  1. I think it was the way we lost rather than losing at home to Wigan. No coherence , no nothing and this is now O'Neills team. Only Gabby he didnt sign that played today. Also looking at results from February it is actually relegation form. I can understand others frustration - im livid myself but i wouldnt want O'Neill sacked.
  2. Maybe, just maybe 3-4 years is the right sort of time needed to judge? He has spent a lot of money Richard and we still don't have a defence that is passable for a side with ambitions of the top 6 never mind top 4. Colour it how you want, that's not on. It's not the right time for him to go, he's earned a chance this season based on the improvements the club has made over the last 3 years. But it's not looking very good from where I'm sitting. Pretty much agree. Laursen's retirement of course was unfortunate but everyone knew he was only ever a knock away from being **** and of course wasn't an O'Neill signing. THIS is O'Neill's team now. 2 senior centre backs (who are at best dubious at mo) at a topflight club is just baffling... incidently i did vote for stay
  3. Stay. Blatantly needs director of football or something to help bring in players or something because the whole squad size , way we do transfers etc is just **** odd. Although we all know that will never happen so is a futile suggestion by myself.
  4. Already been metioned above ^^^ Yeh my maths + few drinks = wrongness Don't get me wrong im not negative and not many clubs have done that much this window so far ... but at same time i do scratch my head as why we keep having such small squad - i thought O'Neill would sort that out this window unlike the last few which fair enough was about getting rid of dead wood etc..but this window i thought wed be up in squadsize and whilst still weeks left i just maybe wrongly presumed wed add players earlier rather than later. Same old topic on these boards im sure but anyhow ...still stick by my original post on Pg.1 of this thread.
  5. Although i get your point, technically that would equal 4! Fact! :winkold: Doh! - so it would!
  6. Have we immeditely replaced two "first team" players ? Downing can't play for probably another 3-4 months and Delph is what he is - a promising talent. Beye will be good cover for Luke Young and is a seasoned pro. But regardless of all that .. O'Neill said himself squad was too small last season...boring i know but ; 4 - 4 + 4 = 0 Fact - as you might say ... O'Neill would acknowledge that. I just thought given O'Neills comments on the tail end of last season and early part of summer we wouldnt be lacking numbers yet again. we have currently have 2 senior center backs...
  7. still looking forward to season of course but expecting less than last season. I really did think we'd do more earlier this transfer window given O'Neills comments during our slump last season and his comments in early part of summer so in all honesty i am pretty shocked at the very few number of signings we've done .. Some comment above saying we've replaced 4 players with 4 players is bit of a joke - if you actually look at the names gone and the players in. Squad was too small last season anyhow...anyhow its boring to keep saying it - but something isnt quite right about the way we do things. Our set up or something aint quite right -O'Neill needs some sort of help ...Why let Knight go when no immediate back up bought in? Things like this keep happening. Werent that long ago we went best part of 2 seasons without a SINGLE senior proper right back.
  8. Indeed . I am for the record a Gabby fan and obviously so is O'Neill. Gabby will be O'Neills first choice striker for the forseable future. Then its a who plays alongside him. So whilst id love us to sign someone like Owen at same time i don't see how it could work .
  9. Well few weeks back i remember there was a few on here And have heard plenty of Villa "fans " ...maybe not NOW ...but literally months if not only a few weeks back saying how we're relying on "Gabby too much " or how he's "lazy" etc..
  10. I think Heskey would be a better signing than Santa Cruz. Not because i think Heskey is better overall player than Santa Cruz (santa cruz is better finisher) but i do think Heskey and Gabby combination would workbetter than a Santa Cruz and Gabby combination. Gabby is Martin O'Neills first choice striker whether ppl like it or not. And someone like Heskey would suit us really well - especially for rest of this season. Its blatant that few quality strikers are availbale in January and that Harewood is not simply not good enough back up for Carew. Owen course would be a great signing but not sure how hed fit in
  11. Out of those listed on the poll id prefer Owen - he's goalscoring record is second to none and even with his injury problems he is an exceptionally gifted goalscorer BUT..........just cant see how hed quite fit in with our current set up...
  12. Well Heskey would be capable of trapping and holding a ball up a hell of a lot better than Harewood is.
