Amazing comment. He's been excellent since Emery came in (bar the Liverpool game for parts), and was pretty much our only shining light when that absolute con artist was in charge even though he was grossly mismanaged. He's arguably our best player and is forming a potentially titanic partnership with Kamara. 1st or second name on the team sheet stuff.

Out of some of the total garbage we have littering the bottom end of our squad you’d take away our only proper pace outlet, trickster and wide player with 4 goals and 2 assists in all comps first? quite glad it’s not “up to you” thank you very much.

Watkins is probably the fittest player in the league and he's quick enough but he's not in the same pace bracket as say Bailey, Sarr, Walker etc.

Home game coming up in which we're going to have the majority of possession. Depending on Luiz's Knee situation, we could see Sanson partnering Kamara in the middle of the park? If it were better opposition then clearly it would be Dendoncker but I think this might give us an idea of Sanson's standing with Unai who picked him over others on the bench against Spurs. (Hoping that DL is absolutely fine really though)

Sorry if my post made it seem like I wasn't backing your point up which I was trying to do. Bailey is the person who is the weak link at the moment in the side for me. That position in Emery's system needs to be contributing 10-15 goals a season in order for us to progress. Totally on board with your assessment of Ollie's finishing however.

Not sure there is a player in world football that can work a Center Back like Watkins when on form and score goals at the rate that people seem to be looking for. Sorry.

No where, because he plays 3 roles in one. The wide forwards score all the goals in every other successful team. Watkins is absolutely critical to how we play under Emery, he's the biggest handful upfront in the Premier League when he's on form. We need wide forwards to be the finishers, anything Watkins scores should be a bonus.

I think it would be much more documented if we were doing badly. Luckily, we are not crying out for it and I hope he gets a good rest because I think he needed it. Comes back all firing.

This is perhaps the first time ever in my living memory that if I had the chance to meet any current Villa player and have a 15 minute chat with them face to face, I would actually choose the manager.

He came off after treatment but I didn’t see a dressing or strapping on the knee when he was talking on the bench with people during the last few mins so hopefully just precautionary.

McGinn’s actually been one of our better players. Played two outstanding balls that should have been goals and has looked composed.

Enjoying the game, we should have scored 2 at least which is disappointing and would have given the game a totally different feel. Anyone who thinks we somehow have a right to be matching a side worth around 500m more than ours are funny on the inside.
