  1. Another reason why I don't want Hughes. Well if he somehow managed to get Ireland playing like he did 2 seasons ago - that would be a good thing wouldn't it? I'm on the fence in regards to Hughes. I think he didn't do that bad at Man City - they were 5th when was sacked and still finished 5th that season under Mancini. They were also very good to watch under him. Hes done well at Fulham , Blackburn . Whether hes the best option for us i dnno / doubt. Would like Ancelotti but probably not possible etc
  2. Yeh Hughes had gone to Fulham just before O'Neill walked out.
  3. yeh its that easy.......... FFS :bonk: anyhow Downing wont be going THIS summer unless silly money is thrown. Probably be off next summer tho...
  4. Theres no way we'd sell him for £12 million - thats what we paid for him (isn't it?) Having said that this time next year would be something like that.. He won't go this summer.
  5. Youd think the club might have clarified the managerial situation to the players by now though.
  6. Didnt we finish 2nd with him at the helm? And we won the League Cup. So ... you didn't moan whatsoever at his 'lack of ambition' or how tight he was with money? If so.. I think you were the only one. No no you're right let's get him back, not spend any money, and we'll be 2nd again. Thanks! Where he say that? He never said anything like that but his reply has seeming made you type pretty incoherent stuff
  7. Simply put - If Downing & Young both go this summer the answer to your question would be -YES. (Tho should add i don't think Downing will go this summer at all. Next summer tho?....wouldn't be suprised)
  8. I'm confused why you seem to be shocked. Footballers would sell their own mothers to get an extra buck, not one of them is different. Also they will say one thing and then the next change their mind if something better comes along. The sooner folk realise not to believe everything and anything that comes out of a footballers mouth the better. Its a job for them, if you were offered another job better pay, better colleagues etc you would refuse it? I doubt it very much unless it was your own company and have something personally invested in it, footballers dont. True and lets not forget Downing left his own "boyhood" club to join us....
  9. Well Melberg going was different and Downing hasn't left yet ! But yeh its not quite what i thought that summer day back in 2006....
  10. Agent has blatantly told him to do this backpeddle interview of sorts. For either more money in a new contract or a come get me /potential move......for more money. Notice it werent a Birmingham Mail interview..
  11. Its hardly a surprise is it. I'm sure he came to Villa on the premise that we would be looking to break in to the top 4 and at the very least compete for Europa League places. For one season that happened but this season has been one of struggle for the most part. He sees that Ashley Young, one of our better players, who is of a similar age and like him approaching his peak years, is on his way out the door, sees a club that is umming and erring around what to do about the managerial situation, whilst I dare say at the same time via his agent he is being told there are a couple of suitors in a far better position than us ready to take him on. Most certainly Liverpool will be in for him over the next few weeks. I said a couple of months ago I had a feeing Downing would be leaving the club alongside Ash over the summer and sadly I think that prediction will be correct. We have perhaps become accustomed to losing one of our best players over the summer but to lose two of them would be a real kick in the bollocks and would not bode well when looking to attract the kind of quality to the club that we all hope for. I don't think there's any way the club would let Downing go THIS summer regardless. Not with Ash going . That would be suicidal of the board - would just piss far too many ppl off. I wouldn't be supsised to see Downing go next summer tho..
  12. Did he say he was definitely going to sign new contract before? Or was just something he'd have to think about? Pretty certain it was the latter I wouldn't really expect him to sign another contract this minute. Given the current precarious situation regarding management at moment. Lets be honest it would be no massive suprise to see Downing go next summer like Ash will go this one and Milner before etc.
  13. New manager please. hope the club release some sort of statement after the game today just to clarify one way or the other what the hell is going on. Personally the idea of Houllier and GMac being here in the longtermi i find alarming more than anything else.
  14. Just thought Drag Me To Hell was quite shit myself and disappointing (given it got some pretty decent reviews). Certainly no Evil Dead
  15. imagine if we had signed him instead of Heskey back in the 2008-09 season... argggh it doesn't bear thinking of !
  16. I've only seen the 60s version, I have no interest in the newer one. Tim Burton's remakes are a bit crap, look at Charlie and the Chocolate Factory :| For some reason i originally thought Tim Burton's Planet Of The Apes remake wasn't THAT bad when first saw ...but ...saw again recently - and **** me it is terrible . And yes Tim Burton hasn't made a decent film since the early 90s or something
  17. Planet Of The Apes is great. The 60s one. I'd forgot the beginning and how good it is . - on sidenote i saw the Tim Burton remake a few weeks ago as well and had forgotten how shit it was.
  18. Scientist Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires
  19. @ Redman Benitez would be another bad fit for us. No denying he has pedigree but just look how many players he went through at Liverpool . The amount of players he bought only to sell on the next season or not even play was ridiculous. His transfer record was botched at best (id make a list but it would be just too long) and the football was pretty dour too and he seems to have lost the plot in past 2 years - just look what happened at Inter Milan . Admitedly that was always going to be difficult after what Mourinho did there but even so. Another ex-Liverpool manager is not the way to go. Benitez would give Houllier a good run for his money in talking about how great they are also.
  20. In the last 10 years alone Liverpool have won the champions league , UEFA cup , FA cup , league cup , pretty much regularly qualfied for champs league in past 10 years etc. As we've won ...a league cup... 15 years ago. As much as i love Villa its bit of a weak argument that Liverpool have been nothing since the 80s.
