  1. I really don't understand why people get upset about who is making our kit. Is it just some kind of 'designer label' snobbery? I've been buying Villa shirts for 20 years and they are always fine. I don't think Nike have been better than Reebok or Umbro or Diadora or Hummel or whoever. It really doesn't matter. I think it's cool to have someone a little different who will see us as a big deal rather than Nike who really couldn't give a ****. I think we as fans have been treated poorly by Nike with all the delays the past couple of years. Sod them.
  2. Yeah but Pardew is on a completely different level to McLeish. I'm not sure I'd agree with that. Before this season Pardew was hardly considered a top manager. He failed at West Ham, Charlton and Southampton before getting the Newcastle job because no one else would touch it. Quite a similar level to McLeish I'd say. Although McLeish has won a trophy, Pardew has not.
  3. Bent is obviously class and doesn't just score against the shit teams. He's scored for us against Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal. So happy that the transfer rumours proved incorrect.
  4. We obviously have some problems at the back but we looked very good attacking tonight in the second half. There are glimmers of hope that maybe it is all going to come together at some point soon. I'm just concerned that our good attacking play will come to an end once Robbie Keane leaves us. At least now I fancy us to win matches unlike a couple of months back when I couldn't see where our next point was coming from. Far from convinced of McLeish but maybe more willing now to give him more time to prove us wrong.
  5. Given games, confidence and a manager who knows how to use him I still think Delph will be a good player for us.
  6. An error is something that when recognised is corrected. What is it when, once recognised, it is decided that it won't be corrected? Ignorance, arrogance, incompetence, negligence?
  7. In almost 25 years of supporting Villa I've never been this disillusioned or drained of optimism. I thought Lerner was going to do great things for us but now I want him, Faulkner and McLeish gone. We are headed dangerously in the wrong direction and all we get from our owner is 1 interview where he admits to communication errors followed by more silence and no presence.
  8. not sure about today but i thought he was excellent against Arsenal and Chelsea. Much improved and I think he will prove many of you wrong.
  9. I hope some of our players threw those Terry comments from a couple of years back in his slow and past it face. There was almost as much pleasure in seeing him look completely shit as there was in us winning.
  10. The last 3 games have certainly given me some hope but you have to ask what the hell McLeish was thinking in the previous couple of months. We were playing dog shit football and offering nothing in attack while conceding sloppy goals. Now all of a sudden we look dangerous, attack with purpose and are quite solid at the back and in midfield. Nzogbia looks a different player, really impressive right now and obviously Ireland today is a big boost. I hope we can keep this going.
  11. Does anyone know why Gordon Cowans was not on the bench against Arsenal?
  12. I think after the horror tackle on Shane Long everyone jumped on him and now has this 'thug' reputation, plus he was playing poorly so fair enough for the criticism. In the last few matches though he has started to look decent, not great but I don't think he deserves the continued abuse. I think he will prove to be a solid squad player over the coming couple of seasons.
  13. If we continue to play like we did today with NZogbia and Super Marc getting quality balls into the box then I think Bent will score a shit load of goals. No way should we sell him.
  14. I've not been impressed with Hutton but would people really be slagging him off tonight had he not been sent off? He had a good game today and just lost his head in frustration that we were going to lose again.
  15. I think I would be devastated if we sold Bent.
  16. If we sell Bent then we are ****. Simple as that. No one of any note will bother coming to our club for years to come.
  17. sadly a 40 year old Keane could still do a job in our midfield. Roy Keane doesnt like modern footballers as they are the opposite of his character who lack determination and care about the bling and cant see him coming back as a manager His managerial ability leaves a lot to be desired, but we need someone who isn't going to take any shit whatsoever. Surely we have someone right now that doesn't 'take shit'. McLeish has enforced discipline on Bannan, NZogbia (maybe Bent???) for stepping out of line. What we need is a manager who is tactically astute, clever in the transfer market, sees football as an entertaining game where you try and win by scoring goals, and isn't full of excuses. We don't need someone to come in and kick arses and yell.
  18. Collins plays shit every week and there are no consequences. Where is the motivation for him to play better? McLeish came in and right away he was up Collins and Dunne's arse for some reason. The defense is a joke, the midfield play scared or just watch the ball float over their heads and the attack is isolated. Even if we had Ash Young and Downing, with these tactics we would still be playing like shit.
  19. He's starting to sound as clueless and desperate as oleary was towards the end. We all know this isn't going to end well so we might as well get rid now. Mcleish: no history no future
  20. I still think his debut at West Ham was one of the best Villa debuts I've ever seen and if that shot of his hadn't been cleared off the line who knows what might have been. Still been a great servant for the club, but perhaps not exactly the player I thought we had signed at the time.
  21. I can't believe he sacked MON. Why would he do it at that time? That makes little sense no matter what you think of Lerner. O'Neill quit.
  22. If 30,000 of us all threw in £100 we'd have the 3million to pay him off.
  23. on my game of football manager Gary Gardner was just described as "the next Steve Sidwell". I bloody hope not!
  24. I backed GH because I honestly thought he had a long term plan and vision of where he wanted to take the club so I was willing to put up with the pains of change. I don't see anything from McLeish that I can find any kind of comfort in though. No plan, no tactics - just excuses and talk that sounds good but is never followed through in the matches. The way we have played all season has been leading to this point now. The Newcastle game we were awful and very lucky to draw and I think that was the point where my support started to wane. Since then we have been awful and the last 3 games have been embarrassing. We did well against Blackburn, Norwich and Wigan (the 3 to go down?) the rest has been shit.
