  1. Going on the first 4 games and having watched all of ours, Norwich and SU out of us three that came up, my money would be on them being in the PL next season!!
  2. Apologies if this has been done before this is the first time I have been on this thread but..............I wonder if Deans insistance on this try and win every game, 4-3-3 formation will be our undoing this season? Why are we playing 3 up top? We looked very poor against Palace, I've just watched West Ham v Norwich and although Norwich lost they looked half decent and organised no where near as headless as we did yesterday we were f****** woeful! I don't think Norwich have as good a squad as us and I reckon they will go down. We have a really strong crop of midfielders, and a relatively poor group of strikers maybe a similar to Norwich 4-2-3-1 would suit us? Or a Sheff utd 3-5-2 but we'd need strikers that can score goals! Just watching Chelsea v Sheff utd now and Tammy has just put his 2nd away wish he was our * - * - * - 1.
  3. He deserved his sending off, stupid 2nd yellow very naive from him he didn't need to clatter in like that. Still not sure what to think of this guy.
  4. The ref was embarassing you could tell early on we were going to get nothing, however we were really off the pace today far far to many mistakes if we play like that away from home for the rest of the season we will take some hammerings off the better sides and our home form will need to be top draw if we want to stay in this league. Jack needs to learn to stay on his feet more and stop looking for the foul, he does get a lot of attention and fouled but if he gets labelled a diver we are knackered he'll get nothing from refs. Well bottom three going into the international break, we deserved to lose that one, lets move on!
  5. Replace the words McGrath with God and I will have your back forever!!
  6. You had that revalation 6 days ago class!!
  7. Looks like he's been around for a while!
  8. They are excited...............that's what drawing a big team in a cup does....gets the smaller teams all excited, few tissues getting thrown in the bin on the Sarf coast today Bring it on.............
  9. Only if they put out a weakened team they are an established PL team we are not (yet)
  10. Which will be a shame as it will limit the game time the second string would have had if we had drawn a championship side.
  11. I don't think we will see the same 11 as Tuesday for this one expect a much stronger team.
  12. Palace lost there first 5 games in a row last season and they haven't exactly spent to improve in the off season, contain Zaha and they are pretty toothless................let Marvelous loose on him!
  13. Haven't watched the full game just the goals and some extended highlights.................Crewe seemed to have a lot of shots with a lot on target and there goal was a soft one he went past about 4 Villa players! should we be concerned? Did the result flatter?
  14. Have to agree, no real place for both in the team good competition though, and I think we might see some squad rotation as the season goes on.
  15. If it was a true park the bus Taylor would be in ahead of Targett.
  16. Shite at home we'll be up for this one, can see an away win here UTV
  17. Other than results/reports on the BBC and other sports news websites I didn't get to see much of Jack over the last couple of years in the championship here in Oz......but to critisise him for his performances so far is really unfair imo, he's adapting to a new league with a fair few new players around him, I've watched every PL Villa game at least twice so far and the only players I would put ahead of him performance wise would be the Mingles followed by SJM after that Jack is right up there. He will be a great Villa player at some point but never going to be world class I reckon he has it in his locker to be a Delph/Young level player which is no mean feat, can see some senior England caps coming his way at some point but he's no Gerrard!
  18. Don't think we need to be making whosale changes let's try and keep some momentum going, think we can be a bit more offensive though so Targett in for Taylor, a start for Davis with big Wes on the bench. And mings rested so a start for either Hause or Konsa. As much as I want to see Marvelous don't think this is one for him to start, maybe come on for DL if we have the game won. Probably worth give Steer a place in the cup games too.
  19. Come on its pre season against some pretty inferior teams, I think DS has got him in as a long term replacement for Elmo and because of the type of player he is, very much a heart on his sleeve gives everything for the team type by all accounts. Good read https://onefootball.com/en/news/what-aston-villa-fans-can-expect-from-frederic-guilbert-en-25817581?variable=20190823
  20. Elmo is doing fine no reason at all to replace him with Guilbert yet. Don't get the fascination with getting Guilbert on, I think people are wrongly assuming he going to be constantly bombing forward and raining crosses into the box, just as a comparison he had 2 assists and scored 1 goal last season, Elmo had 8 assists and 2 goals.
  21. One goal behind Mo Salah.........love it in DS we trust!
  22. As said purely a numbers game Dean Smith addressed this at one of the press conferences when asked about Guilbert, his bench will be a a GK, two defenders, two midfielders and two strikers. I can't see him starting in the PL until Elmo really messes up.
  23. At the expense of El Ghazi I'd say yes definately. We've conceded 5 goals in 2 games and been poor from set pieces and corners. The defense needs help and we need a goal scoring option I think Conor brings both of those.
