  1. Well, a balanced and remotely intelligent view isn't the strong point of many is it
  2. im not saying he wont, im saying i think he might struggle. only reason i say that is although he can score goals (which might be enough to just score goals), he's selfish and lacks intelligence for a pass/intricate passes from what i have seen, which in the DS system isnt good, especially as the "lone striker". Happy to be proved wrong.
  3. to be fair, we should write this match off as a rest/B team squad. But....we have fielded tired A team players....madness tbh???
  4. to be fair, no other strikers at the club have had a chance under DS in the lone striker role. Obviously that's because Tammy has scored a fair few goals and has kept his place, but its also fair to say no other striker in the team has had a chance to play in the striker role for anything more than a cameo under DS. We dont actually know if they will grasp the chance if given (Hogan/Kodjia etc). I think Kodj would struggle in the system tbh in the striker role, not sure about Hogan, we can only wait and see suppose.
  5. the loan agreement with Chelsea has a clause or something that he doesnt play in cup matches......no idea why, but ye, there it is.
  6. it's ok, when he doesnt perform this season for Wolves, we might be able sign or re-loan him next season for a promotion push either way, it is what it is, we need to soldier on regardless of whether he is here or not.
  7. this is their team, i dont know much about Swansea, is this their strongest 11? edit: apparently it is their strongest 11.
  8. he's not available for this match. unless you are trolling, then of course, continue good friend
  9. Really surprised to see McGinn tbh, DS said he looked tired, and i think we have all seen that also in the last couple of games, really surprised he's starting. Would have thought giving Bjarnason some minutes for match sharpness, then using Lansbury later on? (i know BB isnt as good, but McGinn is too important to not rest if he's tired) I wonder who is starting in the AMC (Grealish) role?, i would assume O'Hare? (and not El Ghazi?)
  10. we will be paying a vast % of his wages i would imagine, whats he on?, 40k?, no way they could afford all of that.
  11. I am just watching the Sunderland Till i Die series, quite insightful tbh. Would be interesting to see a Villa version, but to be brutally honest i dont think i would want to see one! One thing it does show is the impact of relegation, the struggles of rebuilding and the impact it has on the players etc. Very interesting, if painful show to watch, some of the fans, oh my....
  12. Yep, its confirmed, he has gone on loan to Motherwell.
  13. Agreed, I think a ball playing DM is just as critical for us as fixing our defence crisis.
  14. Gutting, I hope we can get this stuff straightened out, we really need a DC, DL & DMC. .....And a decent MC
  15. Assuming everyone is fit, i would rest the "A" team, and probably go something like: Steer Elmo - Revan - Bedeau - Hutton Lansbury - Whelan - Doyle Hayes Adomah - Hogan - Kodjia Reason for Hutton, is if Taylor & Bree are fit for the following game, i would play those over Hutton. I might even play Davis in place of Adomah or Kodjia, would defo use him in a sub capacity if nothing else.
  16. John Percy (twitter) has said the deal for Hause is in danger of not going through due to Wolves wanting 4m and Villa only wanting to pay 2m. Maybe Wolves are saying 4m or nothing?, am i correct in thinking John Percy is usually not far off point?
  17. The Hause deal isn't over the line yet then? Cone on Villa announce some of those new signings I need my fix
  18. Granted, but they were a much better team last year than we were or are currently, which is why I mean hopefully next season we can be at a similar level.
  19. Obviously i want us to do well and win as many games as we can, I hate it when we lose. But....The logical side of me doesn't really want to get promoted this season, I think we need the rest of this season and pre season to bed in DS's system and style, replace quite a few players and get them firing etc, and really develop in to an exciting possession based team. If all goes well I can see us being something quite impressive next season, and hopefully get promoted with a proper team playing in a proper fashion, how we were last season and at times this season we would get totally battered in the prem, at least giving another 12 months to get the new coaching And management team settled in properly, as well as the players they want to play the system they want, is logically probably the best thing. We have tried and failed to do it fast and rough, now let's do it right If not, well then it will just feel like the previous 10 years for me
  20. Villa report (twitter), said 1hr ago that Hause is currently undergoing a medical, seems a bit late in the evening for a medical???
  21. what is everyone's obsession with O'Hare? I hope he develops as much as the next man, and he looks like he has potential, but he isnt Messi, and if you watch the U23's, he doesnt exactly blow them away, good yes, blow them away?, not really. I agree we should look over time to give him game time, develop him and expose him to the first team, but citing O'Hare as an immediate natural successor to Grealish is kinda just nuts for me. I hope im wrong, and he is given a chance and blows us all away, but i would literally bet cash it doesnt happen that way. Maybe with exposure to the first team this year, with a view to seeing if he is ready next season?, yes quite possibly, but i think the only real way we can have a player to do anything remotely similar to Grealish right now (for the rest of this season), is to buy someone, like Sawyers for example, or a spanish/english gem that our team find?, i dunno. All im saying is, yes he has potential, but he isnt Grealish as of this moment, and expecting him to be will likely lead to some unnecessary disappointment for anyone who does expect it, and unreasonable expectation put on the lads shoulders. Im sure all supporters of all clubs over inflate the talent of their players sometimes, but we seem to have it down as a fine art
  22. I dont think Taylor is anywhere near our biggest issue, i wouldnt hate the idea of getting someone better in his position (or cover, as we defo need cover as a minimum - preferably someone better), but i dont think he's our biggest problem by any stretch.
