  1. There's obviously a lot we don't see so can't judge but no one can tell me that Purslow is not an absolute force at what he does. Apparently, he ran all of those prem committee meetings during lockdown and even without the Chukwuemeka thing I would have bet he'd be the one sitting next to Boehly at that dinner.
  2. It's scary how well he strikes ball left and right foot just outside the box. With power, either foot finding the corners. Hyperbole alert, but theres world class strikers who cant do that. Then you have his one on ones, his movement to get the tap ins as well. It's rare to have 'proper' strikers like that come through who are a threat from anywhere.
  3. I do think he'll do better there then he would with us weirdly. In a team who can dominate the ball and are inevitably up against weaker opposition he will get more opportunity to show his ball carrying/attacking ability with better players feeding him the ball. I can see more of those Burnley away style cameos where he comes on against tired legs at 2-0 and he's getting some assists, goals late on. He's a million miles away from starting games, Tuchel takes no prisoners with players with the tactical side but he'll probably be more willing to embrace that side of the game because he's at Chelsea and not Villa.
  4. Yeah I love that vid. Again a bit specific to be remembering, but for a fair period they used to play this over the montage vid which was kinda random but went well with it I thought. It built up really well with the clips. Particularly the old footage, FA cup win etc. Love crazy train though.
  5. Yeah I think I agree it's not the epic they are going for. I don't know where the horns are from but have been there since the early 2000s, one of the things I vividly remember as a kid. It used to start with the Thunderbirds 5,4,3,2,1 and then the horns.
  6. We walk out to Escape by Craig Armstrong. I can't quite decide whether I like it or if its completely shit (it's a bit depressing)
  7. I will show you two examples from that season that I can remember because they both lead to opposition goals @ 0.58 and 2.28 in the video. Failure to trap a ball/heavy touch. That season with everything going through Grealish it didn't get exposed as much but since he's had to come and link the play up more his limitations have got more exposed. Its just a struggle to trap a ball at times..and the thing is, I don't even think he's bad in front of goal. Maybe he's not the greatest finisher, but I actually think he's more than good enough in that area. It's just attacks ruined because of a failure in being able to receive a pass without taking 5 touches I mean in that West Ham game he actually scores and hits the post and Im not blaming him for the goals conceded because that's on the defence but it's an extreme example of how the net effect of not being able to do the basics can negate goals scored in a season. Its more of an issue as we get more technical players who want to play into feet and I'm convinced that it's a part of the problem as to why we can't build attacks (not the only one mind... as you say there's other reasons beyond that)
  8. Sounds like you actually watch the games and dont just regurgitate shite stats.
  9. Wasn't the thing they agreed a package but then his team asked for more money out of nowhere. Villa told them deal off.
  10. Bang on, all players acquired from or when we were in the championship. Cash, Mcginn, Watkins are just workhorses
  11. Same thread where a month ago we should of apparently been asking for 40-50 mill for him.
  12. And it will be... "why don't we create enough for the strikers" "With all the money we've spent we shouldnt be doing better than 11th" when the fact is you can't do anything as an attacking outlet with a striker like him.
  13. How many times does Watkins have to prove he is a **** awful footballer before he gets dropped
  14. Tottenham sign Joe Roden for 11million, he plays 15 games for them in 2 years and it's clearly decided he is a bust, gets loaned to Rennes with an £18 million option to buy. The premium that comes with playing for the top 6 is insane. I swear if El Ghazi played for Spurs they'd get 12 million for him.
  15. Was similar at Brentford, they were a brilliant attacking side in the championship that season before he signed for us and fed him with the chances around the 6 yard box but I was never impressed by him. He'll always be there for those type of chances (he was there for the tap in when Bailey rounded the keeper today) but watching him trying to build play or carry the ball is painful. I've got hammered for saying how much he holds us back as an attacking threat. How many times do you see Buendia play off him, or even play him through? Coutinho with the forwards he's played with must think wtf at times.
  16. This commentator is the perfect example of how opposition fans view Mcginn vrs a lot of villa fans
  17. Bailllllley wooooah I didn't think villa players could do that
  18. Does any opposition centrehalf the night before a game worry about Danny Ings or Ollie Watkins? The likes of Rashford and Martial might not be world beaters but youd think jesus I don't want them running at me or in behind, I want my fullback helping out with them Other strikers cause problems by being physical, a handful in the air...they might knock u about. Watkins and Ings have nothing. Never does one of them turn on the ball carry face a man up and you think danger. Even Archer a centre half might think he's a shortarse and I'll be able to deal with him physically, but he turns on the ball, is sharp he creates uncertainty with his movement. It's a two way thing with strikers, yes you need to feed them but they have to get you into the game themselves.
  19. Desperately need a striker. Ings and Watkins are just names that are good on paper.
  20. The pitch is doing us a favour, if it was a decent surface I could see them cutting through us.
