead on Sunderland.
