  1. There are a lot of people out there who voted Tory and don't really know what they have done. This next five years is going to be brutal for many. Fair play to the Tories, they had the more credible leader, the backing of the press and their campaign team used the most powerful weapon at their disposal - fear. They have done a cracking job of duping people into believing a lie. Selfishly, I should just about be ok for the next 5 years, providing I don't get sick or lose my job, but a lot of people won't be. A sad day for the UK.
  2. I have reluctantly voted Labour. I have no great deal of confidence in Miliband, but It's come down to morality for me. I might be voting for decency and risking incompetance, but I cannot vote for a party that I KNOW will ultimately do more for the privileged at the expense of the impoverished. I also disagree vehemently with this crackpot plan they have of running a budget surplus and I shudder at the thought of where they are going to try and find the odd £8bn of unspecified cuts they need to make it happen. If the Tories do get a majority (or even enough for another coalition) then it will be down to people voting based on 'the economy' and that saddens me. It's a swindle.
  3. Watched the first 'Enfield Haunting' , it was pretty good to be fair.
  4. As Eames said, the idea of reducing benefit payments, especially for those who 'don't deserve it' sounds like a good idea, but it's the execution of the idea that counts. Just look at the way they cut child benefit for the 'wealthiest' as one small example. Your household income could be £99,999.98p and receive full child benefit, but the family next door, where it's one income of £60k get nothing. Now I'm not actually arguing about people with those kind of incomes having CB cut, but just try and get your head around how that's the best way to do it for a second. It's complete incompetance. That's before you look at stuff that is really hitting actual poor people, like the bedroom tax and the next epic Tory **** which is the roll out of 'universal credits'. They are not saving enough to make the misery they are inflicting on people worthwhile. The amount of money wasted by Government and Tax evasion dwarfs anything they are claiming they can save by an astronomical amount. 'Benefit savings' should be filed in the same category as, 'why we need more Austerity', 'Labour caused the recession' and 'we could have been Greece' - that category being; bullshit they have somehow managed to make people believe.
  5. Just when you thought the Daily Mail couldn't sink any lower, along comes Littlejohn..... He's gotta be up there with the biggest words removed in the universe.
  6. Fantastic today. Tackled/pressed well, made numerous interceptions and his passing was outstanding. A near perfect holding performance.
  7. Who do you think they would go for then Tony? May and Osbourne have been mentioned, but I think both could be easily ripped apart by a credible opposition (if the others can muster such a thing) Neither have much of a personality and both come across as more arrogant/aloof than Dave? Boris is a loose cannon, but still their best bet for a majority imo?
  8. Hutton at LB would be far better than Richardson imo.
  9. Awww sheeeeeet, I don't know how I managed to forget about Boris. Strike the previous comment, the easily duped British Public would lap up that clown and we would be royally taking one up the rear with an unrestrained Tory Party in the chair. I'm starting to worry now.
  10. Tom Hardy is an absolute G. Mad Max The Kray Twins Elton John That's some range of acting skills right there.
  11. I see this as the best outcome to be honest. A hung parliament, followed by another election within 12 months. Cameron goes, Tories implode. Ed goes, the better brother comes in. Labour majority in the rearranged election. Winner winner, chicken dinner.
  12. Wouldn't it have been better if his brother, Ed, had done it? Dunno what you mean
  13. What's people's view on the whole Millibrand thing then? I thought the interview was interesting and I think EM deserves a bit of credit for doing it? Not sure on his strange attempts at being 'street' at times, but overall it wasn't a complete car crash imo. The reaction from Cameron and the Tory press has been vitriolic and I'm not sure how much good that will do them come Election Day? It smacks of more elitist arrogance, but also I sense a bit of fear aswell.
  14. thought it was very strange they didn't attach an ant man trailer to it at the start, that film is really going to struggle I can see where you're coming from, but It's worth bearing in mind that Civil War is going to be nothing like the comic storyline, beyond the real basic foundations. It won't be on the same scale (it basically can't be) and it won't have much of the detail of the story as it stands either. I think some of the big story beats will be there, it's a decent bet Black Panther will take the Spiderman role, for instance. But it won't be the faithful adaptation we'd all like. The interesting bit now is how the upcoming films set up the various pieces for IW1&2. Ant man and Doctor Strange seem like odd ones out of the face of it, but I have a feeling both will play major parts in the buld to CAP 3 and IW. I think the next 3 movies - Ant Man, CAP 3 and DS will focus on the Civil War story, before GOTG 2 and Thor gets the build up towards IW going. Where the Spiderman film fits in is hard to say, I think it's pretty much confirmed that he's in CAP 3, so who knows. Fwiw, I think the first IW will be Marvel's 'Empire'. I think the next few films lend to IW opening with the Avengers (and associates) separated and weakened for a variety of reasons. Thanos will give them a kicking in part 1, Black Panther and Captain Marvel will help them get their shit back together (there's also an as yet untitled Marvel film scheduled at the same time as Black Panther too) before it's all in for a massive intergalactic dust up in part 2. Gonna be ace.
  15. I actually 'LOL'd' this morning when I read the 5k SME's back the Tories story. 5k out of 4.9m estimated SME business' in the UK. 0.1% Lambert had a higher % of support on here than that!
  16. We should employ some evil genius and make a Frankenstein LB from Bennett, Luna, Cissoko and Richardson. If if we added all the best bits of that lot together, we would have a LB almost as good as Nicky Shorey!
  17. Agreed, except nobody's done that? "The Westwood's of this world" followed by listing Matić as a player that would be equally underappreciated. It's quite clear how it would read like that. In true VT fashion, you picked up on one player I mentioned and made the whole point about Westwood not being similar to Matic, not about the overall point. But hey ho, you are right - Matic and Westwood are not the same player. You win.
  18. I just think it's a bit of a piss poor excuse tbh. Priceless that These bloody foreigners, coming over hear, taking their time to 'adapt' - ship em out I say!
  19. Because they have a different opinion maybe?
  20. About time we spunked millions on a foreign player who doesn't need time to adapt IMO. Go tell the chairman then Woody, because our current budget is unlikely to do it.
  21. Who's done that then? None of the players I mentioned are the same and that isn't what I said at all if you read properly, but they all have similar roles to play for their teams. Protect the back four, pass it to the players who can damage the opposition. They may do it differently, but the role is similar none the less. And if we had Matic, I guarantee you there would be people on here complaining that he didn't effect the game enough.
  22. Me too Chindie, me too! Baited breath and a couple of wet wipes.
  23. So we've still not learnt about foreign players taking time to adapt then? Obviously shit and must get rid. I mean if he can't learn the lingo, adapt to a new country and get used to a completely different style of play in less than a year (all in a struggling side battling relegation for the fourth year running) then what's the point. We need a midfielder who can protect the back four, with a 100% pass ratio and be able to open up the opposition with surging runs and incisive forward passing, whilst scoring at least 10 goals. 10 to a penny them, should be easy with our budget.
  24. There will always be fans who criticise the Westwoods of the world, because they aren't exciting and therefore 'don't do anything' If we had Matic, or Carrick, or Lucas, or Coquelin - people would be saying the same. It's the role not the player. People wouldn't admit it now, but some said the same about Petrov. He's a footballer's footballer
  25. So the Avengers then. I don't know why they persist with these kids movies tbh. Totally ludicrous plot, basically just one huge action scene after another and a complete cerebral overload of special effects. Two and a bit hours of complete insanity. It was frickin brilliant! An easy 8.5 on the Pooligan scale. No spoilers, but that scene with Hulk and Iron Man -
