  1. Most teams when they build start with the defence first, we were only interested in forwards and spent the money there. This team has needed a leader for quite some time, we made do with our best player and left the defence to a bunch of ball watchers who's reaction rate is as quick as paint drying. With a leader come's organization and responsibility, what happen's in training is a mystery because no one know's their job's and we are picked apart far to easily. The only decent thing today was Southampton got on the team bus at half time, job done.
  2. The club should put the 7-2 scoreboard photo out on canvas.

    Paul McGrath

God never moved, the ball came to him.
  4. We made Bamford look like Robbie Fowler.
  5. I hope Dean noticed the hunger of the leeds players and the work rate that goe's with it, most of our team dreamed that Bielsa would let us walk another goal in. Freebie's are to be paid for.
  6. What always disappoints me is we never adapt to a game, we put a team out and play that way and only that way. Leeds made a change after 20 mins when they could see a problem and went on to target cash to provide the route to most off our downfall. Cash was not to blame but the lack of help he received was amount to a kid getting a school dinner from the government. We all know if you run through the middle at that defence a gaping hole appears, bielsa knew it and exploited it. Tactics are a major part of the game we just do not use it.
  7. Our defence seems very weak, you could run a bus through the centre but it has not been addressed. You can buy all the attacking players you want but in the end if you leak goals the task gets that much harder.
  8. Dean Smith and his coaching staff failed on every level, training, substitutions, fitness, game management and never had a plan b. If smith stays you are saying its okay to fail and produce a season that never reached any potential at all, we could not even score in the last few games and that will win you nothing. We scraped into this division and we are going out without landing a glove on our opponents, one of the poorest seasons in recent times, you stick with smith and all you get is more off the same and a slow painful decline. Leadership has not been shown anywhere from top to bottom and we ended up where we belong.
  9. Makes me wonder what a manager does, not responsible for the players and staff bit pointless then.
  10. Maybe wolves are better than us because they have a better manager.
  11. The Wesley situation says it all for me, Why would any other player put a shift in when a stand out problem is not addressed, if your not dropped when you are failing why bother. Ron Saunders was all about discipline, he even kept on his key players backs to let them know who was boss. Watford had pearson we had smith no contest.
  12. We need a leader, there is not one at the club. He doe's not have to be the best player in the world but someone who will take control. Where's that nasty little scot who is in your face all the game and will let you know it, our so called leaders are to soft and accept results. Nicola Sturgeon is the character we need but with boots.
  13. Best times of my villa life were under this legend of a man, we all believed in a team that gave everything they had for this guy who was a major taskmaster and disciplinarian. We will never see the like again so a very big Thank You Sir Ron , rest with the stars and always be admired by villa fans. RIP Ron
  14. Like everything today people only ask the simple questions, that is what lands you in the play offs and not automatic promotion. Thank god they had an inexperienced manager who made the mistake of not taking gayle of 5 mins before his sending off as it was plain as day for the more astute and not just a meercat fan.
  15. Whelan should not have started, whatever happened to man marking, gale just sat in between the two defenders all day and ran the show. Defending zones is a new disaster the king in invisible clothes, and when the opposition are giants why would you put high balls in the box, hard and low is the way and attack them down the centre as gale showed us.
  16. Looked to me like Jack thought he had been attacked by the mascot. or was it peggy Mitchel !
  17. All I want is for someone to take charge, clear out the dross the alto egos and the just useless. I am not a great believer in one man teams and the rest play homage to that player so young eager future talent would be an area I would like to go, a few old heads and a mix of younger fresh legged keen to learn footballers. I hope smith can do that but our coaches need to be looked at and maybe a new approach and not just go down the retired footballer route. Now is smiths time I hope he rises to it.
  18. There was one job to do last night and that was to mark billy sharp, our defence is shocking only equalled by the ref and some of our baby players. Its part of the game to read a ref and know what you can get away with Liverpool won titles on it.
