  1. Ancelotti was earning £4 million something a year at Chelsea and at Milan was probably on something similar. We can't afford that. Despite nice things hes said about England id be pretty certain he's waiting for a champs league side to manage again. I can;t see us affording him or him realistically stepping down a level to risk his own reputation.
  2. Because he said himself he wants to stay in England and wants a challenge, not necessarily a champions league team. I doubt we would all be talking about it otherwise. Link? Wheres the quotes? As all rmber him saying he liked England and said something patronising about West Ham or something
  3. Theres no way Ancelotti would come here - think about it for a sec At Chelsea he was on £4 million a year - theres no way we could afford that and you can bet your life he was pretty well paid at Belusconis Milan. So why would he take a massive pay cut and possibly risk his reputation for what a side outside champions league and even europe? Makes no sense. Sorry as much as like Ancelotti - its not going to happen. He'll hold out for an established champs league side etc
  4. That clause is void apparently. Pretty sure he was on closer to £4 million a year at Chelsea - i dont think we'd be able to pay that sort of salary and i really don't envisage Ancelotti managing a side outside the champions league anytime soon no matter what he said about liking it in England.
  5. Come on give Benitez a bit of credit. I don't see how it would be a disaster, he's clearly got a good record as a manager? He **** up with Liverpool in the end but a lot of that was due to the tension between him and those clueless owners. Hmmm. He messed up at Inter as well. Admitdely Mourinho hard act to follow but even so he messed up there. No denying Benitez's has pedigree but he has seems to have lost the plot football wise recent years. He left a worse Liverpool squad than arguably Houllier did. Seems to alienate ppl and tbh think he'd be wrong fit for us .
  6. Er.....well it was Fulham that gave him a rolling contract. Which is why he can leave now if he wants.
  7. Benitez would be another bad fit. He has lost his marbles managerial wise - would alienate everyone and have a hardon for Liverpool .
  8. Reckon if Hughes hadn't of joined Fulham a few days before O'Neill walked out he almost certainly would of been made manager here last year
  9. you dont consistently win things playing shite though. Success is very much intertwined with the style you play agreed but i think we need stability for the next few years and allardyce would provide that, i think we can forget about challenging for the top 6 for the forseeable future What you on about Allardyce still for?? Hes at West Ham now and wouldnt want him anywhere near us.
  10. In fairness Allardyce did get Bolton to 6th at one point. Would never ever want to see him anywhere near Villa park tho!
  11. i think our players would walk all over Martinez
  12. Man City were 5th in league (with game in hand) when Hughes was sacked. Mancini came in , spent even more money in their Jan window and they finished the season....5th. Yes Hughes bought some duds but also bought some good players some which still very important to City now are some that Mancini just didnt fancy despite being decent. I dont think Hughes done that badly as some trying to make out at City at all.
  13. Overall one most frustrating players to watch ever play the game. Wish him well if goes but if only we had signed someone like a certain Bent way back in Jan 2009 instead .... Although have to admit signing Heskey back then did almost make sense - he was in good form , thought O'Neill might be able to get him consistant but meh.
  14. comparing Fulhams season to ourselves this season is ridiculous and just doesnt work. Did Fulham spoend best part of £30 million in January? No. Are they much smaller club ? Yes. Apples & oranges ... Anyhow the fact remains they still finished above us
  15. be interesting to see if Ireland could find his way back but as for Dunne- it was Hughes that sold Dunne. Hardly a Sparky favourite.
  16. Yep Hughes is decent in the transfer market. Samba as you say from Hertha Berlins B team. Dembele looks like he has something to offer. Tevez (Regardless of how good he was anyway.) Zabaleta Kompany De Jong Santa Cruz to Blackburn Warnock Dunn Bentley Bellamy to Blackburn Pedersen However there is... Halliche who has barely played for Fulham. Santa Cruz to Man City Jo Bridge Roberts Wright-Phillips Robinho It seems to me that he gets more success from the smaller fee signings he makes rather then the larger ones! Ah in fairness it was Sven who signed Jo. and Hughes never signed Robinho . That was blatantly their owners . And whilst Santa Cruz was awful signing for City he was a good bargain for Blackburn originally.
  17. Yeh they were. Back in 2008. Infact Boro were quite pissed off at Spurs for tapping up and refused to sell then following year when relegated sold him to us. I think Liverpool were interested back then as well.
