    According to the Guardian we never even made contact with Ancelotti :- "The former Chelsea manager has not received any contact from Villa and he is known to have no interest in the position. Ancelotti, according to sources close to the Italian is holding out for a club that can offer Champions League football."

    Many of us thought at the time that regardless of reputation and track record it was a huge risk to bring back a man into the stress of PL management who'd had serious heart problems in the past. RL chose, wrongly, to overlook that issue. He got it... wrong. Funnily enough when we bought in Houllier i never even thought of his health. But i did immediately think of his incredibly boring but succesful enough Liverpool side. Didn't think it was a bad choice tho at time necessarily but he had been out of magament for few years .

    Theres no way we'd get Moyes imo - not this year - hes too rightly or wrongly intertwined with Kenwright there seemingly forever plus has 2 years left on current contract. IMHO - Ancelotti - if not - Hughes .simple as.

    Was blatant to anyone even half sane that Ancelotti was talking patronising crap about West Ham etc. If we have seriously tried/trying to get him we'd have to offer him a lot and a warchest in transfer money. Hes won 2 champs league , the Premiership , FA cup , serie a etc - hes a manager a calibre and would take a hell of lot of convicning to manage a side outside of champs league. As would be risk to his own reputation.

    Its pure media speculation that tho isn't it? Makes no sense why we'd give a toss . Hughes done nothing wrong at Fulham . Fulham were stupid enough to give him the type of contract they did last summer on the cheap. He's walked - we'll see what happens.

    I can't see Moyes leaving Everton unless you kidnapped him and his family. Besides hes got 2 years left at Everton on contract - we would have to pay quite a bit of compensation there.

    Yeh i have no idea why Hughes leaving way he did would "upset" our board either . Bizarre report. Fulham were stupid giving him a one year clause contract in first place - pressumably was done on the cheap incase they went down. They didn't back their manager with enough faith from the off and paid price for it. Either way Ancelotti seems favourite ...interesting times like you say though

    Er Man City were 5th when Hughes was sacked . Where did they end up finishing that season under Mancini ? Yes thats right 5th. Fulham were far from dire to watch from what i saw . Hughes sides are far from unattractive to watch. Hughes decent manager and one who is still hungry and could do a good job here ...IF... it is him appointed

    Dnno what wrong with some ppl here. So much negative crap. If it is Hughes - he will be good for us. Constantly improving manager - relatively young but with experience and is hungry to prove himself. Be good appointment if happens

    Benitez has completely lost the plot football wise in recent years. He made a mess at Inter . Granted was always tough to follow Mourinho there but even so. And he arguably left a worse Liverpool squad behind than he inherited from Houllier . Still has a hardon for Liverpool and seems to alienate ppl very easily (including likes of Stevie G and co eventuially). No denying his pedigree but would be a bad fit for us. I'm certain of that.

    Ah but if we don't get Ancelotti we might get Moyes instead. Exciting times indeed. Moyes not going to leave Everton this summer unless was drugged and kidnapped . Hughes would have been good appointment so dnno why we've contacted Fulham . If we get Ancelotti then great -doesnt matter but the other options if dont seem shite.

    Good coach , shit manager. He probably wouldn't be a disaster if he returned to a Prem club and could do well....BUT...id rather he'd not be given that chance here! the fans here would be on his back from the get go and would be a disaster here imo.
