  1. glad i read that last part Haha yeah.. We know two of the players mentioned will be out of contract by the time the match takes place. Probably for the best in Heskey's case, otherwise that river behind the goal will be full of footballs.
  2. He had a decent game in a pre season friendly where fiorentina didn't turn up. a good game against man utd and he had a good game against brighton in the fa cup. the other 20 times he has played he has been awful. he can't tackle can't pass and generally can't control the football. i would get rid of him ASAP. he is also injury prone I think we should stick with him for a little longer. He hasn't had an extended run in the team until this season, and to be fair to the lad he hasn't done well, but then you could say the same about the whole of the first team squad this season. I would be against getting rid of any of our younger players at the moment, because under a different manager they may flourish, and I'm hoping we'll have a different manager for next season. One who can instill confidence and play players to their strengths.
  3. I'm with you Richard. Until we're mathmatically safe we're still in trouble imo. The worrying thing is that some of the teams below are picking up wins here and there, whereas we have had one fortunate victory in recent weeks. I can see the gap between us and the relegation zone closing right up over the next few weeks. We rarely make life comfortable for ourselves, and I can see it going down to the last game before we know either way. We just don't have that extra special bit of quality in our squad anymore, that bit of quality that can grab a victory from nothing.
  4. That is what I was thinking, I remember a deduction carrying forward to the next season for someone like you said. I also had a look at the fixtures coming up for them, some winable games but as you say they come thick and fast, and as we know when the legs have gone from your season you can't buy a win.
  5. If they are finally hitting the wall and have tiring legs after a long hard season, they will start to drop down the table and out of play off contention. Do we think they will go into administration this season to avoid a points penalty next season? How late can they leave it before the penalty is imposed on next season?
  6. Yes this is exactly what this is. Keane and McLeish have made noises about a summer move between the two parties. It is in Keane's interest if McLeish remains in charge at VP, as if he doesn't then he may not get a move back to the PL.
  7. Yeah Haye was out of order at the PC, it was like he was feeling bitter about his own defeat and wanted to get some publicity and maybe a re-match against Klitchko, but it all spiraled out of control.
  8. What a pair of idiots these two are, they are an embarrasment to Bristish boxing. When I saw this on Sky Sports News I thought I had accidentally tuned into the WWE wrestling by mistake. No class from either of them, especially from Chisora who has been acting the tit since the build up to the fight.

I don't know if you have managed to sort this in the mean time, but this is what I found on the internet:- Having problems with a rusty shaft
  10. Lol reading the Pat Shurmur page on Wiki, and it says the following:- While potentially hamstrung in attempts to install a new offensive system by the NFL lockout, the Browns played through the first half of the 2011 season at or near the bottom of the league in almost every offensive category. Starting several rookies, Shurmur's team was frequently beset by confusion in personnel and play-calling at critical junctures. Early in the year the defense surrendered a touchdown on a failure to break the defensive huddle, and the team's chances in several games were compromised by a host of special teams mistakes and meltdowns. At the midpoint of the season, in a telling series in which Shurmur called for a conservative ball-protection strategy, the Browns recovered their own fumble resulting from a mistakenly-called hand off to a 3rd sting tight-end lined up at fullback, only to botch a short go-ahead field goal attempt with a failed snap and uncoordinated line movement. It doesn't sound like they need to share ideas, they already seem to be doing the same things with poor attacks and lots of mistakes. From Wiki
  11. There is no point in comparing MON's first season with this season, firstly MON came to the job late in the summer transfer window and had no time to mould his team as he would have liked, secondly there was always hope that we would improve with financing from Lerner in the summer after a big splurge in the January window. This season McLeish has had all summer to prepare his squad how he likes so he doesn't have that excuse, there is little sign to me that the team are or will get better as they are making the same mistakes over and over, and little sign that Lerner is going to finance a decent rebuild of the squad in the summer. So the big difference in those two seasons is/was hope! Previously we had been rubbish and relegation fodder, but could see the shoots of recovery, this time we're heading in the other direction.
  12. I voted No. I have no confidence in the man to do the job, I believe he has good intentions, but not the know how of how to implement them. His previous record and style in this league are not good enough, one 9th placed position in three seasons is nothing to write home about. I also think that Randy needs to remove Faulkner, take a back seat himself, and appoint an experienced and dynamic CEO who has the know how and vision to make us competitive again.
  13. I agree with the above. Wigan, Bolton are games we must not lose. Wins in those two games would more or less see us safe, especially if we can pick up points against Blackburn and Fulham. My confidence in us achieving the required set of results from those four games is very low, especially now it looks like Dunne is out for a while. After that, I don't see many more points coming our way for a little while. What a sad state of affairs! Relegation scrap is well and truely on the cards. I just hope we can get enough points that we are not going in to the last match needing a result.

    Golf Season 2012

Yeah I have heard good things about the Mizuno irons. I'm still building my set up, as I've been borrowing a set of Cobra's off my friend for the last year or so, I've just had a promotion at work so I treated myself to the 4-PW set . My friend who lent me the clubs plays with Mizuno's and swears by them, so I thought I would give them a go. My next plan is to get some wedges (Sand and Gap) and long iron/rescue club. The guy who sold me the Mizuno irons, has some demo Vokey wedges that he said I can borrow for a round to see how I get on, so I might give those a go. It has been a bit longer than two weeks since I last played unfortunately, more like two months. Christmas, Family and weather have hit my golfing big time. This weekend looks like a good bet, if we can organise it and get booked in anywhere. I think a trip to the range may be in order beforehand as I'll definately be a bit rusty.

    Golf Season 2012

I have just taken delivery of my new Mizuno MP-53 Irons, and I'm quite excited. I'm looking forward to getting out on a course to give them a proper go. Come on snow, it is time to melt!
  16. TBH my interest has dwindled to not even bothering to watch it on Sky. I have recently taken Sky Sports on a deal, but I don't want to watch us, partly because I fear it ruining my day. I have a young family, and I don't want to walk around like a bear with a sore head all day. My sports channel will mainly be on for watching the Golf and F1.
  17. Yep, McLaren will probably be frantically working away on a new nose by now just in case they have been left behind. If they have cocked up again, I expect Hamilton will be off at the end of the season, and you couldn't blame him. Things haven't been the same since Ron (and my Dad :winkold: , my Dad made parts for the Hamilton's championship winning season ) retired imo, and they seem to always be playing catch up.
  18. True, if we had kept up the fight in the top 5 or 6 then I guess a better deal would have been on the table. The last couple of seasons has seen our star wane considerably.
  19. I share your concerns. I have thought this since the beginning of the season. Even though we have never been in the bottom three yet, we have never looked like being 100% safe at any point. We just don't seem to be able to string together any kind of good form, the sort of form that helps you climb the table. We have hovered all season just above the bottom 3, without ever looking like leaving them behind and being able to relax and look forward and upwards. My concern is that at this time of year the teams that looked dead and buried in December sometimes find some fight and form and put a run together, and someone from mid table usually drops down into the fight. My only hope is that the teams down the bottom don't find that fight this season, as we don't look like finding any consitant form any time soon to keep us safe.
  20. It says four years in the above article. So is it £15 million over 4 years? Which to be honest isn't that great a deal to be shouting about. It is ok, but light years behind others in our league.
  21. Surely It won't be £15m per year, £15m over 2-3 years maybe? If it is £15m per year, then hats off to the person who negotiated that for us as that is about 3 times what Nike were paying us from memory.

Play suspended in Qatar according to the beeb due to high winds. It looked windy on the highlights last night, so I dread to think how bad it is today.
  23. Hmmm interesting about the crooked nose. I wonder why McLaren are the odd ones out, they have either missed a trick or pulled off a master stroke. Any pics of the new Red Bull? If Adrian Newey has put a crooked nose on that then they've missed a trick as he is usually the master at new car set ups.
  24. Sorry to be a pedant, but we were 1 goal behind at half time. I kind of agree with the jist of your post. Yes it was a good comeback and the second half was much improved and we created a number of chances and should have had a couple of penalties. I want to see more of that level of performance, on a more consistant basis, against better opposition before I can start to feel too positive about our future under McLeish. Hopefully we can build on this and have a strong finish to the season, though our history throughout this season suggests we won't.
