  1. I don't think he looked out of his depth at all. He was always second choice to Abraham and never really got a run of games to get some momentum. He hasn't had a good run of games since his injury against Blackburn. Just think back to his goal against Brentford or his goal against Forest in his first season. Or his assist for Hourihane's goal at home to Leeds last year. Can you honestly see Austin doing anything like that? Kodjia makes chances for himself out of nothing. He doesn't just wait around for them to be presented to him. Watch this and ask yourself, could Austin do half of that?
  2. Kodjia thrives off being in the spotlight. Yes, that is a bit of a selfish attitude but I think every team needs a player like that. Someone a bit unpredictable who can create a bit of magic out of nowhere. Kodjia has that and I actually think he will thrive in the Premier League. Austin is injury prone, past it, on huge wages and even when fit, has a terrible scoring record. Even at his best, all he is, is a fox in the box type striker. Kodjia offers much much more in every department. If the question is Kodjia or Austin? There really is only one answer.
  3. I've just caught up on the last day's worth of pages and had the same thoughts as this. Why are Austin and Long being mentioned??? Have we gone mad? They are mid-table Championship quality at best. The types of signings we would have made in the Lambert days. Dreadful players who would no doubt be on ridiculous wages and have absolutely no sell on value. I can't actually think of many worse or depressing signings we could make this summer. Thankfully, I'm 100% confident we will be looking much, much higher than this.
  4. I do like the look of the Trinity as it is but I wouldn't be against that at all. I agree it would look stunning if we gave it a bit of a facelift to look like the Holte. Surely it would be plausible to line the outside of it with the same brickwork? There's lots we can do to the current setup to improve and expand. I really don't think there is any need to move grounds entirely. Primary focus should obviously be the North Stand. Then go from there. I just hope that if/when they decide to make changes that they properly consult with the fans and ask us what we want. It is our club after all.
  5. I think I went to one game in the original. I was only 10 when they knocked down the original so it was a bit before my time. I get that the new one doesn't look like the original without the old brickwork outside but I still don't think its a bad looking stand.
  6. Genuine question to those of you who don't like the new Trinity. What is it that's so bad about it? I personally think it's a great stand.
  7. I found this on twitter the other day. This is what we need to do. No more of this new stadium rubbish. Knock down the North Stand. Build a new 3 tier stand and connect onto the Trinity. Leave the Doug Ellis and Holte free standing. Would take Villa Park up to about 55k. Done.
  8. Yep, there's nothing quite like it. Even the thought of moving to new ground makes me feel ill.
  9. Are people seriously talking about moving to a new stadium??? I swear, if we ever do that I'd lose interest in going. Villa Park is our home. It's our identity. A ground is what makes a club. As good as Spurs' new stadium is, if I was a Tottenham fan I'd be gutted at losing the old ground. And as for West Ham, if they weren't such a scummy club I'd feel sorry for them. But especially when that ground is as unique and steeped in history as ours. I detest this new design of "bowl' americanised stadium. The traditional 4 stands is how it should be. Never, under any circumstances should we ever consider leaving our home. End of.
  10. That seems a bit too high to me! Very generous.
  11. All I know is I've bought him on FIFA a few times and he's an absolute beast.
  12. Where have you heard that? He'd be a fantastic signing!
  13. Exactly! That is exactly why I think this summer will be the most exciting transfer window ever. I really think they mean business so there's every chance a signing of this calibre could happen.
  14. No, I'm not 100% convinced about him at Premier League level either but to say a 22 year old English striker who has scored 60 goals in 130 career games is worth no more than 10 million in today's market is utterly ridiculous.
  15. So, in a market where Dominic Solanke went for £19million, Danny Ings for £18million, Matej Vydra for £11million, Mitrovic for £18million, Muto for £10million and Benik Afobe for £10million you think Abraham is worth no more than £10million? I don't see your logic at all.
  16. Agreed. His distribution drove me bloody mad last season.
  17. What? Like Derby changed their tactics to play against us? Worked out well for them. You play to your strengths. That is how long term success is achieved. Having a philosophy and following it through. Not changing the way you play depending on who you're up against.
  18. Glad to see others agreeing how good he was yesterday. I thought he was immense. He was happy to sit back, do the nitty gritty side of the game, break up play, move the ball out wide quickly and let McGinn and Grealish get forward. He's a team player and actually a joy to watch on the ball. I've criticised him in the past because I think he sometimes needs to be a bit more physical and put his mark on games more often, but he's proven what a quality, quality player he is. And I think he will get better in the Prem.
  19. Mings is number one priority, closely followed by El Ghazi. Tuanzebe would be amazing but think Man Utd will keep him. Loan may be possible. 100% got to go for Joe Lolley. He's definitely ready to make the step up and would jump at the chance. Kemar Roofe might be a good shout too. Looks a quality player and would be hilarious taking Leeds' best player. Then left back, striker, holding midfielder and another winger. We've got to be careful not to make wholesale changes. The aim for the window has to be to keep the best of this group together and keep the dressing room spirit high, but add bits of quality where needed. Absolutely no reason why we can't give this a good go now.
  20. Still not as bad as O'Neill playing Reo-Coker at right back!
  21. Haha! Nice one. Well my team won the league that season. Think we hammered you once ? But yeah, he was a class apart. Makes you wonder, if he was that good, how good must Grealish be?
  22. Wow. Okay, that's blown my mind. I used to read the forum back then and remember him very well. I even played against him when he was part of the Villa Talk 5-aside team that played at Goals at Star City. Never knew he turned out to be Joe Lolley haha!
